From what I know, a lot of people in my circles actually like  and sing "do you wanna build a snow man "  more than "Let it Go".

Huh… interesting! People in your circles would probably be Christians, who interpret the movie how it's supposed to be interpreted.

I think some people misinterpret the movie because they want to use to promote bad things–not what it was intended to be used for. But Christians like to misinterpret it because it gives them something to hate on. (And I'm not saying Zach is one of those; I think he's fallen for their conspiracy theories.)

The movie teaches a principle and applies it to fantasy. Now, it's our turn to apply that principle to real things. Some will apply it to good things, and some to bad. As Christians, it's our responsibility to apply it to good things. Just like Elsa's powers.

Haven't you come to the conclusion that I'm making my own arguments and not just pasting scripts from websites?

But anyway, we should probably change the subject now?

I know you're not pasting scripts, but you haven't even seen the movie–so everything you're saying the movie teaches comes from those reviews' interpretation. One side of the case.

Favorite color, anyone?

Black and the secondary colors.

Good idea to change the subject, Sarah. I thought I had a chance since I was the one who had actually seen the movie. But maybe I just need to… doesn't say it

Now what, Zack? Well…. umm… how about I make you boys bracelets to remember this debate by. Jk

Haha a debate isn't all that uncommon for me, I'll have to admit. After all, my personality is The Debater.

I like debates…except the ones at school. They actually pick good topics, but I always end up on the side I don't want to be on. :)

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

ZachB

That stinks. Except that you get to pick apart your opponent's argument, which can be fun if the team isn't giving good arguments for their side xD

M. W.

True.. But the other people get the easy side(because it's in English class and I need to help people. =)).The topic we're working on now is "There shouldn't be unhealthy food at school"

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

ZachB

You're still debating that topic? Your sister said you were on that topic several days ago. You're on opposite sides, right?

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

I wish I could be part of the debate….but I don't speak spanish…and I'm not going to choose sides……..oh well.

It's in English class! No Spanish needed. But I think it's dumb topic to be debating about.

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

ZachB

Well it wouldn't matter what language it is in 'cuz I wouldn't pick sides. But yea, they could debate about something a lot better than that.

So did I… but I didn't learn to only listen to one side about a movie I'd never seen.

It happens that I've read multiple reviews of Courageous that say things like it's stereotypical, gratuitous about drugs, unfair to fathers, and misrepresenting of Biblical families. If I read all those reviews and then closed my mind to anything else, I'd miss out on a wonderful movie!

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

I have read reviews on both sides, Nathan. And if the reviews were opposing teams on a debate, the side against Frozen would win.

So what do you think of watching the movie to see if all the things you have read about it are true? The only way to be a good witness (one way or another) is to see it yourself. What do you think?

Ddd5aeff0d37e8c2aa9782a6316c57a8?s=128&d=mm

Sarah B.

Why do I encourage this debate, when I am supposed to be changing the topic.
Maybe my personality should be The Debate Encourager. :P

Should we watch a violent R rated movie just to see if the reviews are true? Of course not! Now I know Frozen is totally not an R rated movie, but if we don't agree with it or don't like the crazy songs in it, why watch it? Don't you think the people who have written the reviews, good and bad, have watched it?

Ddd5aeff0d37e8c2aa9782a6316c57a8?s=128&d=mm

Sarah B.

You could fast forward through the song?
idk, but in my opinion there are wayyy to many reviews written by people who are too scared to watch the movie they are reviewing… but that's not all, just some.

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

ZachB

It's obvious when they're just ranting and raving for or against it. Those aren't reviews, they're just rants.

Ddd5aeff0d37e8c2aa9782a6316c57a8?s=128&d=mm

I just don't think you can say it's a bad movie that no Christian should watch unless you have seen it yourself. There are plenty of Christians who don't think the movie alters your way of thinking.

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

ZachB

Christian families have different values. For example, some families say girls should only wear skirts and dresses and no jeans, others think jeans are fine. Some families eschew internet, others don't. Not to say that one is right and another is wrong, but one may think that for themselves a movie isn't something worth watching. For me, Frozen is not a movie I would watch, partly because of the extremely annoying songs, as well as the plot etc.

So… basically you have no problem arguing against it, because you're even interested in seeing it. Which means it's even more likely that you are not giving it a fair hearing. ;)

I have no interest in seeing it from the 30 seconds I have seen, from the plot of the movie, from the songs, from the educated reviews I have read, etc.

I have read reviews on both sides, Nathan. And if the reviews were opposing teams on a debate, the site against Frozen would win.

Let me mention something I never told you about. I once agreed with you, Zach. I heard both sides of the issue, and I thought the side against it was more convincing. It seemed more logical, more thought out, more deeply examined. But then I saw the movie for myself, and my eyes were opened to the fact that, while the side against it is definitely more thought out, it is actually illogical. Those reviews took a concept that could be misrepresented, and did just that. And it grew from there. The movie is really very simple, and when people try to be complex in their examination of it, they find bad things that aren't there.

You could find plenty of positive stuff that you are ignoring if what you had seen created a desire in you to see the movie. Based on what you and Nathan have said neither of you are even trying one tiny bit to be unbiased. Also, no one said you should be interested in seeing the movie, you're about 5 years past the high end of its targeted audience.

Forget the unbiased part. :) partly biased, partly just not factual arguments. Imo

5c3d80d9bf04a645711fc934afb54a80?s=128&d=mm

There's no need to be unbiased in a debate. If both sides were unbiased, what need for debate would there be? I read the reviews and came up with my conclusion. True, I have never seen the movie, but having read the plot, I dare say my imagination is good enough to come up with a reasonable accurate depiction of it. And yes, what 15 year old guy is going to want to watch a movie geared towards girls 10 and under?

Nathan likes it though!

What is your main problem with the movie?

You're free to skip it for whatever reasons you choose, but you can't rightly go around telling everyone it's bad if you haven't seen it. Your imagination has not come up with a reasonable depiction of it–take it from someone who HAS seen it. ;-)

So you're like trying to squelch my freedom of speech? Just because you think its a good movie doesn't make it a good movie and doesn't mean I can't say it's a movie I wouldn't recommend watching. And as one who has not experienced my imagination, I don't think you can say I haven't come up with a reasonable depiction of it ;P
