I'm starting a Quote of the Day collection...I'm interested in hearing any more good quotes that y'all have that I could add to it. It could be anything....a little section from a powerful sermon you heard, something you read in a book, etc. Thanks, everyone! :)

??Here are some of my absolute Favorites:??

"We are all missionaries. We carry our religion with us, or we allow our religion to carry us. Wherever we go, we either bring people nearer to Christ, or we repel them from Christ. We are working for the great Kingdom of God - the time when all people will turn to Christ as their leader, and will not be afraid to own him as such."  -Eric Liddell

"…If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well…" -Eric Liddell

"It is complete surrender." -Eric Liddell

"In the dust of defeat as well as the laurels of victory there is a glory to be found if one has done his best." -Eric Liddell

"No reserves. No retreats. No regrets" -William Borden

"You can give without loving. But you cannot love without giving." - Amy Carmichael

"God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supplies." - J. Hudson Taylor

"And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives…and  when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted."  -Nate Saint

“A servant of God has but one Master.” -George Muller

"No pit is so deep that God's love is not deeper still." -Corrie ten Boom

"Nevermind my age. Think of the Lord Jesus and His preciousness!" -Charles Spurgeon

"How many of us have enough trust, strength, and faith to believe that we could do the impossible?" - Rachel Joy Scott

"Tomorrow is not a promise, but a chance." - Rachel Joy Scott

"I have this theory that if one can go out of their way to show compassion, it will start a chain reaction of the same." - Rachel Joy Scott

"I am not going to apologize for speaking the Name of Jesus, I am not going to justify my faith to them, and I am not going to hide the light that God has put in me. If I have to sacrifice everything… I will." -Rachel Joy Scott

"Go after God. Whatever it takes, do it. And don't give the excuse, I am just a teenager or I'll do that when I grow up, because it doesn't work that way. God wants to know you NOW." -Rachel Joy Scott

I agree. Prepositions are fine words to end sentences with. (I hope some of you get the joke...)

"Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.” –Winston Churchill :D

Do you Like Rachel Scott quotes, Elizabeth? jk

Gnawings on a cherry,
Reeds strewn over the ground,
And the beckoning hand of a woman,
All lead in their own clever way,
To one place - the pit.

I thought perhaps you had gotten your Winston Churchill quote from the dictionary as well, though–because incidentally, that very quote was in a section in my dictionary that discusses the very question we've been discussing.

“Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

"Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.” –Winston Churchill :D

I apologize beforehand for being a hopeless Winston Churchill geek, but I must point out that this is a misquote, and that the actual point of his statement was +defending+ ending a sentence with a preposition. The whole story is that he was writing various articles for the newspapers during the war, and ended a sentence with a preposition. A conscientious reader wrote him a letter complaining of this solecism. Winston Churchill replied with a single sentence: "That is the type of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put."

In hopes of atoning for the above tirade, I offer for your consideration a few more quotes:

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it. -Mark Twain

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." ~Mark Twain

"It is curious that physical courage should be so common in the world and moral courage so rare."
-Mark Twain

“Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.”

“Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.”

“The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.”

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

“The secret to getting ahead is getting started.”

Katara: "Aang, do I act motherly?"
Aang: "Uh… I…" stalls for time, rubbing his eyes hesitatingly
Katara: "Don't rub your eyes and speak clearly when you talk!"
Aang: jolts "Yes, ma'am."

God's Maiden of Virtue

You just heard the phone ring, so you run through the kitchen to grab the phone, not knowing that your mom has just washed the floor. You slip, practically fall on your face, and hear your mom yell, "Careful!" Thanks for telling me after I fell!

This particular story didn't happen to me, but have you ever noticed how often you mom tells you to be careful after you hurt yourself?

That is so true. I'm seeing that I need to be way more diligent in my prayer. I want to see God do great things through me but I shouldn't expect anything when I don't pray as I ought to pray.
