Social Chatting #8

Yeah, that word gives me similar thoughts. English has some really strange words.
Sarah
I wonder what Noah Webster would think if he was reading this discussion? :-P
Emily H
Lol…! :P :P
Margaret Eddy
He would think: "I like them".
Sarah
Sorry, just a random thought. I get a lot of those. :-D
Emily H
That's fine:D I like randomness.
Sarah
LOL! "Such smart people! They could talk about anything, and yet they have chosen to discuss the peculiarities of the English language!" :-P
Margaret Eddy
I have a sister who calls her blog "Random Remarks".
Sarah
I bet it's not as random as Memverse, though! :-D
Margaret Eddy
I couldn't talk about anything. There are a few things that I could never wrap my head around: why people like swimming, for instance.
Emily H
That's great! I bet you all come up with great titles for your Chapters for Bible Bee. That's like the hardest thing in the whole Sword Study for me.
Margaret Eddy
No, probably not. She is pretty random for an Eddy, but that isn't saying much.
Sarah
You don't have to fully understand something to talk about it; in fact, we just demonstrated that! :-D
Margaret Eddy
I come up with scholarly sounding titles, and then the Bible Bee comes up with titles with exclamation marks and things that sound completely different!
Margaret Eddy
But I like to fully understand things I am talking about! (Probably why I am not as good at randomness as some people…)
Emily H
(I did not like the titles they had for 1 John. Some of them didn't really seem to fit the chapter very well, either.) Did you do titles for Ephesians? I did…it was hard! :P
Sarah
Mine tend to be more scholarly, but my sister's are always filled with exclamation marks. (And usually written in bright pink pen.)
Margaret Eddy
Like "God Loves Us!" for chapter three. I think that was the one that really made no sense.
Sarah
Is that why you don't participate in the Theology Discussions as much?
Emily H
Oh yes, especially that one. It didn't really fit at all.
Margaret Eddy
Yes.
I have opinions on all these matters, but really I want to just read and research until I understand perfectly, and everything is extremely clear. And usually I have plenty of other people who are voicing my understanding of passages already and better.
Margaret Eddy
I did titles for Ephesians.
I always sat there thinking: "Where to start?"
Sarah
And by the time everything (or is it every thing?) is perfectly clear, then the thread is at the bottom of the last page anyway. :-P
Sarah
Sounds like me! :-)
Margaret Eddy
I think I called chapter 3 of 1st John "Practice Righteousness" or something.
Emily H
Did you find the last three chapter harder to title than the first three? Beside the fact that I used all my imagination trying to come up with a good title for the first chapter (which still wasn't very good), I thought it was a lot harder to title 4-6 which didn't really have a theme throughout the whole chapter.
Margaret Eddy
Exactly. Then you would just be repeating what everyone came to a conclusion on a week ago, or fanning the flames of an argument that has finally agreed to disagree.
Margaret Eddy
And the chapter break-offs were in all the wrong places…
Sarah
Exactly! Someone (or is it some one?) finally understands me!
Emily H
Yes they were! :P Sometimes I wonder how they came up with some of those chapter divisions… Were you part of Ryan Sinni's practice doc?
Emily H
Memverse is the best place to find people who understand you! lol :P ;D
Margaret Eddy
Yes. I put my chapter titles there.
Margaret Eddy
I wouldn't go that far…
Sarah
Really? Why not?
Margaret Eddy
I think the problem with the 1st John chapter titles was that they were trying to be theme-ish.
Emily H
Okay, I thought I remembered that. I put my titles there too.
Margaret Eddy
I am not one of those understanding people. I do not even fully understand myself.
Emily H
Yeah, probably. I didn't like the exclamation points in the titles. :P
Sarah
Really? Then why are you talking about yourself? (Or is it your self?) (Am I driving you crazy with these parenthetical remarks? If so, let me know and I'll stop. :-P)
Margaret Eddy
I, also, have a vague recollection of that.
Margaret Eddy
I don't mind. They are better than grammar, spelling or punctuation errors.
Emily H
Your Ephesians titles are really good!! I especially like your one for chapter 2!
Sarah
So true! :-)
Margaret Eddy
Because, though I do not have a full understanding of myself, I have a better understanding than any other person, so I do it out of sacrifice for other people so that they also can at least know as much as I do.
Margaret Eddy
I don't remember any of yours… (or mine, for that matter…)
Margaret Eddy
I do seem to remember that I had to make several intuitive mental leaps for Chapter 2, however.
Emily H
I don't remember any of mine either, except for the one I stole from a song :P And I remember yours because I just went and read them right now.
Margaret Eddy
Oh! That's how you did it? I was thinking, "Wow, that is amazing that her brain didn't dump all of that information when she left the written test."
Emily H
Yep…I cheated. Although, when I read your title for chapter 2, I thought, "Oh, I remember that title, and how much I liked it". I just forgot that it was you that made it.
Margaret Eddy
I liked your Chapter 3 title. I had a hard time with that one.
I think it was Chapter 4 that I made intuitive mental leaps that I wasn't sure others could follow…
