2 Corinthians 5:17
Friends. :) I've tried to teach my sisters, but they like finger-knitting better. :)
Finger-knitting?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yeah, it's knitting with your fingers. LOL I know, I'm a big help - Ms. Obvious ;-)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Haha…I gathered it was something like that, but I'm wondering how it's done :)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I don't know how to describe it, but it's very easy… :)

I'm on for very short spurts, so I just check on the topics that interest me, and then run off again XD

Awww…okay :-(
Courtney M.
It's very easy - one-finger-knitting is just a chain with your fingers, and then you can do five-finger-knitting by just wrapping the yarn around a certain way and pulling the lower loop over your fingers each time, then repeat. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Huh. Sounds fun! =)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Is knitting very hard to learn, or is it just me???? I'm having the most difficult time of it!
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
It's just you :)
Have you crocheted before? Everybody I know who crocheted before knitting had a difficult time with it. Except me. Just goes to show how contrary I am.
Courtney M.
I have a hard time too…I think I'm going to have to stick to crocheting for the most part. :P I got the first row done, but then after that…
2 Corinthians 5:17
Dani: yes, I know the basics of crocheting. I like the look of knitted sashay scarf better, and an having an awful time trying to teach myself - the yarn is constantly falling off facepalm
Courtney: exactly….now I'm trying a new way of crocheting it…it's suppose to look more like the knitted one.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Wait… are you starting with the Sashay yarn? Don't! It's confusing even for me, and I've been knitting for almost five years!
Courtney M.
Oh, I think I know that stitch! It's really neat. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
I like crocheting with sashay yarn, but I wanted a knitting one! So I should get regular yarn and start with that?
Sarah B.
Red-heart yarn is a good one to use!
Courtney M.
Yes, it is! I love Red Heart, especially the patterns on the back. :)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Get regular yarn. I started on Red Heart Pomp-a-Doodle yarn- it's easier to cast on- but it's online only, now.
The Sashay is very slippery, and the stitches are really big, so if you are going to start on that, I would say use size 11 needles.
2 Corinthians 5:17
I have some regular yarn. I will try it =)
I'm borrowing some needles from a friend since I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy my own. They are #6.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Oh, dear! Those are way to small for anyone to knit the Sashay yarn with!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Really? Goes to show how much I know about knitting :P
I'm crocheting it with out biggest crocheting hook - 6.50MM.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I think that's a little bigger than my biggest crochet hook- how do you crochet the Sashay? I've never tried it!
2 Corinthians 5:17
It's pretty simple…if you can Google how to do it. I'm looking off of this video, the second method.
Jenna
I can crochet and knit, but I don't know very much about knitting. I can only do the basic stitch.

same 4 me too, but haven't done any in years, I didn't know there were more than a few knitting stiches till my sister had a book the other day '400 Knitting Stitches'.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
There really are only two stitches- knit and purl, with some variations on those. Most of the 'stitches' are just combinations of knit, purl, and dropped stitches.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Sew, when we go home, I would like to buy the pattern and make this dress:
http://sensibility.com/blog/patterns/ladies-1780s-portrait-dress-pattern/
It would be white, I would handsew it, and I would embroider the bodice in either white or light blue thread.
What do you think?
Emmy
LOVE it!!
Emmy
And blue thread sounds gorgeous :D
Courtney M.
Sounds lovely!!! :D
So…I bought my e-patterns for the Romantic style dress and blouse…(you were right Dani, the e-patterns only cost $10 each)…I borrowed a serger from a friend…now I just need to go to the fabric store and pick out my materials!! I hope I don't completely mess the dress up… :} The site said that to go along with it, I would need a chemise, longline stays, and a petticoat or two. Do ya'll think that's necessary?
EDIT: I also just got a free pattern for crocheted lacy fingerless gloves!
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
They are necessary, because the way the pattern is made; it requires them for the structure of the dress.
Courtney M.
I see. But all the chemise looked like was a slip!
Abigail Rose
How do you make a slip stitch in crocheting?? :) Im making another hat and the pattern says slip stitch but I forgot how!
Courtney M.
Put your hook through the stitch, yarn over, and pull the yarn through both the stitch and the loop already on your hook. You should have only one loop on your hook after one pull-through. Wait…did that make any sense?
Abigail Rose
Yep! Thanks! :)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I believe the bodice of the chemise is stiff.
Courtney M.
I thought that was the stays…
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I'm not sure… But stays are pretty much a corset.
Courtney M.
Okay. I might buy them…it just depends on how expensive they are.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I think you need them for the Sense and Sensibility patterns.
Courtney M.
We'll see…I just don't want to spend too much for anything that would be unnecessary. :P
Emmy
What have you all been working on lately? I'm crocheting a cushion using this pattern:
http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/blooming-flower-cushion.html
It's so much fun! =D
Courtney M.
Neat! I'm crocheting a shawl using 100% wool, burgundy yarn. It is so soft…and I'm using a bigger hook so it's kind of lacy. :)
Abigail Rose
I'm crocheting random hats just to rip them out when I'm done! I like crocheting in circles!! :D
Andrew
I got a picture of me in one of those circular hats today.
Emmy
Oooh, sounds lovely! What color(s) are you using? Is it for you or someone else?
Emmy
Haha! Circles are fun :D
Abigail Rose
Yep! And I'm really bad at making squares or rectangles that don't turn into triangles!!
