2 Corinthians 5:17

Just some verses for us to meditate on…

Let us therefore *follow after the things which make for peace*, and things wherewith one may edify another.
-Romans 14:19

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, *but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.* And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
-Ephesians 4:29-32

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, *which are not convenient:* but rather giving of thanks.
-Ephesians 5:4

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are *true*, whatsoever things are *honest*, whatsoever things are *just*, whatsoever things are *pure*, whatsoever things are *lovely*, whatsoever things are of *good report*; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, *think on these things*.
-Philippians 4:8

Please, please don't just skim over these verses. Think about them, and apply them to your life.

Emmy

Thanks, Rachel, for sharing these convicting verses. They are definitely good reminders, as I know I most defintely do not always obey them here on the forums (or in everday life, for that matter)!

Following your lead, here are a few more (NIV 1984):

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another, and build each other up….

Hebrews 3:13
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Ephesians 4:2
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

1 Timothy 4:12
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

2 Corinthians 5:17

You're welcome, although I give the credit to the LORD, who brought these verses to mind.

Thank for the additional verses, Emmy! Those are good ones as well.

Oh, I have a good one too!

Job 6:6 Can flavorless food be eaten without salt?
Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

EDIT: That actually was the first verse that came to mind when I saw this thread. I wouldn't go so far as to say that God brought it to mind, but there could be a certain metaphorical value: a simile wrapped in a hyperbole, lying in a manger…
