Does it ever work out good for you? Or do you think I should just give it up right now? :PThat is usually the circumstance under which I pretend to be an extrovert.Pretending to be an extrovert. The pokerface sense of humor may have something to do with that.I've only tried (i.e., I only remember trying) something like that one time, and felt just about the same way. :PGood grief. I so wish I could do that. :PMe too. :P I tried to talk to someone at the store once, and just about died. xP

I do too sometimes, actually. You just gotta know how to hide it. :PI so agree!!! There are so many opportunities for extreme awkwardness, and I always get super self-conscience anytime we go out to eat with someone.I am always terrified of going to lunch with anyone except my family. Too much multitasking involved. Talking takes pretty much 100% of my brain's concentration. Add that to eating without dumping anything in my lap or off the table, and going out to eat is a terrifying experience, looked forward to with much foreboding.I know. I was like "*Facedesk, facedesk, facedesk!!! Next time I am soooo going to keep my mouth shut!!!" xPOh my xPI did that today and got invited to lunch 0.oI occasionally will pretend to be an extrovert for my own amusement. I would like to know this trick. I generally try to suppress as much emotion as possible in such situations, but I cannot ever seem to do it.

That is the personality I used at the Bible Bee this year, so that I didn't get back and only have met two people, like last year, and now I'm practically famous, so I guess it worked. Not that I wanted to be famous.

Try to think completely with your brain. Compartmentalize the fact that you really don't want to be there and convince your brain you'll deal with it later, and just use one hundred percent of your energy and thinking toward what the person is saying and what you will say next. Looking the oppressor in the face can help concentration. Having thought through beforehand what you will say in certain situations helps as well, and it is good to have about five topics you know pretty well that you can fall back on.
Don't ask them their favorite color ever, though.

I am very grateful for the advice. Prior planning; yes, that is what I lack. Hardly ever do I plan what I'm going to say long before I'm going to say it; but doing so would almost certainly behoove me greatly. Thank you; if I can remember all of what you have said, I will attempt to try it.
