Yeah but we shouldn't complain….. They just want the REALLY REALLY committed people to go :) So you will all probably make it :)! Its 50-50 for me though :( that written test really threw me for a loop :(!

I thought it was very hard!! Well, to rephrase that, it was difficult in that you had to really think about most of the questions. There were only like 15-20 at the most that I could answer right off the bat. The others took a little while to think about. I'm going to be surprised if I get an 800 score, even with a perfect Orals.

I got 1st place!! :D The only reason that happened though is because Sarah Johnston, who beat me last year, was really busy this summer and didn't any studying at all until the last two weeks. She did end up getting 2nd.

To second everything everyone's saying here, the written test was hard for me too (and my siblings). I didn't study as much this year, which I'm sure contributed, and was really running out of time, so I bubbled "C" for the last 25 or so when I had just about 3 minutes left and then with the remaining time erased a couple of C's and swapped them out if I knew the answer was different.

However, I won't be doing nationals this year, so if I qualify, and anyone here places 121, and the Bible Bee reassigns seating (not sure if they do), you'll get a spot :)

Sadly they don't do alternates this year :(!!! I wish they did! My brother got 119 last year and he would have gone if they had done alternates last year :(!!!!!!!!

Even though I didn't participate (too old), I did go to our local bee to support everyone :) I know the written test was the topic of the hour, with previous National qualifiers saying that it was harder than any test they had ever taken. We kind of believed them, but when we saw their scores, we really believed them! Our 1st place winner (Lucy A) got a written score of 531 (23 questions wrong), Audrey A got 34 questions wrong, and Anna (my sister) got 70 questions wrong.

Here are the names of those who placed 1st-5th in our local bee (Troy, Michigan). As far as I know, Anna is the only one from this list that is on Memverse, and she said it was fine if I posted about her placement :)
