Changes to Memory Verse Tags
As many of you commented, the previous tag cloud had become a cluttered mess. For that reason, we have made the following changes in the hope that this will make it more useful.
You will still be able to tag your personal memory verses with whichever tags you wish. For each verse in a given translation, the four most popular tags will become part of the tag cloud and will also show up as the 'Memverse Tags' on verses. The tag cloud will take a few months to reflect all the existing tags and, over time, some of the tags currently in the tag cloud will no longer be represented as other tags become more popular.
Some of you have volunteered to help curate the tag cloud. For now, we are going to let the experiment run a little longer and see what emerges. I realize that many of you will have theological differences with the four most popular tags for any given verse. That is a weakness of any 'democratic' system.
You will notice that some verses don't yet have any 'Memverse Tags' i.e. the four most popular tags have not yet been calculated. Those will be updated as you, or anyone else, continues to tag that verse.
Remember that the tagging system is intended to capture the theme or key ideas behind the verse. In many cases, the best tags will not be words that are in the verse.
Finally, thanks for bearing with us as we complete the migration to our new server. We have solved many of the most fatal problems and will continue to iron out the remaining wrinkles over the next week or so. The change was more complicated and stressful than we had imagined! As we wolf down our turkey tomorrow, we are thankful that it is now behind us.

I agree, the tag cloud does look nicer, and I'm sure it will be a benefit to many. However, for me, though I don't know if anyone has the same problem, I had a rather extensive tag list, and because of this most of it is erased. I guess it is mostly my fault, since I didn't need to make as many tags as I did, but I spent quite a long time making them. But since most people don't have my problem, and since I'm sure it took a lot of work to do this, thank you, Andy, for doing it. :)
SavedByGrace - You can still see your own tags from the My Verses page; all this does is make the "Tag Cloud" page more manageable for browsing. And as people start to add the same tags you add to their verses, more of your tags may be in the selection visible on the Tag Cloud page.
@Alex Watt--That's what I expected before, but when I tried to see all of my tags, only one or none were left, which is a lot smaller than what I had there before. However, I can deal with this, and I understand how trivial this probably is with all of the other work being done on Memverse. Thank you for making Memverse as simple and enjoyable as possible!
@SBG Are you not seeing your tags on the 'My Verses' page? None of the tags should have been deleted. They just won't all show up in the tag cloud.
I like the tag cloud Andy! Although it still looks a bit cluttered, the highlighting does help somewhat. Thanks to you and everyone else who has been working on the website. I like the changes so far :-)
Happy Thanksgiving MemVerse users!!!

It looks great! Thanks for all the work that you do on Memverse!
This is a little off topic...but I was wondering, if on the "Recently on Memverse" it would go back to how many minutes ago something was memorized? Right now it says something like this "[2011-11-24 03:15:34 UTC]" Just wondering...
Bethany :) I like your "new" name - BTW you little brother did great in Finals! He quoted his scriptures so well, and I love his big smile ;)
Andy--I made sure of it. Many of my tags were certainly gone. I'm assuming that this is because I put too many tags on each verse. But again, if this isn't as important as the other "fires" you are fighting, you don't have to try to check into it. :)
Also, happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Here's a good verse for the holiday...
Colossians 2:6-7--
"So then, just as you received Jesus Christ as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
It probably won't be hard for any of us to find something to be thankful for--I could find at least ten things if I look around the room! Remember to thank God today (and really, every day) for His amazing grace on us, both in salvation and in giving us so many earthly blessings! :)
Thanks Andy! The tag cloud does look neater.
