Any big cooking mess ups? Post here! I know there's a topic for In the Kitchen but this one's a little different… :)
Mommy's Helper
Once my mom spilled chocolate chips all over the floor and let the kids come in and have a feast. :)
biblebee
I've only ever messed up once…
Hiruko Kagetane
Nope. And I'm a guy. :P
Mommy's Helper
Once Dad didn't know (you wouldn't expect dads to know this) that he shouldn't leave pasta uncovered on the stove… :P
But it was still really yummy!
Once I was using the apple slicer and it's really hard to use, so I was bending over it and pushing down on it as hard as I could… using almost all my weight… and finally it went through and the apple slices popped out and got my shirt all apple juicy… :P

1 Tb. of Baking Soda looks so much like to 1 c. Baking Soda… but it tastes a lot different! :P
You can be sure I won't make that mistake again!
Mommy's Helper
Lol… I think once or twice I've messed up a measurement too. :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
Surprisingly, I haven't had very many bad experiences in the kitchen. So few, that I can't remember any! Except for burning toast under the broiler.
Is that good or bad? :D

Once I did in a batch of cookies! Cream of tartar is expensive, so I just had to triple everything else. We were eating snickerdoodles for a week. I don't think my family minded, though. :P
@Sarah: One CUP??? You can't be serious….
Sarah B.
I'm sorry to say that I am serious. :P
Courtney M.
:P Oh, well, at least you won't make that mistake again. XP
2 Corinthians 5:17
COURTNEY!!!!! You're just the person I need to talk to :D
Courtney M.
Who are you? I have to leave right now. EDIT: oh. :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
I'm Rachel :) I was wondering if I could kind of do a guest post with you on my blog (http://jewelsofjesus.blogspot.com/) and use the article you wrote that was published in KBR. Just let me know! :)

I was making brownies for my brothers soccer team and I left out the nuts thinking that it wouldn't be a huge problem. Wrong. They were like little sponges!
2 Corinthians 5:17
We never put nuts in our brownies XD
biblebee
We _never_ put nuts in our brownies XD

The worst thing I've ever done was probably accidentally turn the electric mixer on 10 right after putting flour in. Needless to say, four went everywhere.
I haven't had too many big messes though, so I'm thankful! :P
When I first saw this topic I thought it said "Cooking Calormenes". xP xP
Child of God
:D These brownies were made with chia, not flour. :) (Chia is a health food gluten free replacement of sorts. :D
Child of God
See my response to Rachel. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Ahhhh…no wonder :)

Oh, yes! Please do! Would you like me to send it to you on email? Wait…I don't know if I have your email. :S
Courtney M.
We _never_ put nuts in our brownies XD
Oh wow. You guys are really missing out! Nuts are like the best thing you could ever possibly put in anything! :P
biblebee

I disagree
Courtney M.
Oh, well, OK, I admit I over-exaggerated a little bit there, but still. I love nuts! ;)
biblebee
I don't…and especially not in my desserts :-)
Sarah B.
I know of lots of desserts that have nuts in them… what about Pecan Pie?
biblebee
No!!! I do not like pecan pie.
Sarah B.
YOU DON'T??? gasp
biblebee
No. ^I'm a very picky eater…^
Hiruko Kagetane
Nuts ruin it for me.
biblebee
Nuts ruin it for me.
InSoloChristo
Just have pecan pie without the pecans… or would that be another cooking calamity?
Courtney M.
Weeell, all I can say is, you're missing out! ;)
biblebee
Haha! I don't really like pie though…
God's Maiden of Virtue
Facedesk I learned a very valuable and important lesson from one of Bob Shultz's book about foods you don't like - develop a heart of gratitude, and learn to like it!
Courtney M.
Umm, yeah, I think it would! That would be as bad as how people do Christmas nowadays without Christ! :P Jk
biblebee
And I disagree again… :-)
Rosie: That's what I'm working on..it can be hard though. And I am grateful for all the food I have and will eat it without complaining…but I haven't learned to like it yet…
Courtney M.
Oh, poor girl…
InSoloChristo
Oh. Well have pecan pie without the pecans and without the pie.
How dreadfully picky you are! I can even manage a tomato when I really want to!
Courtney M.
:-) Of course you do - you don't like them! :P
Courtney M.
You…don't…like…tomatoes?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Very true. Though I know little of the concept, for I will eat and enjoy pretty much everything (edible, mind you).
biblebee
I know, I know. I can manage stuff but I don't like it. But if I can pass on something I dislike I will.
InSoloChristo
I don't prefer them. I eat them when they're set in front of me, however!
biblebee
It's easy to not like tomatoes…
biblebee
I don't like them. I eat them when they're set in front of me, however!
That's what I do if I have to eat food I don't like.
InSoloChristo
Though it is entirely off-topic, I'd like to congratulate you for splitting that infinitive!

Depending on your taste buds.
