I'm part German! To be more specific, I'm German and English on my mom's side, and Swedish on my dad's. :-)

I'm German! Alsatian, to be exact.

Who else here is Swedish? I'm about 1/8 Swedish, as one of my great-grandparents was 100% Swedish.

*hangs head (jk)* My last name is German in background.
Coolness! So is mine!

Yes indeed! Our ancestor, who emigrated (or is it immigrated?) to America some time in the distant past, told the clerk that his name was Mee-nee-kha. The clerk wrote it down as Minika. Then some time later, a schoolboy told his teacher his name, Minika, but didn't know how to spell it. The teacher wrote it down as Minica.

At least, those are pieced-together fragments of stories I've heard. They could or could not be true. :P

And Matthew, did you know that Granny went to high school with Grandpa H.? I gathered that fragment of info last night. Granny said that after they got married, Grandpa told her that he used to think that her crossing her ankles in high school was so cute. She said she didn't know whether to think that that was sweet or strange. xP

It's funny how we think of older people that we never knew as how we saw them in pictures. Granny remembers them a lot different than they looked in their pictures. They were really real people!
