No, I didn't compete last year. But I went to nationals in 2010 and 2011! :)

Ok! I'm studying and I can't type 2 million words a second, so be patient! ;P

Nationals is great. You go to a hotel in a selected city where all the other contestants are, and you register after that. Early morning on contest day you have a 200 question multiple choice test which this year will be done on a computer like the locals test. You also have an oral rounds where you recite passages on a mini-stage in front of some judges and other contestants and their families. Then the top 15 in each age division move up to the semi finals in the ball room stage. You individually come up to the microphone and recite a passage, and if you make 1 error you are disqualified. The top 5 then move up to a final challenge round consisting of more verse recitation and questions from the book of study. The top three are awarded prizes.

In between things there are various activities for people to do, and there are usually tons of Bible Bee-ers hanging out most of the time. There is a Quizlet meeting and a Memverse meeting too there. The community and fellowship there is just incredible. My personal summary for nationals is that it is as close to heaven as we'll get on this earth. You have to experience it to truly understand what I mean by that.

I don't do square dancing at all so I don't know how it works. Marija did it when she qualified so she knows better than I do.

That's wonderful! If I qualify it would be such a blessing to go! One problem… We happened to plan our Disney world vacation on the exact dates as the nationals! Funny, right! I'm sure we could move it around if I did qualifying!

Yeah, they did have it. That was the Nashville year. I don't know if there was square dancing in 2009, though. I don't remember there being any.
