A great verse to use on friends: "You are my friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15:14 NKJV).

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

You could also sound weird but be slightly more refined by saying "Oh! People have come here today!"

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

Yeah, I was trying to see how many ways I could find to say the exact same thing and got carried away.

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Yeah, you can't say "there has been people." That's subject-verb disagreement. You have to say "there HAVE been people." :P XD

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

LOL! I think I'm harder on myself, grammar-wise, than my English teacher would be… but then my English teacher is my mom. :D

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

My English teacher used to be my father, but now I'm taking an English course at our community college.

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Oh, I see. That's great that you're taking English at your community college! I'm going to take a composition course online this fall, so I guess I'll have a different English teacher soon.

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

My course is online as well. I prefer online courses. It seem like such a waste spend time driving to school. I've been spoiled as a homeschooler!

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

I know, I've already done two online, and I like it a lot. Haha, I guess so! :D

And it doesn't look like there's a quiz today. :(

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

But we don't know what the questions were going to be, and there are only two of us here. :P

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

Only two of us acknowledge that we are here. Maybe there are other people in the background. I've been taking a course on the historical books. I could probably come up with a few questions.

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

You might be right.

Okay. Are you going to make them multiple choice?

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

This may be too hard, but…
The book of Judges was written in a chiastic structure. That means that the first story corresponds to the last story, and the second story corresponds to the second to last story, etc. What story is the pivot point of the book of judge (i.e. what story is in the middle).

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

No, he was at the end. He was the worst judge. He basically just did his own thing. The judge in the middle was a turning point. All the judges before him were more or less good. He he started out good but ended up setting himself up at a practical king and landing Israel in idolatry.

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

It's kind of a hard question if you didn't have to study the book of judges for a test. Do you want the answer?

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Oh, you mean a turning point, not just the middle of the book? Okay.

I am totally guessing, in case you couldn't tell, haha. :P Was it Gideon? He was kind of in the middle, and he was nowhere close to perfect, but he did go against Midian…

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

It was Gideon. He started out by tearing down the statue of Baal and killing the Midianites (although he had some issues with faith). In the middle of the battle, however, he went out for personal vengeance on the Israelites who wouldn't help him. In the end, while he gave glory to God with his mouth, he became a practical king and created an image which led Israel into idolatry.

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Yay! Hahaha. Wow, you've been doing some pretty in-depth study of Judges!

Do you want to make another one, or do you want me to?

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Okay. (I don't know if you love Greek words and/or did BB in 2013… if not, this might not be fair.)

In Ephesians, Paul said that we were predestinated by God's will, to the praise of the glory of His charis. What is charis?

a) grace
b) love
c) mercy
d)forgiveness

C6a152228207f095fcf5c002f1841372?s=128&d=mm

Joshua S

Well, I don't know the Greek word, but I remember the verse from studying for the Bible Bee. The answer is 'a': grace.

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Right.

I can't stay much longer, but I have a few more minutes, so if you have another question, I'm ready!
