Writing is not my best section :p

No, I was thinking of a different "donut" problem, but that one doesn't look too hard, coming from an analytical standpoint.

I currently have 1151 verses to review. I don't do MV during BB season, so I still have a lot of catch up.

…When someone laughs at you for saying "these ones" and tries to explain that apparently, that's not proper English.

I know! I'm still confused. xP Maybe that having a plural of "one" is a little strange or something. But in the context I was talking about a pile of books and said something like "these ones are something something". If that makes sense. :P

That's perfectly proper English. Tell your friend that a grammarian says so! :P

Early Christians were socialists… although that worked out a lot better than when other people tried it.

Cory(being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel)

Early Christians were socialists... although that worked out a lot better than when other people tried it.

That's actually not true. Socialism is the equal redistribution of wealth, often by force. The Jerusalem church didn't practice Socialism: we are told that each gave as God laid it on their hearts. They aren't forced or coerced into giving, and if they desired, could give only part of their wealth (as we see by the story of Ananias and Sapphira; Acts 5:1-11). Also, these love gifts weren't redistributed so that everyone had equal wealth, it was given to each "according to their need"(Acts 2:45) Thus, (to give you a modern day example), if someone had a hospital bill, and couldn't pay for it all, the church may have helped them out and made up the balance of the bill. Also, in many Socialist countries, it is common for the government to own the means of production. In the Jerusalem church, however, the people owned the means of production, not the church (Although they could sell their businesses and give the proceeds to the Church if they wished). Does that explain a little better to you why I believe it's not correct to say that the Acts church practiced Socialism? (Sorry if I seem rude or anything. I've been preparing for a debate about Socialism v. Capitalism :P)

If that is what you mean by socialism, then I certainly agree with you. People are too corrupt to handle that kind of power. I was just thinking of socialism in the sense that they shared everything they had. It's a great idea, but it only works if it is voluntary.

I understand. I don't know if you know, but there's actually a section in the theology forms about Socialism.

Just started this week, so halfway through the first week.

Great! What do you think of it so far?

…you look up "extenuation" on dictionary.com for a school assignment, and find this:

  1. The act of extenuating.
  2. The state of being extenuated.
  3. Something that extenuates.

Thanks for the help… xD

That is why you want to search for the lexical form of the word. ;)

Well, to be honest, I think I like the Study Guide way of doing it better. :P But it's cool to do it again after not having done the SS for 1.5 years. And I've already been learning some things!

I didn't know that you were doing the SS, too! How far are you (I'm talking to you, too, Rachel) into it? I think that I'd agree that I might like the SG better… although SS is easier :).

Yes, I was hoping to do John, but since my mom wanted to do the Sword Study and we already had the materials I thought I'd do it with the family. This week is the first week, like I said above :)

Both of you: Yes, I think the SG helped me learn how to study on my own better. x) But to me, the SS feels like it it has more order to it. I'm really enjoying doing the SS way of it again, though! xD It's hard to say which I like better, since both have great qualities. :D
Anna: I am in the 2nd week…I'm moving pretty slowly through it because I'm so busy. ;)

@Rachel: It's nice to take it at a slower pace…when we did it for Bible Bee, there was always the rush to finish it up so that we could then have time to review it and study other things.
@Matthew: Oops! I didn't take the time to read every single post since I've been gone, so I didn't see that one. That's neat that y'all are doing it as a family! :)

It's nice to have used the SG and SS. I think that it's helpful to learn a variety of study methods :).
