Hey! Amy started to learn that song a long time ago! She got pretty far into it, and then she stopped….I don't know why though. Can you play it? I sure can't!
EDIT - is that better?
Matthew Minica
Yes, I can play it… barely. I haven't perfected it yet. I also think Polinchelle by Rachmaninoff is definitely harder than Fantaisie Impromptu.
Yes, thank you.
His Servant
Neat! A song I really want to learn (which is probably super hard, but I don't know how hard compared to a song like Fantaisie) is Beethoven's 5th, the piano version. It is such a neat song, but I've started learning it, and it's so hard!!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Does anyone have a suggestion for a piece I can learn? :) I'm trying to find a new piece, but am not having much success!
Once again, I'm asking for ideas =D I think I'm around early advanced :)
EDIT: Also, does anyone know where I can find free sheet music for "Kinderszenen - scenes from childhood" by Schumann? Thanks!
2 Corinthians 5:17
This is one of my favorite classical pieces: A Little Night Music.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I really like that song!!!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Isn't it great?! :D
biblebee
Yup! :)
Margaret Eddy
Does anyone know where I could find the sheet music for this? It is Hummel's arrangement of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro: Overture". I have looked for it everywhere!
Margaret Eddy
You want a lower advanced piece to learn? This I would call more of an intermediate piece, butI really like "Melodie from Orfeo Ed Euridice". Here is a recording of it played by one of my favorite piano players (you can fast forward through the first forty seconds or so, all they are doing is clapping).
2 Corinthians 5:17
Thanks, I'll have to check it out! :) Any other suggestions, people?
@Matthew: how is learning "the flight of the bible bee" going? Oops, I mean "bumble bee" =D JK

"the flight of the bible bee" going? Oops, I mean "bumble bee" =D JK
LOL :)!!!!!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Lol :) I think that piece might sound a bit like how I'm feeling inside the day before Locals… JK :D
Matthew Minica
LOL! It's going pretty well, I actually haven't practiced it in a few days, but I'm going to get back to it.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Good! Is it hard to do the chromatic scales?
Matthew Minica
Yes. :) It doesn't have the fingering I'm used to with chromatics, but if it did I think it would be even harder.
2 Corinthians 5:17
I recently began learning an arrangement for "And the Glory of Lord" from Handel's Messiah. Still in the beginning stages, but it's pretty :)
His Servant
So, I finished my arrangement for "O Worship the King" and I just finished doing an arrangement for "Moment by Moment". Which, by the way, is my new favorite hymn :)
Matthew Minica
That's great! If I get to hear you play at Nationals, that's one I'll want to hear. :)
His Servant
Which one? "Moment by Moment"? I hadn't heard the song till about a week ago, when our parents sang it for us children :)
Matthew Minica
I was talking about O Worship The King, but I've never heard Moment by Moment so I might like to hear that one as well.
His Servant
Oh, okay :) I like my arrangement for that one better (O Worship the King). My family will testify to that – I play it over and over every day :) The other one has a really nice tune and good words to it!
biblebee
Yup…you play it ALL. THE. TIME!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Where did you get your arrangement for "O Worship the King"? I like that hymn!

This is one of my favorite classical pieces: A Little Night Music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVTXlRxVdEY^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I really like that song!!!
Ditto!
Emily H
I think she arranged it herself!!! :D
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Dad just got me a violin today!!!!!!! It is an old German violin from around 1900. It's not actually marked made in Germany, so either it is from before 1895, or, it could be an instrument intended for use in Europe.
SavedByGrace
Wow! That's awesome!! :D
Emily H
^^^^what he said!!! =D That's SOOO cool!!!
(edit, I'm going to go work on verses now :P)
God's Maiden of Virtue
@Emily: (That's just what I'm about to go do. :P)
Mommy's Helper
Wow that's soooo AWESOME! I wish I had that!
2 Corinthians 5:17
So neat! :)
Emily H
What a coincidence! :D
Matthew Minica
We haven't had a good conversation about classical music in a while! I need some suggestions on what to learn next on the piano. Any ideas, anyone??
2 Corinthians 5:17
Hmmm…perhaps I could think of some. Where would you place yourself at…advanced?
Matthew Minica
Anywhere in advanced music is good for me. (Piano, anyways - I almost forgot I also play violin now. :P) The ones classified as middle and late advanced give me a real challenge, but early advanced pieces are just as fun.
@All: What have y'all been playing lately? I'm mostly trying to polish up the Revolutionary Etude so I can play it for my grandpa who's coming next month - he's a professional pianist. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
I've been learning/playing an arrangement of "The Glory of the Lord" from Handels Messiah :)
biblebee
I've not been playing anything lately (except for songs I already knew)…anyone have any suggestions????
Random Narnian Warrior (Tarva/Abi)
Wow…that's exciting! Is there a signature on the inside that might give hints as to who the maker was? Sometimes that's interesting to research.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
No, there is not. All we know is that it was factory made in Germany, and then there's a blank in its history until 15 years ago, when it was bought at an auction in NY.
Link to a slideshow with our choir as the background music. I took all the pictures. It's the last video listed on the page.

EDIT: And here is one that I and my sister and some friends of mine did (2nd video on the page):

@Carissa - if you're looking for sheet music, check out this website: http://www.thousandtongues.org/songs/updatedhymns. I just found it this week. They have over 6 pages of updated and modern hymns that they have written new music for, and on about 1/4 of the songs they have free sheet music! For example, if you click on "By Grace Alone," it will take you to this page: http://www.thousandtongues.org/songs/updatedhymns/by_grace_alone. On the right sidebar, under the "Our Songwriters" section, there is a "Song Resources" section, and you can download a free PDF of the music. I've probably downloaded at least 40 songs this week. :)
biblebee
@Bethany: Oh wow! Thanks so much!!! I'll definitely have to check it out! :)
Nathan Wright: Impersonator Hunter
@Carissa~ Can you play really advanced music, and do you like duets?
biblebee
It depends. I can play some advanced music but I don't know if I can play really advanced. I always like to try though :) And yes, I do like duets.
Nathan Wright: Impersonator Hunter
Here's duet sheet music for that piano piece that you heard the other day:
biblebee
Okay…let me go check it out.
EDIT: So the top line is one part and the two bottom lines are the other part?
Nathan Wright: Impersonator Hunter
Correct.
biblebee
Okay.
I looked at it and if I were to practice it long enough I could probably learn. I'm at least going to try…Because I like the song :)
Random Narnian Warrior (Tarva/Abi)
…your picture is of the T-Rex at the Creation Museum…isn't it? Random question.

Random question: Dose anyone like Operettas? (besides me)
