Cold rubbery grits? nope….. Hot, delicious grits

(Liver mush was okay, although it needs to be warm for those who like it)

Over caffeinated Sweet tea ???? Hmmmm…Does that mean that caffeine makes you run up the walls?? Okay, then make that decaffeinated Sweet Tea (but then, I didn't say anything about caffeine to begin with! :p )

My opinion? Uh… the nicest word I can think of is "disgusting." :P Squid? Sounds… yuck. Cream sauce? Not sure. Turnips? Excuse me, I have to go get a bucket… :P

@Nicolas - You made me laugh out loud when I read that. That's exactly what I think as well! :P =D

Seriously, any underwater animal is out of the question for me in regards with food :)

Oh, has anyone ever had frozen bananas? They are the next best thing to spaghetti squash :)

I actually had the opportunity to eat frozen banana one time, and it was crunched up together in a machine my dad recently bought. I passed. :) Sure, I like normal bananas, but frozen ones didn't sound too appetizing. And I'm sure you'd be happy to know that this frozen banana was mushed up in oatmeal. :P

You really, really should try them - just a plain frozen banana. We used to freeze the banana and then dip it in chocolate and then let it freeze again…but since I'm trying to be really healthy right now, I'm trying not to eat any chocolate these days. I'll have to try oatmeal again sometime…with lots (and lots!) of bananas in it :)

What's your favorite food, Nicolas? =P

@Nicolas - You made me laugh out loud when I read that. That's exactly what I think as well! :P =D

It made me laugh out loud too. :) Squid doesn't really taste that underwatery. It's more like chewing on rubber…
EDIT: I didn't eat squid that still had suction cups on it. I only had squid once and it tasted really……weird.

No…I haven't had frozen bananas before, but there are some in our freezer right now. But sense I don't like fresh bananas, I doubt I'd like them frozen. :D

@Nicolas, have you ever had squid before?

EDIT: You aren't really missing anything… It doesn't (in my opinion) taste good or bad, it tastes like rubbery nothing.

@Emily–Uh… okay, I've never had squid before, so I guess I can't judge it perfectly. :) But now that you say that eating squid is like chewing on rubber, I don't think I'll ever make my judgment sure… :P

@Bethany–Baked ziti (with layers of tomato sauce, sausage, provolone cheese, sour cream, and Parmesan cheese) is probably my favorite food. Part of the reason is because I know how to make it. :)

@Nicolas - Well, that sounds somewhat like lasagna (sp?)….is it? Ah, yeah, I like being able to make my favorite foods as well :) Today, I'm going to try a new recipe - spicy carrot french fries! It's carrot sticks with a layer of olive oil coated in cumin, chili power, pepper and a little salt! Yum :P

@Rachel - Can we please stop the conversations about squid…Please! I just about gagged when I read that last comment of yours…

Who has tried watermelon with salt on it???

93fcb35bede1ac128cb83b71e8060885?s=128&d=mm

SavedByGrace

It's not exactly lasagna, but sorta like it. The main reason why it is not is because a ziti noodle is not long and thin, but long and round, with a hole in the middle. Also, I don't think I've ever tried lasagna with sausage in it–always beef. I'd like lasagna better if it did have sausage! :)

As for Rachel's description of eating squid… I'd have to say the same thing as you… :P

Watermelon with salt? Watermelon alone already isn't very good–why ruin it further? :P :D

@Nicolas - Uh, yeah, watermelon with salt on it…is really, really BAD! Everyone tells me "it'll just make the sweetness come out even more when you put salt on it" so I tried it (mind you, I only put on a very little bit) and the whole watermelon was salty…it tasted really bad :)

So…do you like most foods? (That's my way of nicely asking of someone is picky or not :P)

D31c974fe43f1230dbcb183971bfbdec?s=128&d=mm

Emily H

Aw, you don't like watermelon? I don't like them if they are mushy, but usually they aren't too bad… But no, I've never tried it with salt either….and that sounds really gross. I think tomatoes with salt on them are good though!!!

All right :D But it was kind of fun :D Salty Watermelon?? No thank you.

@All - While we're on the topic of salt….usually soft pretzels have salt on top…have you ever had cinnamon and sugar on top instead of salt? It's really good!

D31c974fe43f1230dbcb183971bfbdec?s=128&d=mm

Emily H

Oooh, that does sound really good! (sorry I'm replying to something you asked Bethany! :D I try to not do that but that just sounded really good! :P) I don't know if I've had it before….I've only had a soft pretzel once in my life and that was a really long time ago, so I don't remember what it had on top. I'm assuming it was salt but I don't remember…

@Bethany–Well, considering I haven't tried most foods, I'd probably say no. ;) I don't tend to like to try new things unless I'm forced to. :P And thanks for the advice; I probably won't be having salted watermelon any time soon. :)

@Rachel–Giant soft pretzels are SO good! I've only had one a couple of times, but they are GREAT. And putting cinnamon and sugar on top? I'VE GOTTA TRY THAT!! ;D

One thing I like is frozen watermelon. I haven't had it for a while but from what I can remember I think it was better than regular watermelon.

Costco used to sell pretzels that way! I loved them! But I really like salty ones too. :)

I can't stand salt on my fruit! (except tomatoes) :P

Here is a recipe for a salad that I enjoy making (and eating!).

Recipe for: Frito Salad

Ingredients: 1 head lettuce; 1 jar bacon pieces; 1 cup mozzarella cheese; 1 cup cheddar cheese; 1 bag fritos- broken

Salad dressing: 1 cup real mayonnaise; 1/4 cup sugar; 1/4 cup brown sugar; 1/4 cup milk; 1/8 cup vinegar- Stir all of these ingredients well; refridgerate until ready to serve on salad.

Directions: First, you will need to cut up the head lettuce and put it in a large bowl. Next, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese, the cheddar cheese and the bacon pieces on top. Cover the bowl and stick it in the refridgerator until you are ready to serve it. After you take the salad out of the fridge, uncover the bowl and add the broken fritos and the dressing to the salad. Stir until everything is mixed together well. And finally, it is ready to serve. Almost everyone in our family really likes this salad.
Enjoy!

2 Tbsp lemon juice
29 oz. can of peaches (don't drain)
20 oz can of crushed pineapple (don't drain)
1 handful of strawberries
3 c. water

Place in blender and blend. Pour into small containers and place in freezer for a few hours (not sure how many). Enjoy!

Quick + Easy Tuna Casserole
1/2 c. milk
2 5 oz cans tuna fish
1 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup, reduced sodium
1 c. grated cheddar cheese
1 1/2 c. uncooked macaroni
1 c. frozen peas (opt)
1 c. frozen corn (opt)

Sugar-less Sugar Cookies (no sugar!)
1 stick of butter
Three Tbsp. honey
Two egg yolks
1 1/4 c. self-rising flour (I just used regular whole wheat flour)
1 Tbsp. milk

Preheat your oven to 180 deg C/350 deg F/gas mark four. Melt your honey and butter in a small pan. Leave to cool. Then beat your eggs and stir in. Sieve and add your self-raising flour until you have a dough you can easily roll out. If necessary, add a little full fat milk. Using whichever cookie cutters your children like, cut the dough into shapes. Position on a greased baking sheet and place in the center of your oven. Bake for about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave to cool. Enjoy!

Chicken Casserole

I haven't tried these recipes but I can't wait to - they look SOOOOO yummy! :)

Sugar-Free cookies
3 mashed bananas
1/3 c. apple sauce
2 c. oats
¼ c. almond milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon

Bake at 350* for 15-20 minutes

Raw Cookie Dough Bites
2 c. almond flour
½ tsp. baking soda
1/3 tsp. sea salt
1/3 c. coconut oil
1 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. almond butter
2tsp. vanilla
Chocolate/carob chips

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Combine the oil, honey, almond butter, and vanilla in a separate, smaller bowl. Pour wet mixture into the dry mixture and combine well. Your own two hands do the best job of getting it all combined. If you find the mixture is too dry and crumbly, add a tablespoon of water at a time until you reach cookie dough consistency. Taste. Mix in the desired amount of chocolate chips and roll into 1 to 1 ½ inch balls. Store in refrigerator. they should keep for several days, although they tend to dry out the longer they are stored. (if they last that long…) the more you work the dough, the more the coconut oil will melt, resulting in the balls getting greasy. Return the dough to the freezer to re-harden if this bothers you.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Peanut Butter Cookies
1 c. flour
½ c. honey (the recipe says sucralose, but we use honey as our sweetener.)
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. creamy peanut butter
3 tbsp. melted butter
1 egg OR half a ripe banana, mashed
3 tbsp. applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 375* degrees. Lightly grease a cookie sheet. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl, stirring them together with a whisk. Add the remaining ingredients, using an electric mixer to mix them well. Use a tablespoon to scoop out cookie dough, and use your hands to lightly roll into a ball. Press with fork. Bake until golden brown, about 13-15 mintues.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

(Okay, just so you know, I just had to say this!) Um, how can these cookies be sugar-free if there is vanilla and cinnamon in one recipe, honey and vanilla in the second, and honey and vanilla in the third? :)
