Connecting the address to the verse
Started by CindyCindy
I have a terrible time remembering the address for a Scripture verse. When the screen pops up with the reference, I am often at a loss until I show the verse and see the first word or two. Then I am off and running! Any ideas for how to make that connection stick in my brain?

I have a pretty hard time with this too. The best advice I can think to give you is to use the "Reference Recall" Memverse provides. :)

How I connect the verse with the reference is to work on saying the reference and then saying the first five words. Of course that just helps to enforce it.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Daniel Staddon shares a lot of good tips in his book, "The $100,000 Word" for remembering which reference goes with what verse. I highly recommend the book!

Ditto Rachel!
This used to be a tough spot for me too. I think Memverse's Reference Recall helped some, along with just plain quizzing my verses over and over again, saying the reference at the beginning and the end. I do that a lot when I'm studying for Bible Bee.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Matthew's suggestions are really good…it's really helpfulme if You say the reference at the beginning AND the end of the passage, like you do for bible bee.

This is a Great Book!!! Another way I connect the verse with the reference is to memorize the reference WITH the verse. When you're learning the verse, learn the reference as if it is part of the verse.

I had a young friend once share what she did to help her connect the verse to the reference. She would write the verse on one index card, and the reference on the other. Then she would play a matching game, matching the reference with the verse. That might be something to consider trying.
2 Corinthians 5:17
That's a great idea, especially for younger children! :) I think I should do that for my primary brother :)
