Happy things! Ballet, sports, God, guns, swords, LOTR, books, movies, writing, history, weird animals, snow, music, what we've had to eat today…and I could go on for hours!!!

Those are interesting, especially using integrals with 3D shapes. They're so practical too. For example, you could use integrals to find out how much energy it would take to blow a planet apart.
How is knowing how much energy it would take to blow a _planet_ apart be practical? ;p We haven't done integrals with 3D shapes yet. We're still on integrating graphs of two dimensions.
If you're creating a Death Star! Duh!

Are you planning on creating a death star?

If you didn't know that, whenever you watched movies with planets blowing up, you would wonder. Soon, the question would begin eating at you. You wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Eventually, you would be driven mad! It is very important to know how to calculate these kinds of things.

I'm ok, but my ankle is killing me! I was really foolish and went to ballet yesterday. :(
Ooh, ouch. Get plenty of ice on that!

Yeah, I live for ice. And elevation, and compression. Not so much that rest one though… lol

OOHHH. So the practical application of knowing how much energy is required to blow up a planet is for creating movies in which planets are blown up?

I'm afraid Earth doesn't have the resources for me to do such a thing… I'll probably have to find other planets with plenty of ore, and for that I'd probably need to figure out how to make something move at or past light speed so I can get to such planets. I have some work to do…

No. It's that no person in his right mind would be able to live without knowing how much energy it takes to blow up a planet after thinking of the question.

But we can talk about them without involving it!!!!!

That would be impossible, because human language probably involves math.

That answer can easily be obtained without calculus. The answer is "lots"

Ah, but not so high that they cannot be accomplished in one lifetime. 'Cuz if they can't, then they're un obtainable.
