Hair :)

I guess this is sort of a "sub division" of the Modesty thread, because we had some discussions about hair over there. But as that isn't exactly about modesty, we can discuss it here!

How long do you think girls' hair should be? Is it ok for guys to have long hair? What about facial hair? :) (This could end up getting a little goofy!)

My hair is kind of curly so a lot of times it looks a bit shorter then is really is. :)

I personally like beards - not the long bushy kind, though! My brother and I convinced my dad to grow a goatee, and he told a friend on Sunday that he'll have to start selling duck decoys now. :P

Lol! My dad has a beard now too… after years of us bagging him to try it! :) I just think that it makes young guys look older then they are. Don’t you?

My dad's been finding quotes about beards now, like one from Spurgeon where he said something about that growing a beard is a biblical and manly thing. And this verse: "If my head is shaved, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.” Judges 16:17 (it's pulled out of context, of course!)

And he found a picture that compared bearded to non-bearded preachers. The bearded preachers: Spurgeon, Knox, Calvin… you get the idea. The non-bearded preachers: Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Rob Bell… Dad told me to be quiet when I pointed out that Luther didn't have a beard. :)

That is funny about Luther not having a beard! :D When my dad started growing his beard a bunch of other dads in our Bible Study started growing theirs too! :)

I like guys with short hair better than those with long hair. (1 Corinthians 11:14)
I think girls' hair should be at least shoulder-length.
I don't mind if guys have facial hair! I used to be scared of facial hair but not anymore. Once I cried at the dentist's office because the dentist has a mustache! :P

Okay here are my thoughts.
On girl's hair I think it should be no shorter than shoulder length. For me though I like it longer than that.
For guys having long hair. I do not think that they should have long hair.

A girl question: How do you normally do your heir?

I normally do it in braids, buns or half-ups. And if I'm outside working/riding bikes/climbing trees/etc… I put it in really high ponytails.

I usually wear my hair down, but sometimes I pull it back in a pony and wear a headband. I also have a curler that does sort of ringlets, so I do that sometimes too.

I normally just do a mohawk….. or on my really wild days I just do dread-locks…. JK! JK! JK! JK!

I don’t mind so much how long a guy’s hair is so long as he is respectful and honors his authorities in the matter. (Most Christen parents prefer their sons to keep their heir shorter)

Cool! That's how I wear my hair too! And I have a curler that does ringlets as well, thought often the result looks a little cray. It's called running water. :-) (In other words, my hair is naturally curly.)

Yes, she has very pretty red hair ;) Mine only has red highlights…I don't know if that counts :)

My preference for girls' hair is no shorter than at the shoulder.

Personally, my hair is pretty long (almost down to my hips), so I usually wear my hair in a bun. But recently I've also done a single braid in the back. I like (like) having long hair, but I usually put it up throughout the week since I'm doing stuff around the house – and I usually have something done in my hair down when going out of the house (half-back, headband, or just down completely).

About guys' hair? I'm not even going to go there… ;-) (Plus, I really should get off here)

My cousin is a total redhead. I used to have some red in my hair, but not so much anymore. My dad's beard is dark brown and grey, but his mustache is red. :)

I'd love to do a Mohawk! I don't really like dreads though, too messy. Corn Rows are better.

Oh yeah? I had a friend who did my heir in Corn Rows once. I still don’t know if I liked it… I guess it just wasn’t me.

My hair is curly, brownish/reddish, stretches half way down my back, and I need a new way to fix it :P

I think the way you fix it matches you perfectly, but… I can understand the need for a new style. With all those curls, you would need a big clip, but if you have one, try pinning it up in the back so the curls still cascade a bit. :-)

My hair is medium brown and slightly curly. It is quite long (almost down to my waist). I have tried recently a new way of fixing it, putting it into two braids and twisting them up onto my head. That gets it out of the way. I love having long hair, but it can get in the way sometimes. :-P

My hair is a few inches below my shoulders. It has red, brown, and gold highlights in it. It depends on what lighting I'm in; in the winter sun it looks really really really red, then most of the time it looks brown. If you look closely at it, you can see the gold highlights. I am hoping to grow it to my waist. Actually, my mom just trimmed it a couple of minutes ago. :) Oh, and I have bangs, as you can see in my profile picture.

I've had bad experiences with long hair on guys. For instance, some guy came to church and his hair was about to his knees! It was AWFUL!!!!!!!!! (That family left when my dad started a Sunday School lesson on spanking.)

Oh, and about facial hair…I prefer not too much of it. I mean, it looks good on some people, but others…not. ;) I don't like the combination of a big bushy beard and then a bald head. ;)
