I do believe that it was manga (comic) first, then anime. That's how a lot of shows come about. :)

Lawl. I've never done a 12-episode binge watch before. I tried doing that with the 8 episodes that make up Black Rock Shooter, but I switched to Arpeggio of Blue Steel after the 4th one. :P
