Theology Questions

I believe that it is certainly possible for a mentally disabled person to sin–no matter how disabled they are. The Bible clearly says that all have sinned (Romans 3:23, as I'm certain you know :D). As for whether God will allow people who are not mentally able to understand the gospel to come into heaven, I would have to say that the answer is no. God is infinitely holy (as you can see all throughout Scripture), and absolutely cannot tolerate sin in His presence. Since, as I said, every human being has sinned, He cannot allow anyone into heaven who has not believed in the gospel and been washed in the blood of Christ. But is it possible that God, in His mercy, will allow mentally disabled people a second chance after death? We may like to think that this is so, but I think the verse Carissa shared gives a pretty clear answer of "no" to this question as well. All men will be judged according to their works on earth after death (see also Romans 2:6); no one gets a second chance in the next life.
As for your second question, give me a little more time. I'll have to give it some more thought before I respond. :)

I wonder if Soulwinner is still subscribed to this topic?? :'(
Matthew Minica
Okay, Nicolas, I agree with all of that; and yet, will God freely forgive sins that are not "unforgivable"? I'm trying to reconcile Mark 3:28 and Joshua 24:19 right now. This idea of an "unforgivable sin" has always slightly confused me…
biblebee
Well, while you'll are thinking about Matthew's question I have a question:
Can things be amoral (neither good nor bad)? Why/why not?
Ian R.2
Think about this verse.
Ecclesiastes 10:1: Dead flies make the perfumer's ointment give off a stench, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.
biblebee
Ummmm….I don't really see how that verse answers my question. Could you perhaps explain?
Ian R.2
You can't be neither good nor bad because a little bad outweighs the good. Get it?
biblebee
Oh, okay. Thanks for explaining.
SavedByGrace
Well, it's true that no person can be amoral, but what about things, like music or the Internet? Well… I gave my opinion on this on the "Music" forum. ;)
Hiruko Kagetane
Scenario: A lone piano is in the desert. A person walks by, and presses the key 'C'. Is that good, or bad?
BREAKING NEWS! It's...ah...nobody important. nevermind.
EVIL!
Ian R.2
I just realized I misunderstood your question. I thought you said "you" instead of "things". I think things can be amoral like in Sam's question.
biblebee
Okay.
BREAKING NEWS! It's...ah...nobody important. nevermind.
Oh nonnononono! All music is evil, especially pianer music!
Ian R.2
By your logic aren't your favorite bands evil then?
BREAKING NEWS! It's...ah...nobody important. nevermind.
NO! I like them, therefore they are not evil.
hey, you play the pianoid!
"shut up, will ya?"
Ian R.2
Are you the judge of good, and evil?
BREAKING NEWS! It's...ah...nobody important. nevermind.
Deadpool is
Ian R.2
Then are you saying that Deadpool is God?
biblebee
Ian…I'm going to remind you of what you told me one time. Don't keep replying to Noah…that's what he wants you do to and it leads no where.
Ian R.2
I saw a flaw in the words that he said, and couldn't help myself. :) If he doesn't reply with a reasonable answer in his next post, I won't reply.
biblebee
Okay. :)
SavedByGrace
He's just playing with you! He was obviously being completely facetious. As usual. :P
Ian R.2
I know that he was just playing with me, but what he was saying was just wrong.
biblebee
Well see…now you know why I reply to him on here.

Can music be amoral? People say 'well, music is a medium, therefore music is amoral'. Film is a medium, but film is certainly not amoral. (Why do they rate it?) I would say the same thing applies to music.
biblebee
So do you think that anything can be amoral?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
All things that are done/made by humans are not amoral. We're humans, we're sinful!
biblebee
Okay.

That's different. Music is a collection of sounds, while film encompasses a story characters, plot, etc. If I have an instumental piece, then I'd say it is amoral. However, if I have a piece with lyrics, it's up to the listener to decide whether it is good or bad music. In view of being a Christian, I'd say that most rap music out there is bad. It encourages sinful passions and situations. However, if you separate the lyrics from the music itself, I'd say that it is neither good or bad.

Does the chaotic sound of rap music reflect the character and nature of God?
Hiruko Kagetane
"Chaotic", is your opinion. I find rap one of the most orderly forms of music out there.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
It is written to reflect the heart of man. And it is discordant, which to me is chaotic.
Hiruko Kagetane
And, so was any an all styles of music. And "discordant", is still your opinion.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
The rap music was designed to corrupt the morals of men, which the men who created it admitted. But they were shocked at how well they did!
Back in the Classical era, the church governed the culture. Music was written to glorify God. Now, even if it is 'intended' to glorify God, they are imitating the world, and the world is now completely man-centered.

chaotic, sounds like CHAOS THEORY!

Is the intended purpose of something it's only purpose forever? Colleges were originally made to teach young people the skills they'd need to have a career in the outside world, but more and more, they are becoming places for young people to waste their lives partying. I'm not saying they don't learn, a lot of them do, but for many, the purpose has become to have unchaperoned fun.
And, how does the world own anything? Isn't everything owned by God? Yes, man can inject their own passions and desires to corrupt what God has given them, but does Satan own anything? Can he act outside of God's will?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I'm sorry, I don't get your point with the college thing…
Like I said, back in the Classical Era, music was made to glorify God, but since music is one of the things that most affects a culture, Satan grabbed it, and turned it to be used against God. No, I don't think Satan can act out of God's will, but he can do things to dishonor God. And the more that it looks like he's going against God's will, it will make it that much more drastic when he is defeated!
And, what are the associations of the music? Even in 'Christian Contemporary Music', it looks and sounds like the world. Why should we profess to be different when the non-believers coming into our churches see no difference?
biblebee
Satan does things to dishonor God, but he cannot act outside of God's will. But maybe it is God's will for Satan to use such music as rock, rap, etc, etc, etc,… I'm not saying that it is all wrong…I haven't studied it enough to say that…but I'm just saying that some of the music that I have heard does not glorify God.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Thanks.
biblebee
Thanks for what??
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Agreeing with me! ^>^
biblebee
Oh. You're Welcome :)

Dani M.: What do you think of this music? It has a beat in the background but the melody is very pretty (I think).
Nathan Wright: Impersonator Hunter
Rap can reflect God. He is mighty; He is powerful. If music is designed to be sinful, then it is, but if not, it's fine! There's no eleventh commandment that says "Thou shalt not listen to rap or rock."
biblebee

LOL! :)
Nathan Wright: Impersonator Hunter
Prove to me from Scripture that rock, rap, disco, etc. are sinful, and I'll never listen to them again.
biblebee
Once I've studied music (after nationals) I'll let you know what I come up with.
And I would like to make something clear. I do not listen to that music because to me that is sin…but to others it isn't. The music may not be bad but it is something I don't listen to.
Nathan Wright: Impersonator Hunter
If your conscience tells you not to listen to it, then it's wrong for you.
biblebee
Yup!
