I bought a sword today! (For you LOTR lovers out there, it's Hadhafang, Arwen's sword; really good quality and actually has an edge to it! No sheath unfortunately, though.) I'm definitely looking forward to putting it up somewhere when we get home. (Where I am to put it up remains to be seen, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.) ;)

I got it off of Craigslist, but the brand I got it from is called United Cutlery, and they make swords and knives from different movies. That particular brand is really expensive (Hadhafang was worth about $208 but I got it for less than $100) but if you search and wait long enough you should get a good deal. Also that brand only some of the swords have sheaths, and those you have to get separate and they are REEEALLY expensive. Amazon is always good… make sure to check the reviews, though. Often there are differing opinions (e.g. some people say that it was well packaged, obviously brand new while others say the blade had finger prints on it and the box was a plain brown one, not the original packaging), so you might feel you're taking a chance if you order off of Amazon.

United Cutlery seems to be pretty reliable. I don't have much experience in the realm of buying swords and knives, but I do know that UC's quality is very good; the blades are stainless steel which makes them easy to clean, and they come with either a tabletop stand or a plaque to mount the sword on to hang on the wall. I was glad the blade does have an edge to it; I kept accidentally poking little holes in the box when I was putting it away. The only problem I had with mine was it feels a little off balance, but it's small enough where I can definitely get used to it; at first it only makes it a little more difficult to wield.

I've wanted a sword for a long time, and when this came up I was really excited. We're actually still down in the Lower 48 (San Diego area) so we've been laughing (kind of) about what would happen if we tried to take it through TSA. :P

UC is really crappy. Don't nobody else go buying their crap. It's a cheapy brand and they ain't got no idea how to make knives and swords. If y'all looking for a cheap weapon that won't last then be my guest and waste your money on their crap. UC stuff is all for show and the second you use it it will fall apart. I am ashamed to say I have owned two of their knives….

Their knives and swords aren't for real use; they're for decoration and prop use. I've seen six or seven of their different things and they were all very sturdy.
