Matthew! That test was so hard….there were only some (like 15-20 or so) that I'm sure I got right. If I make it to Nationals, I'll be surprised!
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
I got first in Juniors! :) I think the test was super hard though. I know my score but am not allowed to share it.Good job! Yeah, when the Juniors came in from their written exam (I did oral first) they were all saying "That test was soooo hard!!!" and my heart sank... :P It wasn't *quite* as hard as they made it out to be though.
haha — I'm back! :) That's funny - I am dying to know the results I can't believe we have to wait 4 days!!!!!!!! :O
Ian R.2
We weren't supposed to have a final round. Ben and I just tied. :)
I might have a small chance of making it, but I know it's in the Lord's hands.
Sir Walter (Jimmy)
For all who thought the test was hard or easy: I would advise you not to think in any way that your perception will necessarily mean a good or bad score. From experience, your score is usually the opposite of what you predict the test was. I did the test four years and eight times. Twice I though it was easy, and six times I thought it was extremely difficult. I can remember that each time I thought it was hard, I got a really high score, but whenever I said to myself and others "That test was SO easy," I found out, to my humiliation, that I did quite poorly.
That might sound strange to some, but I would encourage you to not make the mistake of beating yourself up or puffing yourself up. Some kids every single year think the test is hard, while others think it is easy (Look at previous Memverse threads. There are some on each side of the coin every single year). If you think you did poorly, trust in God and know that He allowed you to get the score you received. Perhaps your performance was a test of faith to see that, even though you think you did not do so well, you had the faith to not be angry at Him or to throw up your study as worthless (that reveals selfish intentions). If you believe you did so well and think, "How could ANYONE have thought that was hard?," I think you need to be very careful not to get proud of your God-given abilities. :)
I guess my point is that no matter what you may think about your performance, God is the one who decides who will get what score. If you trust in Him and remain humble, he will bless you. I just wanted to give you all encouragement and advice. You all studied so hard. Make sure that God gets the glory no matter what your score or perception may be. :)

Matthew – you thought you only got 30-50 wrong? I'm thinking that I got more than 100 wrong! If I make it, I'll be surprised!
Matthew Minica
I tried to console myself before the written saying "Well, if the test was harder then we'll all score lower." I have a feeling that the Nats scores are going to be much lower this year.
His Servant
Yes, I think so! Do you think you'll make it!
Matthew Minica
That's exactly what I was thinking, Jimmy! Thanks for putting my thoughts into words. :) I also have noticed that whenever people say the test was easy, they didn't actually do that well. It varies widely, but that seems to be the trend.
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Wow, Jimmy. That was beautiful. wipes tears haha, no seriously, that was great! Thanks, I needed that. :)
Matthew Minica
I hope so, and I think I've got a good chance, but like Ian said, it's in the Lord's hands.
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Is anyone still on?
His Servant
I hope so!
Matthew Minica
I am!
There are still several people I'm thinking of (and probably several more that I'm not thinking of) that haven't posted here yet. I'm impatient to know how they did. :)
Ian R.2
I am.
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Yeah - my little sis got 1st place in Primary!!!!!! :)
Ian R.2
Who are they? I know you're thinking of Sam, right?
His Servant
Like who, Matthew? Overall, how did you think the day went :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
I am soooooo glad it's over with! I didn't think I was going to get nervous but when I stepped into the oral round, I was sooooooooooooooo nervous!!!!!! I was really surprised about the Acts 10:38-43 verse! I was totally expecting them to skip over that one since it was so long! :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
@Bethany - is that a picture of you and Rosie? BTW, has anyone heard from the Alexanders? (sorry if they posted, I haven't gone through the whole thread)
Grace Mieczkowski
Thank you so much for offering that advice and encouragement, Jimmy!
Matthew Minica
Let's see, off the top of my head, there's Caleb, Nathan and Hannah, Emily & Everett, Sam, Rosie & Nicolas, … that's all I can think of right now but there's probably more.
Overall, I think the day went pretty well. I had a lot of fun! Also, we got to celebrate what we've learned, and that's the most important thing.
Ian R.2
I think the day went very well. Even though I had to wake up at 5:45, we still got there on time. I got all my verses in the oral round. (just barely :D) I came in fifth after an intense tie-breaker round. And I had an awesome lunch!
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Sorry I didn't see the posts earlier directed to me - I had to get off really suddenly because my mom needed me to do something. I think I did okay… The oral round is always my favorite!!! :) Did everyone have 1st -5th place awards? We did. :)
Ian R.2
I was really glad they put the longest one in because I know it really well!
Matthew Minica
Yeah - I came in first! :D All glory to God!
@Ian - What did you have for lunch? :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Good job Ian! So did I! :) How far away was your bee? Ours was 2 hours away so we left at 5:30 and got there at 7:00. Oops. A little too early…hmmm… :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Really? The longest one was the one I had trouble with! :O
Ian R.2
We did!
His Servant
BBJ13 – Yes, it is :) Yes, I have heard from the Alexanders….but, I don't know if she wants me to tell how she did.
Christian did post and say that he got 1st in seniors :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
We did what?
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Wow - everyone is getting first! Glad I'm not in Seniors yet!!!!! :O :) You guys are all so good! I'm getting a bit scared for Seniors… ;) lol jk
Ian R.2
Two sandwiches of ham, and then pulled pork, lasagna, vegetables (yes vegetables :D), and cookies!
His Servant
Matthew – That's good :) How do your siblings think they did? Or, have you not asked them yet?
Ian R.2
We had 1st- 5th place prizes.
Matthew Minica
That sounds good! I had one pb&j sandwich and some grapes. Not exactly what you had, but hey, it was sufficient. :P
His Servant
I had one slice of pizza, a really yummy peanut butter dessert, and some carrots. :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
oh.haha matthew! :) My dad baked some REALLY GOOD chicken for us so we took that. MMM!!! :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Oh, and cantaloupe.
Jess
We had 1st - 3rd prizes at ours. Which was good, because there were only three seniors. :)
Matthew Minica
I talked to Courtney a little bit, but I've been on the forums for most of the time after I got home, so I haven't talked much to my younger siblings. Courtney I think feels about the same as I do - feeling like she did sufficiently well, but not exceptional. She did get 1st in Juniors, BTW (did she already tell you that?).
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Really? Last year we only had 7 seniors. The funny thing is, this year, every category's top 5 winners were all girls.
Jess
Ham sandwiches, potato chips, and vegetables. Oh, and brownies for dessert!
Ian R.2
Hey guys, have you noticed that your local Bible Bees are getting smaller every year?
His Servant
Yes, she did :)
EDIT – And I hope she replies soon!
Matthew Minica
Actually, our bee was bigger this year, I think. It was definitely at least the same size as last year.
Ian R.2
I noticed it this year because we only had five primaries this year, and nine seniors. I'm pretty sure we had at least 14 Seniors last year. The only group that seems to have grown is the Juniors.
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
We had Abigail Sutton in our Bee this year! :)
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
Doesn't it always? My BFF pointed that out today…
Grace Mieczkowski
(Sorry to post something off-topic, but I figured more people would see this here than on Social Chatting right now).
If anyone has a quick second, go to this link and click "Vote" - the Strang family (you all know them :) ) entered a video in a competition, and are really close to having the highest number of votes (voting ends tomorrow). And if you have a few more seconds, watch the video - it's very sweet!
Ok, very sorry for the digression…
Our host family provided a bunch of snacks throughout the day for all of the contestant families, which was really nice of them!
Grace Mieczkowski
It can be discouraging when they get smaller - ours was a bit smaller this year than last.
That's good, though, that your bee maintained/grew its size, Matthew!
