Well, I just got back from a campaign trip to IN (that's all I'm going to say because we're not really supposed to talk about that here :P) and I'm trying to study for both a CLEP test (hopefully this month) and the ACT (next month). :D What about you?
Good for you! lol. Nice- are you planning on taking just the ACT or both ACT and SAT?
Matthew Minica
Matthew, I should probably know, but what is a CompTIA certification?
CompTIA is the most recognized standard for generic IT (Information Technology) certifications. In order to get the certification I have to take two exams covering various techy stuff. Once I achieve them, IT certifications will be valuable additions to my resume. :)
K
I'm not planning to take the SAT. This is actually the second time I'm taking the ACT. :D
Matthew Minica
Studying for the CompTIA A+ certification! You?Wow, that is intense. I'll be praying for you! You'll do fine ;) Right now mainly being tired from staying up until midnight doing a videocall.... *yawns*
Thanks! :) I'm hoping to take the exams this fall. It's been pretty fun so far, studying for big tests is right down my alley. ;D
Oh wow, midnight? I guess that's not quite as late as 3 AM though… xD
K
Wow, okay. So are you interested in doing web design or something like that?
Cory(being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel)

Awesome! I will be praying for you as well :) I know there are some people who do better on the ACT bc of their skill set, and some who do better on the SAT. Even though I've never taken the ACT, I think with my current SAT score, I would probably do better on the SAT :P
Are you taking any dual enrollment classes?

~hehe~ yeah those do get a little out of control sometimes…… :P
K
Thank you!! :) I've never tried the SAT, so I don't know, but I think I'd do better with the ACT anyway, haha. XD
Just finished two dual enrollment classes from Cedarville, and planning to take several more! What about you?

Okay, nice! I will be taking a couple classes from a community college next semester :) One of them will be a foreign language! O.O
Matthew Minica
Wow, okay. So are you interested in doing web design or something like that?
Maybe! Web design is just one part of the huge and ever-widening field of IT. My dad works in cyber security, for example. I could also could do other types of programming, networking, database management, computer repair, etc. x) The A+ certification is supposed to be for those who want to get their foot in the door in IT - from there, I plan to do some more learning and see what suits me best.
Cory(being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel)
Well, good talking! I have to go now :( Cu later guys!
K
Cory- that's neat! Which foreign language? Have you tried to learn a foreign language before, or is this totally new?
Matthew- that's pretty cool that your dad works in cyber security! My dad works with computers too, and my older brother is interested in web design, so I have a couple computer experts in the house. :D Are you planning to go to college, or is this certification instead of college?
K
Ah, okay. Bye Cory!
Matthew Minica
Bye Cory! Good to talk to you!
Matthew Minica
Yeah, that's one of the reasons I chose to pursue IT, actually. :) My dad has been a great help in my education. Haha, okay! (How old is your older brother?) I'm not planning on college at this point, so yes, this certification is sort of in place of college, although many people with college degrees in computers also get certifications. One of the reasons I chose this route is that college is just so expensive, so although certifications aren't free they're quite a bit more affordable for me!
K
That's really great! My brother graduated last year, but he'd been getting some college credit already through CollegePlus. He's getting an online degree now. (You may have met Peter? He was at Nats last year.)
That makes a lot of sense. :) College is really expensive, not to mention the four years it takes, haha.
Matthew Minica
Okay! Hmm, I can't remember if I met him or not…
Yeah, the time it takes was also a pretty big factor in my decision. ;)
K
That's okay. He was volunteering most of the time. XD
Did you just graduate this last year?
Matthew Minica
Yes, that's correct. And where are you in school?
K
I'm just finishing my junior year (which makes for some confusing conversations when I forget to differentiate between BB and highschool terminology :P).
Matthew Minica
Lol! xD I usually tried to stick with terminology like "11th grade", even though for some reason it doesn't sound as cool. :P
K
Haha, that's probably a good idea. Once I carried on a conversation with someone for at least five minutes before I realized that she was talking about school and I was talking about BB. She was trying to figure out how I could be a Junior for four years and then a Senior for two more. XD Which made perfect sense to me, but not really to anyone else. :P
And I need to go now…
Matthew Minica
Lol!! Okay, now, that's pretty funny. xD
Okay, bye Katrina! Good to talk to you! :)
K
:D It was nice chatting! Bye!
Matthew Minica
Hey, a few pages of actual conversation! We got somewhere! xD
ZachB
There were people on here! :O
Matthew Minica
Yeah! Why weren't you on?? =P JK
Gloria
Neither are we..... xP I'm sorry we can't see you all, Gloria! :( Maybe sometime...sometime, we'll plan a trip to Greece. ;DYou can come and see *us* too, you're so close!! ;)O.O I have to save up to go to Thessaloniki for the Championship! :) ^we missionaries aren't the richest people ya know... :p^
lol, Too bad. or maybe if you and I go to Nats again… :p :D
Cory(being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel)
Happy Mothers' day, all! How can you bless your mom today?

I will be taking Spanish. I haven't really tried learning a new language before- I self taught myself some rudimentary French, and (obviously :P) some Greek for BB. That's about it though! So…. yeah, should be interesting!
This is so weird. My dad works with computers too! He's a computer programmer with HP enterprise….. 0.0

More questions, although they all probably have already been asked... 1) What grade are you? *11th grade* 2) Favorite song right now? *Um... O Glorious Love of Christ My Lord Divine* 3) Do you wear braces? Glasses? Etc.? *Retainers* 4) Spotify or Pandora? *Sound Cloud! (I think that's the right answer)* 5) Favorite season? *Summer* 6) Pants or skirts? *Skirt! No, actually, I usually wear pants.* 7) Favorite sport? *Logic Puzzles* 8)Funny childhood memory? *Once when I was three I decided to go to the bakery without telling my parents. They were talking so I knew I had plenty of time. Grown ups can just talk and talk and talk and talk. I threw my little red bike down our front steps and drove to the nearby bakery. The baker was not at his counter, so I had to stand there waiting. It was very unprofessional of him. When he came out, I decided the whole adventure had not been such a good idea, ran out of the bakery, and rode by bike all the way home. I didn't stop until I reached my door. Then I looked back and saw the baker stand at the end of our shared driveway. He was so creepy! Who follows his customers to their homes? My parents were still talking or course. I told my father that there was a man standing at the end of our driveway, but the baker had gone. I decided to let the issue rest there. Later, the baker told my mother (apparently I had forgotten a glove). When questioned, I informed my mother that I had stayed on the side walk and not crossed the street.* 9) What happens when you get scared half to death twice? *You end up 3/4 dead (Being scared half to death once leaves you only half alive. If you get scared half to death again, that would be half or the half life you have left, which makes one fourth, and one half plus one fourth makes 3/4).* 10) Why is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, which means a fear of long words, such a long word??? *I seriously doubt that "hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia" really means the fear of long words. The beginning means "water horse." I feel to see what that has to do with long words.*

More questions, although they all probably have already been asked... 1) What grade are you? *9th* 2) Favorite song right now? *Christian- Hanging by a Moment by Lifehouse, Secular- Airplanes by 5 Seconds of Summer* 3) Do you wear braces? Glasses? Etc.? *Glasses. (And braces could possible be in my near future...)* 4) Spotify or Pandora? *Spotify!* 5) Favorite season? *Winter. Or summer. :p* 6) Pants or skirts? *Pants! lol* 7) Favorite sport? *Swimming?* 8)Funny childhood memory? *thinking that bleach is what is in your mouth... And wondering why the towel wouldn't turn white when i put part of it in my mouth. lol xP* 9) What happens when you get scared half to death twice? *you wither away and die. (I'm making sugar cookies so I don't feel like thinking about it... :p)* 10) Why is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, which means a fear of long words, such a long word??? *I have no idea. What are you asking me for? xP*

It is a real word, according to dictionary.com.

It is a real word, according to dictionary.com.
I don't think he's questioning whether it's a real word. He's saying he doesn't think it means "fear of long words."
EDIT–Never mind. :P
ZachB
1) What grade are you?
12th
2) Favorite song right now?
It's hard to choose! Either Oh Fear by Moriah Peters, Say A Prayer by Veridia, Not Backing Down by Blanca, Help Me Find It by Sidewalk Prophets, What Faith Can Do by Kutless, or Friends by Michael W Smith, or Longer Than A Lifetime by Sanctus Real, or…I can go on..and on..and on! xD
3) Do you wear braces? Glasses? Etc.?
Braces
4) Spotify or Pandora?
Don't use either
5) Favorite season?
Summer, of course! Or maybe fall, because that's when we have Bible Bee nationals
6) Pants or skirts?
Skirts, obviously. (JK!) Never skirts for guys (except when you're running a skirt race like I did) and either for girls.
7) Favorite sport?
Soccer
8) Funny childhood memory?
A pillow fight back in 2011 xD (that was avenged in 2016!!)
9) What happens when you get scared half to death twice?
You get scared half to death twice.
10) Why is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, which means a fear of long words, such a long word???
Because if it were shorter it would not exist.
Joshua S
It's not a word according to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary. Sites like dictionary.com are not always the most accurate. Besides, that entry looks very suspicious. There's no word history or alternate forms.
Matthew Minica
More questions, although they all probably have already been asked... 1) What grade are you? *Ahem. Loaded question alert. =P* 2) Favorite song right now? *_Trust in You_ by Lauren Daigle, hands down, same as the last time you asked me. :P xD* 3) Do you wear braces? Glasses? Etc.? *Nope!* 4) Spotify or Pandora? *Haven't ever used either, but probably Spotify.* 5) Favorite season? *Autumn, usually* 6) Pants or skirts? *Skirts on girls, pants on guys. ;D* 7) Favorite sport? *Probably ping-pong. I actually called that sport "table tennis" once without realizing it, in normal casual conversation. What do you call the fear of becoming like Eugene Meltzner? xP* 8)Funny childhood memory? *When I was almost two, when my sister Courtney was born and brought home from the hospital, Mama and Daddy wanted to show me the new baby, but when they said "Where's the baby?" I went over to Mama and patted her tummy. ;D* 9) What happens when you get scared half to death twice? *You get scared to death. Which is just as much a figure of speech as "getting scared half to death" - in fact, I'm pretty sure the latter came from the former. ;)* 10) Why is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, which means a fear of long words, such a long word??? *Whoever invented the word was in an ironic mood.*
