I love Psalm 27 too! Either that one or Hebrews 10:19-39 was definitely my favorite. But Psalm 27:14 is my favorite single verse right now. =)

I agree, Isaiah 6:1-5 was fun to quote! And I love the one from Psalm 119 you mentioned, and all of Psalm 119.

Rachel. I've been debating over this for the longest time... do you think I should post an update on the Calvinist thread? I was thinking of putting the paper I sent you on there. But, it might not do that much good, seeing pretty much everyone who was posting over there has all but left Memverse. x)

Hmmm…good question. You can if you want to, but like you said, most everyone has left. xP It wouldn't exactly hurt anything, though! ;)

I remember memorizing verse 12 and thinking it was funny that David prayed "Do not deliver me."

One of my favorites was Psalm 18:30-35. It became very dear to me when my Mom suddenly had to go to the hospital for a couple days while we were studying last year…I remember sitting looking out at the stars at night just worrying about her, but then I started quoting that verse and it comforted me. =) Also, when i felt like I couldn't study any more, God was faithful and gave strength. That verse always reminded me of that.

Haha, yeah, the wording is a little funny, but it makes sense once you read the rest of the verse. (What version do you use?)

Haha, see, that's my problem. xP I can't decide. xP If I do post over there, it almost seems like I would just be looking for attention edit: since probably nobody currently on would care much.

Ooh, yes! I love cross references, haha. I've really loved all of Isaiah 40 ever since I memorized it last year.

One of my favorite things about the Bible is that you can find something in one book and then learn more about it in a completely separate books written by different people in different time periods.

Psalm 18:30-35 is a really good one. Unfortunately for me, I still remember it mainly as "that passage I passed in the second oral round at 2009 Nats." :P

For me, Psalm 18:30-35 was a passage I quoted in Semi-Finals! xD

I remember you quoting that! I was so happy someone got Psalm 18:30-35 because it was one of my favorites. And you were KJV too! x)

Yeah, well, the real problem comes when it's "the passage you got disqualified on". xP

K

Yes!! When I study on my own, I spend most of my time looking for good cross references. It's probably my favorite part of any study.

I always remember reading a book called "To Bend a Bronze Bow," or something like that, whenever I hear that passage.

I do the same. Unfortunately, the test writers didn't have too many cross-reference questions this year.

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Matthew, you got disqualified on Psalm 18:30-35? I don't remember that, but I guess you'd remember better than I do.

Joshua, is that book written about a guy named Daniel around the time of Jesus? I'm thinking I might have read the same one but can't remember the right name.

xD Well, then, do you really want to post it, or do you feel like you should, or would you prefer not to? xP doesn't want to tell you to do something that would make you unhappy =P

I know, I was disappointed that they hardly put any cross reference questions on the test at all, especially since there were so many in the summer study. Did you like the broad approach for cross referencing they used?

No, but I was just commenting about associating things with passages, that a couple passages have a permanent blight on them for me now. =P

Yeah, well, the real problem comes when it's "the passage you got disqualified on". xP

Oh, yeah. There's these certain passages, whenever I read them, I can't help but remember who got out on it or what happened to this person, or whatnot. Like it's Ephesians 5:1-20 for you, Ephesians 6:10-18 for Bella, etc.

Oh, I see what you mean. 1 Peter 2:20-23… groan And I never found out why I got disqualified on that one. :P

I don't remember the study guide too well. I think it makes sense to try to find cross references that deal with broad themes for the test. Bible Bee contestants (including myself) often get caught up in obscure cross references. Then again, it's nice to zoom in sometimes as well.

Okay, Rachel… you really made me laugh that time. xD xP Uh, ahem. I feel like I should for the sake of updating the ones I was debating with, but since that purpose might not even be accomplished…… (I finally used an ellipsis in the correct way xP) Everything else aside, I don't exactly want to. xP

Okay. I liked the cross references in the study, but when I tried to do it on my own, it was way harder than I thought it'd be. How did you do cross references for Nats?

6eaece308ed9916f6205164f3617f683?s=128&d=mm

K

Yeah, it was pretty tough, especially since it was my first passage in Semis, but it was five years ago and it doesn't really bother me now, haha.

It's alright! :( *hugs*

I'm not sure you want to ask me that question. I didn't study the two cross references that were actually on the test! Last year, I used the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge to find cross references. This year, while I may still do that, I'm hoping to find cross references by doing topical studies. I can search key phrases such as "light" or "the Holy Spirit" on the computer to find relevant passages, and I can find resources that deal with such topics.
