Entire Bible!
Started by His ServantHis Servant
This is a post for those who in the "Entire Bible" group that SavedByGrace started…and for those who have the goal of memorizing the entire Bible in their lifetime!
What are you all working on memorizing right now?
BTW, great job on pushing us up to 3rd on the group leader-board, Matthew Minica and Anna Mieczkowski - glad to have you in the group!
P.S. @Nicolas - I hope you don't mind that I started this post?!
Jacen
My first goal is to memorize John, followed by the rest of the gospels. Then the epistles, then Acts and Revelations. My plan is to complete these first goals in 5 to 6 years.
My plan of attack on the Old Testament is to learn the poetry books first, then sort of mix up the history and prophets.
biblebee
I am thinking of maybe memorizing the entire Bible…but I haven't decided yet.
SavedByGrace
I do not mind at all that you started this topic. :) And thank you so much to Matthew and Anna–I sure didn't expect to ever get so high on the Leaderboard! Glad to see so many others joining this group!
Now, as for what I'm memorizing… um… nothing at the moment, actually. The main reason for this is that all the verses I have memorized right now are in the NIV, and I am not planning on using the NIV anymore, so memorizing anything else in that version would be rather pointless. I am now planning on memorizing the Bible in ESV, which, unfortunately, I have memorized no verses from in my life. So this will pretty much be like starting over completely…
Matthew Minica
and now we're #1!!
SavedByGrace
I just came back to Memverse for the first time today, and… we're already at #1??? (That is, until Bible Bee season comes back around, I'm sure. :P) I'm amazed that it has grown so quickly! Thanks a lot, everyone, for the encouragement! :D
His Servant
Hey All! We have 17 members in the "Entire Bible" group and have over 12,000 verses memorized! How exciting :) Thanks for joining this group, and God bless as you all continue to memorize HIS WORD!
Jacen
What is your highest interval?
I was clicking on some of the options available on the top of the "YOUR VERSES" columns today, and noticed that I had several (9) verses that had 128 days interval spacing. I glanced at the references to see if I indeed had those verses memorized in my head. I'm proud to say that I do. I just hope at the end of 128 days, they are still written on my heart.
I have my max interval set for a year.
What's the norm for Memverse members?
Phil Walker
A year works good so you don't have too many verses to review each day. If you ever find a verse with a high interval that you don't know, you can click 1 and it will reset.

Has anyone actially done this? Can someone quote the entire bible?
SavedByGrace
I think I've heard that a few people have done it… And one day I want to be one of them! :D
Andrew
Yep, me too. Unfortunately I will be leaving this group as soon as the Bible Bee cooks up. I'm still with it though.
SavedByGrace
Yeah, probably the same with me. :)
Matthew Minica
Same here, I think. A couple times I've at the Group Leaderboard and said to myself "What is Bible Bee in Southern TX doing down at position #36??" But then I remembered that I'm currently in a different group. :) I hope Christiana doesn't mind too much…
Andrew
Has anyone here read Arnold Pent's "Ten P's in a Pod"?
biblebee
I just finished it. I so liked it! Have you read it? Did you like it?
2 Corinthians 5:17
That's a great book! :D
Andrew
Well, I was going to say more in that comment but my internet time was expiring. The two oldest of the boys had huge amounts of scripture memorized, just from the hours of bible reading that they did every day. At 20, Paul had all the NT memorized, I don't know if you recall his conversation with someone who tested him from different passages which he recited without fail. I don't think he could have just sat down with Genesis 1:1 and gone for 71 hours, but they had it so well from their 35,000+ hours hearing or reading the bible.
2 Corinthians 5:17
I know - that was incredible!!! Makes me feel like I'm not reading my Bible enough! :)
Andrew
sigh BB's over. Didn't qualify. Coming back to Entire Bible Group. How has everyone been doing with their goals? Or is anyone making new ones?
MAN! this thread is dead!
BTW, who thinks we can get above Independent Fundamental Baptist? :P
Jedidiah Diligence Breckinridge III
My current goal is to memorize Ephesians, plus 750 other random verses… :P
Jess
Wow. That's a lot. :) I didn't qualify, but I'm trying to memorize the 600 junior verses. Don't know if I'll be able to very quickly. :P
Andrew
That is a good idea. Do you have a list of them?
Emily H

This year, the Senior, Junior and Primary verses are all different…
Emily H
No problem!! I know, I have no idea why they did that…
2 Corinthians 5:17
"sigh BB's over. Didn't qualify."
Same here - you're not alone!

Is this challenge still going on?
Jedidiah Diligence Breckinridge III
Is this challenge still going on?
Of course. Just because we haven't talked about it in two years doesn't mean it's stopped.
This is a 30 year plan. :D
DiscipleOfJesus
Ok super. I've been working on memorizing the whole Bible for a few years, but I don't know how long it will take me (hopefully less than 30 years!). I usually memorize a few hundred verses a year. I still don't have all my memorized verses memorized on memverse. Are you doing the challenge?
Todd Ramsell
There are about 31,000 verses in the whole Bible, which means, at the rate of a few hundred verses per year, it should take between 80 and 100 years to memorize the whole bible. To reach the goal in 30 years would mean memorizing 1,000 verses per year. That said, anything is possible, and nothing compares to a Scripture-saturated life, especially if we are coming to the Scriptures not to know words only (and not to glory in our flesh) but to know Him who is the Word, to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Well, there are roughly 30,000 verses in the Bible, so 300 per year = 100 years. I hope your family is long-living. :P
I'm working on the challenge in a manner of speaking; it usually manifests itself as many different smaller memorization challenges.

Haha no, I have been memorizing quite a bit more than 300 a year.

I usually choose a book and stick with it until it's finished, unless there's other challenges going on like at church or bible study or other such things.

Ah, ok. I was just going off of you saying "a few" hundred, which usually means about 3. What would you say is your average for a year? And what are you working on memorizing right now for this goal?
I'm working on Ruth (for the Sword Study) and probably a good bit of John 1-6 (for the Bible Bee.) Also, I'm slowly working on Luke.
There are several books that I've memorized in the last couple years that I really need to review, though.
DiscipleOfJesus
I haven't been keeping exact track of how many verses I memorize each year, but I'm pretty sure it's over a thousand.
I started memorizing the Gospel of John several months ago. I had started to memorize it years ago, but never really did much with it.

I haven't been keeping exact track of how many verses I memorize each year, but I'm pretty sure it's over a thousand. Currently I am working on memorizing the Gospel of John. I had started to memorize it, but never really did much with it. Since Bible Bee studying is John 1-6, I figured it would be a good time to memorize the book.
I started the Gospel of John in November. I think that it's in the late 800s. It's really good, isn't it?! :)
DiscipleOfJesus
Yes, it definitely is. I have many of the chapters memorized, but they aren't yet classified as "memorized" here on memverse.
M27
Great! I have the first eight chapters memorized, but I don't use MV for memorizing.
DiscipleOfJesus
I use both, but because it takes so long to get a chapter classified as memorized on memverse, it'll probably show up like I memorized the whole book in one day on here lol
Priscilla K.
My sister has been memorizing eight verses a day for quite a while now and if she keeps it up for only ten years, she'll have the whole Bible memorized.
Keep up the great work guys. Don't let Satan discourage you. God will help you.
His Servant
Still working on this goal. Working my way through 2 Corinthians, and wow, that book is really great.
M27
I would love to memorize 2 Corinthians someday (maybe when I'm done with John)! What chapter are you in and what is your favorite verse from it so far?
His Servant
I'm finishing chapter 7 today. I'm still trying to finish by the end of this week/end of July… which shows I got a little behind the past couple weeks. Favorite verses… 1:8-10, 3:18, 4:16-18, 5:8-9 and 6:16-7:1 that have been extremely thought provoking to me in my memory work. I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite, though. ;)
Dance4Him
I'm almost done with James, then I'll do 1 and 2 Peter. It's going really well, and it is great to have all of the in my head and soul!
M27
You have a lot of favorites :).
Jedidiah Diligence Breckinridge III
Newest section of memory work for me is Psalm 30-60.
I'm hoping to memorize all of them during August. ~500 verses, so it's going to be a bit of a challenge.
Keirstin
awesomesauce!!! That is so great! Will pray for ya about it! Love ya, bye! ~hehe lol xP~

xD

Why? To tell her that you don't love her?
