I don't know. Which one?
Sarah B.
"Servant In Your Heavenly House" :D
What have you been doing today? My sister is getting ready (getting me ready) for a wedding that is a month away… it is reallllly funny!
biblebee
Oh, okay :)
I've been doing school and stuff with my family…it's my mom's birthday today :) A wedding?? eagerly waits for you to tell me more
Sarah B.
Birthdays are always fun! I love to surprise my mom! What did you do for it?
Okay, so my sister was +insisting+ that I wear something besides my black dress (the one I always wear). She wants me to wear something more colorful… she teases that I dress like a nun to weddings. Then she gets a call from the bride's sister-in-law (to be) asking if she would serve in the kitchen and the requirement is that she has to wear black!!! So now she has to wear one of my black dresses! Poor girl…. LOL She is being really funny about it.
biblebee
We made her a special birthday breakfast. Gave her cards and presents. Took her out to lunch and then she and my dad have spent the rest of the day together =]
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! That is hilarious!!!
Seth W.
Not tired of it yet. :) However, I go back to college on Wednesday, so I won't be on as much after tomorrow.
I like corn hole well enough, I wouldn't say I'm great at it but I'm okay. It's the kind of game that I don't think is particularly great but is a fun thing to do while talking to people.

"Servant In Your Heavenly House" :D
Good choice. :)
At first I thought you meant your sister was getting married, and then I remembered you saying that you were the oldest, so I realized you must have meant someone else's wedding. Unless your sister is getting married a bit young… :)
Sarah B.
FYI, I don't ask this many questions in person… at least I don't think I do. :)
What do you like to do in your "free time" besides memverse? ^I say "free time" because all our time belongs to the Lord. ;)^
Edit- No, she's not getting married yet. Out of all likely hood I'll go first. :P
Seth W.
Tell your mom happy birthday for me! (Unless she wouldn't like that, having pretty much no idea who I am…)
biblebee
"It's the kind of game that I don't think is particularly great but is a fun thing to do while talking to people."
I don't think it's the funnest (Yes I know that's not a word) game. I've only played it once before…at nationals…and I embarrassed myself dreadfully… And since I don't talk much to "outside" people I don't find it good for that :)
Seth W.
Meany questions? :)
biblebee
Oh, no. I'll tell her :) She remembers who you are :)
Sarah B.
Do you have a lot of friends at college yet?
@Carissa- Yeah! Tell her the same from me! She won't know me for sure! Haha!
Seth W.
Well, right now I'm going through some of the songs that I like on Stantons, and trying to pick out the best ones to post. :)
biblebee
Okay :)
Oh…she knows who you are :)
Sarah B.
Oh good! I can't wait!
(I can't imagine myself saying "goodie" in real life!)
@ Carissa- So what did the M.s say about me? jk
Seth W.
Well, I have a lot of acquaintances. I don't know if anyone is really at the 'friend' level yet. Well, I suppose there are a couple.
biblebee
I know how that is (though I'm not at college…but just in general with everyone I know)…
biblebee
They were two doors down from us so we went over and knocked on their door and they came out and we were taking with them and then Rachel told Elissa to get me your letter. And so she gave me your letter and said that you told them to ask me how I knew you. :)
Sarah B.
Haha! Yeah, I wasn't going to tell them… I thought if I kept them wondering they would be more likely to make sure you got the letter. :D
biblebee
HAHAHAHA!!! Well, they remembered :) And if they hadn't I would have reminded them! ^If I could have gotten up the courage to ask them about it^
Goodnight y'all!
Seth W.
Goodnight!
Sarah B.
She's not gone yet…. lol
Seth W.
Neither are you, I guess. :)
Seth W.
Whenever you all get on tomorrow, here's a few more choral arrangements - I'd forgotten about a couple of these. :)
I like the TTBB version better, but it doesn't have the full recording, so here's the SATB. If you click the 'related products' button you can hear the TTBB excerpt, if you want.

I just discovered this one recently, and I like it. It's pretty simple, but still sounds good. I'm thinking about doing this one in choir…
http://listeninglab.stantons.com/title/wayfaring-stranger-the/231597/?s=1
An upbeat A Capella song - one of the first songs I listened to on this site, and had since forgot about.

Another fun energetic arrangement

And of course one from Mary McDonald. :)

Oh, I'll go ahead and put this on in too. Joseph Martin again, same composer as "Empty Now". You can probably hear the similarities in writing style.

Sarah B.
The Wayfaring Stranger was one of the songs we used to sing when our home church would sing at another church on Sunday evenings (only the version we sang was a more bluegrass). I like it too!
To tell the truth, “Casting Our Crowns Down” and “Crown Him Mighty King” didn’t thrill me as much. Maybe when it comes to this style of music I just don’t care for up beat…I don’t know. However I have always liked the song “Crown Him Mighty King” because it is the same as a Psalm tune I know well. :)
I think Mary Mcdonald’s song is my favorite of that collection. :)
Thank you!!!
Sarah B.
Sarah/Carissa - If you want my input, go to a piano and go up from middle C and tell me how you can comfortably sing - don't try to go as high as you possibly can if starts hurting, but where you think you can hit the right note (even if it's not perfectly). Then start at middle C and go down. Tip- you may be able to sing some of the high notes easier if you relax, don't try to have a 'full-bodied' voice at the very top of your range. Try to keep your head level - don't raise your head on the high notes or drop it on the low notes, and keep your throat as relaxed as possible.
The G that’s four keys to the left of middle C is as low as I can sing, and fourteen keys from middle C to the right is as high as I can sing. :) (My sister says it’s a G3 to a B5)
biblebee
What is the range of a soprano?
Seth W.
That's pretty much what I expected about the songs - in general I like the more meditative songs as well, but when picking out songs for choir I try to keep a variety of types of songs so no one gets bored, realizing that not everyone has the same preferences as I do. The upbeat songs can also be really good learning tools, and frankly they're fun to sing. :)
I assume you're only counting white keys? :) Okay, G3 to B5 - Well, assuming that you're comfortable in the higher notes you would probably be a soprano 1 (the higher soprano). As far as most church choral music goes (like what I've been posting), sopranos rarely go higher than a A (just under your highest note). When the sopranos are singing in unison with the alto's they sometimes go down to an A (just above your lowest note), but tend to stay above middle C. Soprano 2's have about the same range, except they don't usually go higher than an F (the top line of the treble clef). Of course, if you get into more classical music then it's more common to stay way up in the high notes, and I've seen music with notes as high as a D in it, but those are usually optional, since very few people can sing that. :)
Carissa, does that answer your question too?
Sarah B.
Have you ever heard the song, “Find Us Faithful”? I love the words to that song!
Okay, thank you! It’s good to know just what I am as far as singing goes. Yes, that was just counting white keys. :)
So since you won’t be here much for a while… is there anything we can be praying for you? ;)
biblebee
Okay, I think I'm a soprano 2. My lowest note is the g below middle c to the second g above middle c
Seth W.
Oh, this one's really, really good - Guess who wrote it. :)
Seth W.
No, I haven't heard "Find Us Faithful" - I'll try to find it and listen to it.
Actually, yes - I am taking a LOT of classes this semester, so I could use some prayer for endurance. Even more, that God would give me opportunities to share the gospel with those who don't know Him. The campus is a great witnessing field, and of you could pray that God would use me as an instrument to bring the knowledge of Him to a lost world that would be appreciated, and also that he would keep me 'unstained from the world' - which is certainly more challenging in college than it was being homeschooled.
Seth W.
Probably so.
Sarah B.
claps That song is so beautiful! I have never heard it before! :)
The first time I heard “Find Us Faithful” sung it was by a friend… and I haven’t heard it sung so well since. But I still love the words!
Thank you! Yes, I will be praying for you whenever I think of you (when I listen to Mary Mcdonald's music for sure). :) Psalm 20:4
Seth W.
I haven't been able to find a lead sheet for "Find Us Faithful" (a free one, that is), otherwise I would print it off and play with it. Do you know anywhere I could get it?
Sarah B.
Unfortunately not. I'll be looking as well, and let you know if I find anything.
biblebee
I'll be praying for you!
Sarah B.
I am not able to find anything as far as sheet music for "Find Us Faithful". :(
This is the best I could find, but I think you still have to buy it to get a copy:

When will your next college break be?
It’s your turn to ask a question. :)
His Servant
Seth - I can comfortably sing from the D below middle C, to the C above middle C. What does that make me? =)
Seth W.
The D below middle C? Um… I'd say you were a high tenor. :) As far as church choral music goes you'd probably be an alto 2. It's not terribly uncommon for the alto line to go up to a D, but for the most part it stays at a B or lower. I've rarely seen an alto line go lower than a G below middle C in church music, though it does happen every once in a while.
Seth W.
I have the March 23rd week off for spring break. The only other day is Good Friday.
My turn? Oh… um… let's see… how about… :) jk.
So what do you like to do when you're done with school for the day and all the computers are being used, so you can't get on memverse? :) Hobbies, activities, etc.
EDIT - Question #2 - what church do you go to/what is your church background? I go to a Presbyterian church currently, before that (when we lived in FL) we were part of a 'non-denominational' church, pretty much Baptist as far as beliefs go. Fairly typical contemporary church. I much prefer our current more traditional local body.
His Servant
Why did you italicize the "below" word? Were you not expecting it?
Seth W.
Correct. That's pretty low for a female voice.
His Servant
I know. My mom says that of all of us girls in our family, I definitely have the lowest. Of that range that I said, my best singing range in that is from middle C to that D =) some of my sisters can't even reach those notes to sing at all.
What's weird is that my 7 yo sis, can reach the same notes : |
Seth W.
Wow… now I really want to hear you sing. :)
His Servant
Okayyyyy…..
biblebee
Smiles mysteriously :P
His Servant
What's that all about?
