Add an Avatar to your Profile
Alert users will have noticed the new avatars next to their blog comments. As you can see, we spent less on our default avatars than James Cameron did on his. You, however, face no such restrictions. If you don't like the avatar next to your name, feel free to change it at Gravatar.

I just had a little look at the site, Leah, and it seems very straight forward. Find or create the image you want to use to represent 'you' first, and save it as a jpeg file. Then go to the Gravatar site and follow the on-screen instructions... which is what I will be doing sometime soon. My days as a cheeky pink blob are coming to an end!
The saga continues... I have found a couple of websites that might help people create their own avatar from a photo. The first one is http://www.befunky.com/ which lets you transform a photo into a cartoon, or an oil painting, or a charcoal drawing, etc. I used something called Line Artopia on the BeFunky site first, then used that new image on the Gravatar site http://en.gravatar.com/ Eventually, that new image should replace my current image, but it apparently is not an instant thing, so you will see Miss Pink still showing up as my avatar for now.
Another fun website is http://fotoflexer.com/ which lets you do all sorts of things to your photo. You can even 'enhance' or 're-touch' a photo, removing all your wrinkles and blemishes! (I resisted enhancing mine, since I am already created in the image of God, which is good enough for me!)
Thanks, Heather-Kate, I went to the site that was suggested and chose a picture of my dogs, and Andy was right; it is very easy. I'm just not sure of the meaning of "avatar."
That last site you listed sounds fun; guess there's no need for photo shop any more. I'm passing that info on to my daughter since she lost her copy of it.
How do I add the Avatar picture to the feedback pages?
I hope someone can answer that for you. I just followed the directions from the gravatar site and the picture "magically" appeared on the blog site.
Phil - hopefully www.GetSatisfaction.com, the company that provides the feedback section of the website, will add support for www.Gravatar.com (the company that allows for globally recognized avatars based on your email address and that we use here on Memverse) soon. It is the most requested feature on GetSatisfaction. Until then, the only option is to upload the photo again on GetSatisfaction.
Is gravatar safe?
KB, yes. Gravatar is supported by many of the leading blog and content management websites.
Gravater is cool
I have tried to add a picture but it work.
Oh never mind I fixed it
I went to Gravatar and changed my photo over a day ago, but Memverse is still only showing my old one. I even deleted the old picture from Gravatar, but Memverse still hasn't recognized that I've changed it. Does anyone know why it might not be working?
I guess I need to go see Avatar to understand what it means?!?
