Neat! Thanks for the info! I'm glad that contestants aren't stuck in one age division most of the time :). Do you know if the Q/A session is them quizzing us on John 7-12, them asking us get-to-know-you questions, or us asking them questions about the format of WT and OR?

Probably the latter. Or, just general questions about how Wednesday will work, the timeframe, locations and everything.

It sounds like it will be a bit like the Game Show week, which was one of the best (maybe _the_ best) weeks of my life, so I definitely don't want to miss it! :)

They said they want all contestants to attend the Tuesday evening contestant fun night. Guess you don't *have* to come, but you'll be missing out on what sounds like is going to become as fun of a tradition as the square dance!

Yes, I did. I've talked to another Bible Bee-er and she agrees with me. I just don't want anyone to feel left out, and like there's an elite group of Bible Bee-ers. I remember when I knew hardly anyone at Nationals, and Nationals is now a lot more fun because people included me. I don't see any reason that someone would want to be in the MV and Quizlet pictures. I just don't see why we should be off playing our games while others are standing around at the Contestant Fun Night feeling lonely (and then it might turn into a Contestant Miserable Night). So, my suggestion is that we have the Quizlet and MV meeting for the pictures and maybe have a short get-to-know-y'all time, and then come back to the CFN. I'm emailing the Bible Bee and asking them if we could have the prayer time at the Contestant Fun Night. It would be really neat for all the contestants to break up into groups and pray together.

Please know that I'm just trying to be nice, friendly, and inclusive to newbies. Whether or not we are friendly or not to them may impact them for the rest of their lives. I understand (to some extent :)) why some of y'all may not want others to be a part of the meetings, but don't you think it would be a lot more loving if we included others?

BTW, please don't quote me on all of this over on the Quizlet set about the meet-up. If I want to say anything on there, I'll say it :).

Wow! I can't believe that I said all that. Please, I really didn't want to say that, it's just that when I feel like people are being left out, I have to stand up for them. I'm not mad at anyone and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm just trying to show love to those who don't know anyone. Looking forward to seeing y'all soon!

I completely get what you are saying Anna. Please understand that I am not trying to be the mean exclusive guy either. But, I the main point of the meetings are to get to know the members of your online community better. If we're going to include everyone, why even have a meeting? We might as well stay at the CFN…
As I said, I completely understand your point. I just don't think that we need to be that concerned about this. After all, the BB has agreed to allot us the time and space for the meeting. There will be plenty of other time to fellowship with other contestants throughout the competition. We're not trying to be a clique and keep anyone away, but this has been a tradition, and a good one too (from what I've seen, I've never participated in one before).
Another think to think about as well is the fact that between Quizlet and MV we probably have maybe a third of the contestants participating in the Bible Bee- one of the Quizlet groups alone has over 190 members.
Again, this is up to everyone to decide. I am perfectly fine with the poster being open to everyone, but the meeting is specifically for these groups. Like I said, having everyone defeats the purpose. We're not trying to be an elitist group, just a different private meeting…

1. Rachel: I'm thinking the best time to take the pic would be right when the MV Meeting starts…that way most people will be there… You are planning to come to the contestant fun night, right?

2. We need two girls to go on stage at the end. If need be, I will be one of those people, but if other people volunteer, they can go ahead and do that.

3. I really don't think this is an issue to really discuss too much… I don't think anyone is trying to be mean and leave people out. I think right now we'll just see how it goes at Nationals. I'm guessing, because of the setting, that it won't be completely MV and Quizlet exclusive…but, I don't know for sure. Obviously we want to have the pictures be the users of these sites exclusively, but as to the other, I guess we'll see at Nationals.

4. If anyone has Dutch Blitz cards and doesn't mind, can you bring them to nats? I'll be bringing a few sets and setting up our annual Dutch Blitz game sometime that weekend…probably in the Family Fun Area.

5. Don't forget about our MV photo 'contest'. ;)

6. We'll have the poster in the senior room during the Quizlet and MV Meeting for people to sign. Because of the many people who will want to sign we need to make sure to not write too large. :P

7. I just received confirmation from Mr. Street, Juniors, Primaries, and any other people who would like to join the MV and Quizlet Meeting are allowed to do that.

1. Okay, good! I knew that no one was trying to be mean, I just thought that we might accidentally be mean if we went off by ourselves and got together. I hope no one minded me saying all of that. Believe me, I did not want to, but James 4:17 kept popping into my head :). Will the meetings be in the same room as the CFN? It seems like if we did that, we would be only excluding people from the group picture, which is understandable.

2. I'll need to ask my parents first, but we have two sets of Dutch Blitz, so we might be able to bring them.

Thanks you for sharing your opinion Anna! Basically, I think we shouldn't shun people, but we shouldn't open the door wide to them either. We should conduct ourselves in a Christian manner towards those who aren't on these sites, but that doesn't mean we can't have a private meeting, either. :)

Oh, you're not! Actually, I feel like I am since I'm saying stuff that no one really likes :P. And I don't think that it's bad for friends to get to know each other :). It's just that I know what it's like to be the one that doesn't know anyone and feels lonely, and I know what a difference it makes when people include you. Sorry if it feels like I'm being mean; I'm just trying to be nice to first-timers and the lonely.
