Ok.. has anyone here read or watched the hunger Games?
Sarah B.
I know someone who will be on here a lot!!! :P :) Abigail?? lol
Dani(elle)
Really?! lol I saw the first and second movies and I love them!!! they are sooo awesome!!
Dani(elle)
They where a book series and now they are coming out as movies… the premise of the books/movies is kinda sick… but it shows how corrupt government and humans can become. if want to know more you can always look it up like on Wiki
Edit : just cause I don't feel particularly comfortable describing the story line when we have younger kids on here. it's just violent..
Sarah B.
The books are better! :D
Dani(elle)
SERIOUSLY?! have you seen the second movie?
2 Corinthians 5:17

Sarah B.
No I have not seen them at all. But my cousins have! :)
Andrew
doesn't even ask the obvious question of how do you know the books are better Do we really need a series of movies showing how wicked people can be?
Sarah B.
No we don't… I don't watch movies much anyhow. i'm an outdoors woman!
Matthew Minica
Haven't, and don't want to. I've heard some bad things about it…
Sarah B.
I would really like some one to tell me what makes the HG so much worse then Star Wars or LOTR… or maybe I don't. I have never watched any of them personally.
SavedByGrace
It isn't, really. In fact, I'd say it might be better than them, because it has some good principles behind its story. The people in the HG who are killing others are looked on as bad, and the only time the good characters kill is when they are defending themselves or others. And besides, most of the story isn't built around that anyway.
Sarah B.
That's what I thought of the books! :)
Andrew
Almost all futuristic movies are junk though, look at Star Trek… Incredible, with the idea that they were idk 200 years in the future. Now look at Star Wars, the episodes of which were started with the words "A long time ago".
SavedByGrace
But not all. And isn't that somewhat of a generalization?
In It Not Of It
Thanks dani for starting this….I was wondering if they were OK to read or not :D
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
A girl I knew described it to me once… Thoroughly disgusted me.
SavedByGrace
She probably didn't describe it well, then. :P

I still can't really make up my mind if I would recommend them to someone else or not… I enjoyed them, but that just me! :P I can see how someone else could be grossed out by them.
I guess I would recommend the books with caution! :)
CountryGirl<3
I really liked the HG. I have read all the books and have watched the first movie. I don't think there is anything wrong with them, there may not be any obvious spiritual moral, but I think you can learn something from them.

the main reason I'm not allowed to read the books is because they are really graphic. The movies aren't that bad though.
Barachel the Buzzite of the Kindred of Ram
ALL movies are bad
Dani(elle)

Barachel the Buzzite of the Kindred of Ram

The book is more graphic than the movie? Wow…didn't know that was possible….
SavedByGrace
The movie isn't very graphic, really…
Abigail Rose
I love the Hunger Games! I've read all of the books and seen the second and first movies, and can't wait for the mockingjay movies (I heard they are making two for the one book :( )!!
I just got all the books for Christmas from my lovely aunt and now I'm super happy!! :-) :-) :-)
In It Not Of It
@sbg I didn't see the movie…but I just never thought of a book as graphic ….or at least more so than a movie…
What is this whole hunger games thingabout anyways?
Dani(elle)
AAAHHH!!!!I can't wait either the second movie WAS SOOOO GOOOD!!!!!!!!! did u like the third book?
@Stefani - yeah the books are apparently VERY graphic but the movies not bad.. there were a few point where it's kinda like 'that's gross' but they don't last very long.
Dani(elle)
whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! I didn't know any of that lol but now I do!! he-he you better delete that before you spoil the ending for everyone else.. hehe

Haven't been on here for a while, but I thought I'd post here. :)
I have both read and watched the Hunger Games. They really aren't as bad as some people think. The story itself uses violence to speak against violence, to state it simply. As SavedByGrace pointed out, the good characters only kill to defend, and the bad characters are denounced for their violence and cruelty.
And the good characters are certainly admirable for their courage and loyalty. All HG fans know what Katniss so unselfishly did to save her sister. Peeta wouldn't allow the Capitol to change him into what he was not. Cinna boldly made a statement against the tyranny of the Capitol, although it cost him dearly. And much, much more that couldn't all be listed.
Also, in our world today, we see many of the struggles exemplified in the world of Panem. I won't describe these in detail here, but if you've read the books or seen the movies, you'll understand. ;)
Tori K
The books are more graphic because those scenes are longer- and therefore more detailed- than in the movie. Still, they aren't too bad. :D
Dani(elle)
that was an awesome post. Thank you so much! :)
I love that scene with Peeta when he's talking about how if he dies he still wants to be him.
And the dress from the second one that Cinna 'made' was EPIC!!
Sarah B.
Good post! You really brought out the good side of the books! ;)

Good post…. You pretty much stated what I think I am just not very good at typing out my opinion lol:) I think the HG teaches us to stand up for what we believe even if it costs us a lot.

is there a name for the like finger sign thingy they do?
Tori K
Not that I know of…usually people just call it the District 12 hand sign.
It's also the Boy/Girl Scout sign, if that matters at all :P

Actually yea…why do you ask?
And you won't get an answer.
