XP Yeah, that's always annoying. Have you ever tried making a granny square?

Emmy
Pretty. Wow, you've made a lot! I've made maybe 8-10. They are so easy and quick, aren't they? People always are so impressed by them ;D
Courtney M.
Oooh, sounds lovely! What color(s) are you using? Is it for you or someone else?
Burgundy, and then a little bit of metallic gray around the edges. Probably for me. Though, I wasn't sure if I had enough yarn, so I made it smaller. It turned out more of a child size. :P (I finished it while sitting in a conference the past couple of days. :)
Emmy
Oh okay. Well, if you have a younger sis… :)
What pattern did you use?
Courtney M.
I have four. ;D I think I figured out a way to make it bigger, though. :)
Well, I have this book called Crocheting Patterns for Dummies. There's a nice pattern in there, and I kind of based it off that, though I made up the edging. :) Do you know any good sites or books for patterns?
Emmy
Haha, great! I've only got one ;)
I think I've seen that book, but I don't really have any crochet pattern books. But who needs those anyways when you've got the Internet?! ;)
Well, I LOVE Lucy at Attic24's patterns/tutorials, and she has links to a bunch of other blogs that have great patterns and tutorials. You could also try Ravelry. Also, www.repeatcrafterme.com has lots of adorable patterns, especially hats :)
To find attic24, all you have to do is google it. Lucy is super famous in the crochet community!
Courtney M.
Yes! They're big little blessings. :D
I also have a pretty old crochet pattern booklet that is falling apart. It mostly has doilies, placemats, and decorative stuff like that. But that is something I really enjoy, and I love old patterns. :) The Internet is helpful, I'll grant you, but I prefer books. Simply for the reason that I have a limited number of sites I can access. :P
I'm going to ask Daddy about approving some of those sites for me to access. They sound nice!
Emmy
Okey-doke ;)

I Love crocheting hats! Im going to make one for when my friend allysah has her baby! (Who BTW is going to be named after my brother!! :))
Anyone have any good suggestions for colors?? :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Dullish blue, lime green…maybe some brown mixed in there…
Mommy's Helper
Tep! :) I've made 31 last time I counted!
God's Maiden of Virtue
How much time do you usually have in a day to do it?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I've made six scarves of that kind, but I've made infinite numbers of the ones I sell.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Would a black princess-cut dress with 'Northern light' colored hanging sleeves coming off of the short-sleeved black sleeves look funky?
Emmy
Ummmmmm, I'm not sure. XP
Mommy's Helper
It depends. I can usually get 3 ft of scarf done in a half hour. That means 3 large scarves in 3 hours, and 6 small scarves in 3 hours.
Mommy's Helper
Okay.
Emmy
I've made six scarves of that kind, but I've made infinite numbers of the ones I sell.
What kind do you sell, and where do you sell them?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
'Pomp-a-doodle' yarn scarves (online order only) and I sell them just at bazaars right now.
Emmy
Neat ;)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Sigh Wish I had that much time to crochet… :)
Emmy
Me too… I would crochet all day if I could! ;)
Last December I had some of my crochet work on display at a local cultural center, and I had to work like crazy to get enough things made for the exhibit XP It payed off though (literally)!
I'm thinking of someday starting a shop on Etsy, but I know it's a lot of work (and also not free), so I don't know if I'll have the time to maintain it.
God's Maiden of Virtue
Haha, I love to crochet, but I think I'd get exhausted trying to do it all. day. And a sore back from bending over my work ;-)
Yeah…I've considered opening an Etsy account, but, same as you said, it costs money, and can be hard to get good business - and keep up with it well. Lots of time, work, and dedication.
Abigail Rose
I've consider it to, to sell home made candles,
God's Maiden of Virtue
Wow, that'd be cool! You make candles? I've always thought that would be fun to do.
Emmy
Haha, I love to crochet, but I think I'd get *exhausted* trying to do it all. day. And a sore back from bending over my work ;-) Yeah...I've considered opening an Etsy account, but, same as you said, it costs money, and can be hard to get good business - and keep up with it well. Lots of time, work, and dedication.
Mmmmhmmm.
Emmy
Cool! I've never really made candles, but we have some friends who used to do it with their goats' milk ;)
Abigail Rose
I love making candles! Candles and crocheting is the only crafts we really do anymore…me used to make stuff from duck tape, like flowers and wallets and stuff.
Emmy
Yep, duct tape is some amazing stuff……but VERY expensive XP
Abigail Rose
Yea! So are candles stuff!
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Goat milk candles? Do you know how they did it?
Emmy
I'm sorry, they actually made goat's milk soap, not candles. For some reason I was thinking about candles XP However, apparently you can make goat's milk candles, too.
But no, I don't have any idea how to do any of that stuff, unfortunately :/
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Hmm… because I've made candles before, and I would really really really like to get a couple goats. I also have a couple people I want to make soap with when we go home, and one of them has goats.
Emmy
Okay ;) Well, there's always the Internet! I'm sure you can find lots of tutorials on there if you do a search =)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I just got a box of yarn in the mail today!
Emmy
Oooh, fun!! What kind? What are you going to be using it for? =D
Mommy's Helper
comes in sobbing I tore a hole in my favorite pair of pants!! Really, my only pair of long pants, because the others are getting a bit too short and they're really thick because they're knit. Too hot for summer.
Emmy
gives you a cup of water and a box of tissues Calm down, honey. It's gonna be alright. ;)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Pomp-a-doodle yarn to make scarves to sell. They discontinued it, so I had to get a big order of it.
Mommy's Helper
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mom fixed my pants… and guess what? On the very same day I was crawling around really fast for a game, and… I tore another hole in them.
Emmy
Fun (yeah, I know I'm suuuuper late, but… XD)! Aww, that's too bad :( Are you going to start using a different yarn for scarves then?
Emmy
Auggghhh, that's annoying!! Bad, bad, girl, Hannah! Lol! JK!
Mommy's Helper
:)
Andrew
Auggghhh, that's annoying!! Bad, bad, girl, Hannah! Lol! JK!
But it is okay, because Hannah fixed them this time. Uhh right, Hannah? JK
Emmy
Well of course! Riiiiiight??? xD
Mommy's Helper
Nope! I'm wearing them right now and they still have that hole!
Emmy
Oh, well, whatever. You'll live even if they have a hole xP
Jessica Rankin
Hi, have ya'll ever heard of knittingdaily? You can subscribe to it and get e-mails from them daily, and they provide information on a variety of subjects, and occasionally some free patterns (and sometimes they're really pretty ones, too!)
What about KnitPicks? They have really nice yarn, in nice colors, and sometimes they have nice patterns that you can download. They also having spinning, weaving, and knitting supplies.
There's also another place: yarnbarn-ks.
I love collecting yarn. I don't have as much as I would like to have, but I have more than I can store.
So much yarn, so little time. :-)
Knitpicks also has a lot of crochet patterns and books, and so does Lion-brand yarns.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Thanks! I will definitely look at those places!
I like Lion Brand, but they don't do enough wool yarn for me- I prefer Patons.
