His Servant

That's nice that your family is doing your chores! I've had more things to do around the house because both my parents are gone right now. I'm in verse 7 in Ephesians, and I have about 220 memorized so far.

I am memorizing all the Greek for Ephesians, too. I am also hoping to finish my verses by the end of next week or so, and then start really memorizing Ephesians, though I'm kind of working on memorizing as I study the chapters.

I am also identifying the key words in the memory verses, so that I can cross reference them into the book. For example, this morning, I realized that Matthew 26:41 was a cross reference to the end of Ephesians 6, specifically verse 18.

If I were you I'd probably go for Sword Study. Judging from what you've said, you have done plenty of memory work to last you a while. Ephesians will be very important as well.

@Matthew - sure, could you do that? I just wasn't sure if anyone on here had Kaitlyn's email, and the only way I could figure out was through my contact form…..But if you could get in touch with her that would be great.

Thanks. :-)

@Dani:–You are doing great! Keep up the good work! But remember that Ephesians will be very important too. I think I will memorize most of the Greek too, but not really study it in depth. I will study some key words in depth, but not all the Greek. And if you can, search for cross-references in the Senior and Primary memory verses as well. There will be a bunch in there. :-)

@anna - I just sent you a message on your website, then I finished reading the rest of the comments. You should have my email now. Otherwise, @Matthew - my email is up under my profile, so you could just forward me Ryan's email. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks, Matthew, I got your email.

Very surprised. I was hoping to get into the top 50, but I wasn't expecting anything like that. This is my last year as a Junior.

What about key verses of Ephesians, anyone?

My key verses are:

Chapter 2: verse 8
Chapter 3: verse 6
Chapter 4: verse 13
Chapter 5: verse 8
Chapter 6: verse 13
Alternate Chapter 6 (5:22-6:9): verse 5:27

I already asked that, but no one answered! No one wants to give away their secret formula for getting the test questions right and so getting to Semi-finals! JK :-)

Seriously, if any of you can share, please do! I want to have lots of people's opinions for this year.

I think the three main key words for Ephesians 1 are Will (thelema), Saints/Holy (hagios), and Inheritance (kleronomia). There are several other lesser ones, but I think those are the main three for this chapter.

I thought about Power too, but I haven't actually studied that one yet. I'm basically studying every important word in the book, but the key words are what I'm really focusing on.

Chapter 3: The mystery revealed
Chapter 4: How to walk
Chapter 5: How to live a pure life that is honoring to God
Chapter 6: The way to protect yourself from sin

both of your titles are good! I haven't picked mine yet. a good idea is to look back thru the summer SS and try to study just like you did in the summer.

Some key word ideas I had for chapter 2 were Flesh (sarx), Grace (charis), and In Time Past/Formerly, or however it is translated in other versions. Anyhow the Greek word is pote. :P I haven't studied all the words in the chapter yet, so that might not be all.

Well, you can find all my key words on Quizlet… I haven't done chapter 6 or Colossians yet, though :)

Hi all:) - just wanted to ask how you all are studying the Cross-references. I don't have the brains that some people do, where they can read these a couple times and have them memorized, so that won't work. And also, I was thinking of memorizing them, but with all the memory verses this year, I'm not sure that is possible……unless I just do the very important ones.

So - what do you all do?

God's Maiden of Virtue

Well, what I do is after listing all of the cross references for each verse, I go through and make sections for them (in order of the sections throughout the book). Then, I just read them through when I can and memorize what section they're in. Does that make sense?
I'm not sure how helpful this will be, it just has worked for me in the past, so maybe it'll help a little.
