I'll have to look that up! First though...is this 17 minutes too? xP

Haha! No, closer to 4-5 minutes, I think. ;) My copy is 5 pages.

You know, Sonata Pathetique is made up of three different movements - you can take them one at a time. ;)

Haha, I'm on my way.

The second movement is the best known and is really pretty and really easy to play. The first is the hardest. And the longest.

I don't mind long songs, I just don't want to start learning a 17+ minute long piece right now, lol ;P But now I have another idea, so I'll look that one up too XD

Shall I expound on the cello, arguably my favorite instrument? Yes? Alright, here goes... I'm listening to the Bach Cello Suites right now - should help, right? Though I have to turn the volume up to block out the violin practice. XD It's such a mellow and relaxing instrument. Like a cup of black tea.... The violin will cry with you, but the cello will remind you that "there's some good left in this world, and it's worth fighting for". (There, I've got tea and LOTR in here, do I need anything else?) It has such a huge range, even for a string instrument. It's certainly the least painful string instrument to listen to as it's being learned. Lower quality cellos also have better sound and range of expression that a lower quality violin does not have (and certainly not the viola!). Its proportions are perfect. And you can hug it! XP You don't have to hold it on your shoulder, eliminating some of the injuries you might get from playing violin or viola improperly. And if we didn't have cello, we wouldn't have the Bach Cello Suites!

The cello may be nice, but it is nothing compared to the piano! If you don't believe me, just look at the piano. There are 88 good reasons to believe right there in black and white. The piano far surpasses the range of nearly every other string instrument. Or is it a string instrument? People searching for words to describe the piano have tagged it anything from string to percussion. It is so special, so unique, that some even gave it a whole separate classification – keyboard instruments. A piano player can play ten separate notes at the same time, enabling him to preform his own harmony. The piano is not bogged down on a single part. It can play anything from bass to treble simultaneously. It can be played slowly, quickly, angrily, and peacefully. Besides, if we didn't have the piano, music teachers would not be able to make puns involving the "keys" to success.

Well, there's generally one piano max in an orchestra... whereas there are tons of cellos, because they're so amazing! So, Matthew, what did you think I'd say?

Pretty much that… :P Pianos aren't even usually required as an instrument in an orchestra, though they're nice.

That just proves my point! Pianos are so amazing that only one piano is needed to preform a task that takes tons of cellos.

And when there's no piano in an orchestra, it's because all the other instruments (including the cellos) are intimidated by how awesome the piano is. xP

And shall I mention that the cello is less intimidating? And it's a lot easier to listen to a beginning cellist than a beginning pianist. (I can say that, because my brother is learning both, and I much prefer listening to him start the cello.)

The harder the path, the richer the goal. (I don't think that's a proper sentence, but it sounds pretty good)

^Just FYI, Beethoven actually wrote his Sonata Pathetique before he lost his hearing.^

Recently I've been really enjoying listening to some of Mozart's piano sonatas! Some of them are so pretty and I'd love to learn them, but then I see the sheet music… XD
