wakes up from another nap and decides to visit MV for a bit
His Servant
Okay. So I went there expecting to to be good, but it was so much better than I thought. The middle of the afternoon on the first day, I got to hear Anthony Mathenia (Paul Washer's pastor) and it was SO GOOD. A lot of it was about prayer, and super convicting. And then that night we got to hear Paul Washer and wow, that definitely was probably my favorite sermon I've ever heard him preach. It was about Ezekiel 37 about the valley of dry bones and the extreme importance of prayer and about God's power in salvation. It was SO good. All 4 of us agreed it was the best sermon of the whole conference. His other sermon was really good to, and definitely made me think. I'm really can't wait till they put the sermons online so others could listen to them. ;)
Got to meet Paul Washer. I didn't say as much as I would have liked, but thanked him for his work and how it has been extremely influential in my spiritual life and growth. You just have to meet him to know what I'm talking about, but he is one of the most joyful people I've ever met. He is so compassionate and humble and you can tell that he lives what he preaches.
And I could keep on gushing and gushing about it, but I'll have to stop at some point.

That sounds so awesome. ^ _ ^ That sermon sounds really, really good… I love hearing spiritual themes drawn from Ezekiel 37, so I'm sure hearing what Paul Washer had to say about it was amazing… Definitely tell me when the sermons are available online!
Yay! Glad you worked up the courage to do that. =)

Got to hear Tim Challies twice, and they were good. Definitely not what I was expecting though. And I enjoyed Voddie Baucham's 2nd message about the Gospel. Heard James White twice, but they were both at times when I was extremely tired, so I didn't enjoy them as much as I wish I had. Very interesting person to listen to, though.

Yeah, that was basically my reaction to the one talk I've heard from Tim Challies. =P Looking forward to hearing Voddie Baucham's message. :D Haha, that's funny about James White. I actually had a similar experience when I saw him live. I didn't know too much about him, so I sort of got lost in my own thoughts at times when he was talking, even though he was a pretty engaging speaker. I would love to see him now, though, because I have so much more appreciation for all that he's done.

I was. xP And last night on the ride home, I couldn't get over how challenging both his messages so I had some great time thinking about what he said in relation to my life. I can't wait till they get on-line too! I hope they put up Anthony's sermon too, though I don't know if they will, since it was a break-out session. Todd Friel was there (sp?) and I almost got to meet him, but then he left before we could.
Yeah, me too. My dad helped me out a great deal. xP
The second one was a lecture and it was about textual stuff in the Bible. Maybe a tad over my head… =/ And the other… gimme a minute… I'm trying to sort through all the 16 sermons I heard. xP

Yeah. I think what threw me was that his entire personality was so much different than I thought it was going to be…I dunno. I just was expecting Tim Challies to be different. Yeah, he is definitely interesting to listen to (James White) but I didn't get as much out of it as I wish I had.

Ooo, that would have been nice to meet Todd Friel. He's a really cool guy. We actually started using one of his DVDs for Sunday School at church today. It's a 7-part series about evangelism. It's great so far. We've met him a couple of different times. There's a picture of him, Dad, Nicolas, and me up in our room. :D
Lol. xD
Haha, that's actually a lot of what I've been listening to him about recently. So I imagine I would have appreciated it a lot more than you did. XD But yeah, he throws around a lot of technical terms and manuscript names that take a few listens to get used to. But I've been listening to so much of it recently that I understand almost all of his vocabulary now. xP

Welll. If my dad hadn't done that I dunno if I would have said it. I actually thought it would be awkward too, but Paul Washer is really great at carrying on the conversation and knowing what to say so I don't regret the conversation in the least. ^ _ ^ So glad I had the opportunity.
