Me too. Although, it's interesting: the changes made were supposed to bring in more people, but it's still less than last year!
And, there's always some people who sign up but don't compete.

I think it counts all family members, doesn't it? Because…well…it doesn't really make sense that there are thousands more families than contestants…

EDIT: sorry, not thousands! I had that seven thousands number stuck in my head for some reason. xP So is it families or family members? When you register, do they ask you how many are in your family?

I think that means supporting sibs and young explorers. Not totally sure though.

EDIT: my reasoning would be that last year when they had the total number of families it just said "families". "Family Members" seems more to indicate people who have signed up for those groups (Supporting Siblings and Young Explorers). But that's just a guess. :P

How would they know how many family members we have? When we tried to sign up Summer, it didn't let us… Maybe, however, it's counting based off of how many extra Sword Studies were ordered.
