Depends on the canon. With Disney owning SW now, they're throwing out all of the Expanded Universe (the novels, comics, graphic novels, games, etc) and starting over. Which is annoying to me, but, it's Mickey's company. What do you expect?

Fortunately, I never got very deep into the Expanded Universe, so it will be easier for me to deal with the new movie(s). But it will not be altogether easy.

It seems to me that those weren't really ever in the official SW canon to begin with… there was so much opportunity for contradiction with so many authors writing their own fiction to supplement the movies…
