"Most people don't expect you to understand what we're going to tell you in this book. And even if you understand, they don't' expect you to care. And even if you care, they don't expect you to do anything about it. And even if you do something about it, they don't expect it to last. We do." ~Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris

"You know, Toad, I think we should stop eating. We will soon be sick!"
"Oh, you're right. Ah, Frog, let us eat one last cookie, and then we will stop."
————————————-
"Frog, let us eat one very last cookie, and then we will stop."
—————————————
"We must stop eating."
"Yes, we need will-power!"
"So…what is will-power?"
"Will-power is trying hard not to do something that you really want to do…"
"You mean, like, trying hard not to eat all of these cookies?"
"Yes. I'll put the cookies in a box."
———————————————
"There. Now we won't eat any more cookies."
"But, we can open the box."
"Hmm, that is true. Umm, I'll tie some string around the box."
———————————————-
"There. Now we won't eat any more cookies."
"But, we can cut the string, and open the box…"
"That is true. Uh, I'll put the box up high on the shelf!"
———————————————
"There! Now we won't eat any more cookies!"
"But, we can climb the ladder, and take the box down from the shelf, and, cut the string, and, open the box!"
"Oh, that is true."
——————————————
"Hey birds! Here are cookies! Get your cookies! Come on, eat 'em up."
—————————————
"Ohhh, now we have no more cookies to eat, not even one."
"Yes, but we have lots and lots of will power."
"You may keep it all. I'm going home now to bake a cake."

Those quotes just reminded me of this:

If you can't see this…or are not allowed to view YouTube, basically, it is Cookie Monster learning a lesson in self control. :P

Boromir (Hebrews 12:1-3)

"The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. That's because we typically begin at the wrong starting point: ourselves. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose." Rick Warren

“Turtle,” said Toad, “carry me to the island. Frog is there. He wants to be alone.”
“If Frog wants to be alone,” said the turtle, “why don’t you leave him alone?”
“Maybe you are right,” said Toad. “Maybe Frog does not want to see me. Maybe he does not want me to be his friend anymore.”
“Yes, maybe,” said the turtle as he swam to the island.

“I just saw something awful!” cried the mouse. “It was big and brown!”
“Something covered with sticks and leaves are moving this way!” cried a squirrel.
“Here comes a thing with horns!” shouted a rabbit. “Run for your life!”
“What can it be?” asked Frog.
Frog hid behind a rock. He saw the thing coming. It was big and brown. It was covered with sticks
and leaves. It had two horns.
“Frog,” cried the thing. “Where are you?” “Good heavens!” said Frog. “That thing is Toad!”

Toad opened the front door. He looked out into the night.
Frog was not there. “I am worried,” said Toad. “What if something terrible has happened?” said Toad.
“What if Frog had fallen into a deep hole and cannot get out? I will never see him again!”
Toad opened the door once more. Frog was not on the path.
“What if Frog is lost in the woods?” said toad. “What if he is cold and wet and hungry?”
“What if Frog is being chased by a big animal with many sharp teeth? What if he is being eaten up?” cried Toad.
“My friend and I will never have another Christmas together!”

No, I can't view YouTube, but I can imagine that…it's so sad that they changed good old Cookie Monster to "Veggie Monster". :( :P

Yes, they did. They didn't want to encourage kids to eat so many cookies, so they thought a Veggie Monster would fit the ticket. :( Unfortunately, you can't crumble up veggies like you can cookies, unless they've invented a crumble-veggies. :( I loved Cookie Monster when I was younger!

That. Is. The most. STUPID. Excuse for changing Cookie Monster. Seriously. If anything, that should be a cautionary tale. That's like asking Warner Bros. to change Looney Tunes because some little kid decided to shoot his brother in the face. What if a little kid tries eating his veggies too fast, and chokes to death?

You just go and tell them that. The other thing they changed is that the thingy in the trash can now lives in a recyle bin.

OK, I can see why they did that, but still. It wasn't supposed to be a good example - it was supposed to be entertainment!

Oldest Brother: "I don't like the sound of that."
Youngest Brother: "Maybe if we ignore it, it'll go away."

Youngest Brother: "Someone's not ignoring it!"

I don't know who wrote this, it was at the end of a book, I'm not sure if the author of the book wrote it or not.

A Dream of the Second Advent

I dreamt that in the stilly hush of night–
Deep midnight–I was startled from my sleep
By a clear sound, as of a trumpet! Loud
It swelled, and louder, thrilling every nerve,
Making the heart beat wildly, strangely, till
All other senses seemed in hearing lost.
Up from my couch I sprang, in trembling haste
Cast on my garments, wondering to behold
Through half-closed shutters sudden radiance gleam,
More vivid, clearer than the glare of day.
What marvel then that with a breathless hope,
That gave me wings, forth from my home I rushed,
Though heaved the earth as if as if instinct with life,
Its very dust awakening! Can it be?
Is this the call, "Behold the Bridegroom comes?"
Comes He, the long-expected, long-desired?
Crowds thronged the street, with every face upturned,
Gazing into the sky, the flaming sky,
Where every cloud was like a throne of light:
None cold look back, not even to behold
If those beloved were night; one thrilling thought
Rapt all the multitude, "Can He be near?"
Then cries of terror rose–I scarcely heard–
And buildings rocked, and shook, and crashing fell
I scarcely marked their fall–the trembling ground
Rose like the billowy sea–I scarcely felt
The motion–such intensity of hope,
Joy, expectation, flooded all my soul.
A tide of living light, o'erwhelming all
The hopes and fears, the cares and woes of earth.
Could any doubt remain? Lo! from afar
A sound of "Halleluiah!" ne'er before
Had mortal ear drunk in such heavenly strain,
Save when on Bethlehem's plain the shepherds heard
The music of the skies. Behold! behold!
Like white-winged angels rise the radiant throng,
That from yon cemetery's gloomy verge
Have burst, immortal, glorious, undefiled!
Bright as the sun their crowns celestial shine,
Yet I behold them with undazzled eye.
Oh, that you glittering canopy of light
Would burst asunder, that I might behold
Him whom so long, not seeing, I have loved!
It parted, lo, it opened, as I stood
With clasped hands stretched, towards heaven, my eager gaze
Fixed on the widening glory. Suddenly–
As if the burden of the flesh no more
Could fetter down the aspiring soul to earth,
As if the fleshy nature were consumed,
Lost in the glowing ecstasy of love–
I soared aloft, I mounted through the air.
Free as a spirit rose to meet my Lord
With such a cry of rapture, that I woke!

Oh, misery, to wake in darkness, wake
From vision of unutterable joy,
Instead of trumpet-sound and song of heaven
To hear the dull clock measuring out time,
When I had seemed to touch eternity!
In the first pang of disappointed hope,
I wept that I could wake from such a dream,
Until Faith gently whispered, " Wherefore weep
To lose the faint dim shadow of a joy,
Of which the substance shall one day be thine?
Live in the hope–that hope shall brighten life,
And sanctify it to its highest end."
Fast roll the chariot wheels of Time. He comes!
The Spirit and the Bride expectant wait.
Even so come, Lord Jesus! Saviour! come!

"I am Gandalf; and Gandalf means…me!" ~Gandalf (You don't say?)

Bilbo: "I'm sorry."
Balin: "Apology accepted." (You can only understand this if you've seen the movie.)

"Is he a great wizard, or is he more like you?" ~Bilbo, talking to Gandalf (Gandalf looks at him like, "Excuse me?")
