(you probably won't see this but) is your picture at your house?? That looks soooo much like our house (except we usually don't have that much snow :P). We have deck railing like that, and a patio chair and table and a big tree right off from the deck exactly like that :P :D

Well, actually, I just wanted your opinion... The other Violin 2 player at our orchestra has recommended that I get a shoulder rest. I have not been using one, and seem to be doing okay without it... what are the benefits, and would you recommend getting one?

I would recommend getting one, for the reasons Emily gave, and also if you want to do vibrato, forget it without the shoulder rest. If you get one though, make sure its a good brand, nothin worse than your shoulder rest falling off in the middle of a song. I use a Kun, but am not an expert or even a frequent player, and only have experience with one other really cheap brand, so I don't really know what's good out there. My sister got an imitation Kun, one time and it broke after a few mo.

Never knew you played violin! There's a lot of violinists on here, I guess! :D Thank you! I will definitely be looking into it. Does anybody else have any suggestions as to what brand?
