Homeschool

Regent? Lol idk.
SoulWinner
What's regent?
Dani(elle)
A University. I was kidding. Mostly. Lol :)
SoulWinner
Oh, I'm guessing you haven't put much thought into it, but you probably should. Are you in 8th or 9th grade?
Dani(elle)
9th. I really would rather not go away to collage but I don't know if I will. :)
SoulWinner
Oh wow. I'm in 9th grade too and I am positive I'm going to college. If you don't mind me asking are you not going to college because you are a woman? Don't want to sound sexist or anything. Just curious. :)
Dani(elle)
No, I just am not fond of the idea of going and living miles and miles from home with some girl as a roommate that I have never met. :)
SoulWinner
That was my other idea :) I have to go to college to become what I want to be. For me college is a tool, and roommates can be helpful, they help pay for the rent :D
Dani(elle)
Lol. Yeah, that why I was joking about Regent University cause that's were my brother goes and it's a Christian school in Virginia, I know that's really far! Well from me at least. Lol
SoulWinner
That's even farther from me, I live in Texas!
Dani(elle)
Yeah my brother goes there, he almost dated a girl from Texas that went there. and he is friends with another. Lol

I'll probably take online music classes from a college in South Dakota called Valley City State University. Then I'll transfer my credits to Thomas Edison and get my degree through them. I also don't like the idea of living miles away from my family. I love learning (especially about music) so that's one of the reasons for a degree. Another reason: it can be helpful for homeschooling. (Like…if they say you can't homeschool without a BA.) I know if they want to shut down homeschoolers a college degree is no shield, but it can help for a while I think. :) maybe….
SoulWinner
Taking classes online is cool because you don't have to worry about all the worldly influences in colleges. I know you could eliminate that if you went to a Christian college but still. Plus like you said you don't have to be away from family. It's the best of both worlds :)
biblebee
I don't think I want to go to college.
SavedByGrace
I don't think I'll be going to college, but if I do, I hope it's Cedarville University. :) It's fairly close to us, and it's a Christian college–so much so that even Answers in Genesis supports it! :)
Dani(elle)
Why wouldn't u go to collage???
SavedByGrace
I'm pretty sure that, with the career I'm planning on doing, I won't need to go to college. :)
Dani(elle)
What career?
Madi
Unfortunately, you do have to worry about that worldly influence. In taking general ed courses through CLEP tests you have to worry about all the graphic pics and evolution and stuff. Also, in the class, the teachers are not Christians (at least in my brothers case) and it's like Skype so you are kinda right there in the class. The nice thing is that you're at home so you can discuss everything with your parents.

Well, at this time, it seems as though I am going to be an auto mechanic. :) (See my "Introduce Yourself" page.) Right now, however, I don't know the first thing about cars or car parts, so I've got a lot to learn… :)
SoulWinner
lol I noticed that i kept seeing their ads in the quarterly Answers magazine :) You want to be a mechanic yet you don't know about cars? I hope your good at picking up things quickly cause cars are extremely complicated. jk :) I think it would be awesome to be a mechanic! Yet since I love cars so much I'm going to go further and actually design them :D Also, where did you get the idea to become a mechanic from?
SoulWinner
It seems I was talking about graduate college classes. My mom is getting her MBA online at Dallas Baptist University. Of course not much worldy influence can come in through accounting and statistics! :) I understand completely where you're are coming from and I have also noticed that at some supposedly christian colleges they have a lot of beliefs and traditions that are just way off from the Bible. I've just gotta say this and get it out: I hate Evolution.
Hiruko Kagetane
Who doesn't? ;-P At least among the people who post here.
Dani(elle)
Some times I wonder what the world would be like if Darwin had never been born.
Madi
Actually evolution goes way back before Darwin. It would still be (and if not it something else) an argument today even without Darwin. It is just a tool used by the enemy to turn people astray. Darwin himself said there wasn't much evidence for his beliefs. (That may not be exactly what he said. It was something that contradicted with what he was writing. You people more educated on the subject can correct as needed. :) Anyway, Darwin popularized the idea, but he didn't create it. (Maybe that's what you meant anyway…)
His Servant
"Darwin himself said there wasn't much evidence for his beliefs. (That may not be exactly what he said. It was something that contradicted with what he was writing. You people more educated on the subject can correct as needed. :)" I don't know much about the subject other than what my science book explains to me :) It says that in Darwin's book that he wrote, Origins of Species, he (tried) giving evidence for evolution and then sometimes took more pages to explain how it wasn't correct than how he thought it was correct – if that makes any sense at all. :D
Those who use Apologia Biology please correct me if I'm wrong!

Here is a quote that Darwin himself wrote about this.
" If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. But I can find out no such case. "
If there is a irreducebly complex organism, such as the Bombadier beetle, e. coli bacteria, etc. then Evolution (macroevolution) is disproven.
Darwin even actually said (paraphrase) that the sight of the human eye made him sick because of its complexity.
Edit, @SBG, My parents went to CDU (college back then).
Madi
thanks guys, those are good quotes!
Dani(elle)
Yeah.
Matthew Minica
I dissected an earthworm today. :)
admin
Do I dare say, "Yuck"????
Haha! I was never into dissecting specimens in Biology!
Dani(elle)
Eww! Yuck! How can u stand that!? Doesn't it gross u out?! Thankfully my mom is letting me skip the disections! :) :) :) so happy! Lol just the pictures in the book gross me out! Lol
Madi
Same here. I got to skip dissections but the pics grossed me out
biblebee
I am so glad that I won't have to dissect anything :D It's just too gross.
SavedByGrace
Girls. :P Dissecting wouldn't be that bad! ;D
biblebee
Hey…Jordan agrees with us, and he's not a girl :D And sorry it is just so gross.
SavedByGrace
Eh, whatever. ;P
biblebee
This is Daniel, Carissa's brother. I agree, dissecting is not that bad.
SavedByGrace
Ha ha! A boy agrees with me! ;P
Hiruko Kagetane
I've dissected a flower, an earthworm, and a frog before. All great fun!
Dani(elle)
Yuck! U would say that lol. How do u dissect a flower?? Lol
Hiruko Kagetane
Easily.
Dani(elle)
What is their to dissect?? I have ripped flowers apart before lol.
Hiruko Kagetane
The individual parts of the flower. Like the individual parts of a frog. Which was fun, I can tell you.
Margaret Eddy
I liked the crayfish best.
The earthworm was a little boring and with the perch my tools were to dull to enjoy cutting through all the bones, but the crayfish was awesome.
His Servant
Now, Matthew! Look at this whole heated discussion you have started. :) JK! But, aren't you gonna tell us if you enjoyed it or not? I can't say either way, I haven't done it. It would probably be okay, except for maybe the smell…
Margaret Eddy
I dissected the perch when most of our family had the flu.
I figured that if I could take that Mom would believe me when I said I didn't have it and I could go to Wednesday night church with Dad.
The smell isn't all that bad.
Emily H
We've done a grasshopper and a frog and maybe a worm. I forgot. :P And it wasn't gross at all. Just the smell of the preservative was nasty. Oh, we've also dissected a rabbit, a chicken and a baby rattlesnake (those didn't stink because they had no preservative)
MilesChristiSum
What earthworms are bad? Howsabout the cadavr videos for Anatomy for yuck.(if you don't know what a cadavr is don't try looking that up, they are human remains for research/investicative purposes)
Dani(elle)

I will not!! Lol that sounds really gross! My brother dissected an earth worm several years ago I didn't think it was too bad but frogs and other stuff! Yuck!
