I don't feel prepared enough to go very far in the competition, as this has been such a busy summer, but I've learned so much from studying Jonah, I couldn't care less! I feel like that imperishable prize has become so much more valuable to me this past year. Just go in and do your best, all for the glory of God alone - and leave the results in His hands! =)

Wow. That was so encouraging (and convicting) to read that. Thank you, Rosie! Your humble spirit is a lesson to us all. :)

I agree! I want to make the most of these last couple of weeks too - I still want to give my very best. =)
Very true, Rachel…that is exactly how we should look at it! :) Because if we are doing this for the competition, than we shouldn't participate at all - that takes away the whole reason the Bible Bee was started.
Thank you for your encouraging spirit! I've seen you, year after year, give your best, and leave the results up to God. And although it hasn't been His will for you to qualify yet, you have always set an example of doing it for the eternal prize over the temporal.

2 weeks x)
This is where I start really regretting all the time I spent doing non Bible Bee stuff :P

I know, right?

(It was with our grandparents, by the way.) They didn't give us a "score", but I think they said I did perfect. And Hannah, of course. :) Not sure about Nathan.

Yeah, off and on. I already knew Chapter 2, and I've memorized Chapter 1. I'm still working on three, but I'm spending more time on other things, like looking up the context for the memory passages, reviewing CR's, taking the practice test, etc.
Oh, have you taken the practice test?

Hey, you're already father ahead of me. I've only just started on chapter 3, and I've been working on my dramatization of chapter 1… ^Don't ask; you'll see at Locals anyway. :P^
How exactly are you studying/reviewing the CR's? I have been studying them, but am at a loss as to whether or not my method is really helping.
Hangs head No, I haven't taken the practice test yet; I'm sort of reluctant to…was it hard?

Dramatization? I guess I won't ask… but that sounds really cool.
Well, I usually just look at them in my copy of all the Q's and A's. (They're easy to find there; I wrote each CR in red.) And review what it says. I'm not sure how much good it will do, but I survived last year. :P
Please don't hang yourself. I wouldn't call the test hard. There were a couple questions that I think are ambiguous, or have multiple correct answers, but there are usually some of those on the real test, anyway.

Well, I remember studying the CR's really hard last year, and doing terribly at them. Maybe this year will different, I do not know.
Facepalm Oh my…well, I'm glad to hear that. I've been dreading to take it after how I did on the 50 question one, the first time.

I'm doing it because Everett C. said that he was reading in the rulebook, and it said that the test might ask questions from word studies on the memory passages.

Oh, I guess that's what those other words in the practice test were… I skimmed the rulebook a while ago, I should probably go over it again sometime. :P

I missed about a third of the questions, which was mainly due to the fact that I hadn't really started reviewing CR's yet, and I only took half an hour, not spending nearly enough time on each question. There were a few where, when I was checking afterwards, I thought something like, "Duh, now if I had actually read the whole question…" sigh

God's Maiden of Virtue

Ah, yeah, I've had that happen before too. FE, I had forgotten to study the context of the verses, so most of the answers I got wrong on the 50 question test were verse contexts.
Hopefully you can slow down a bit on the real test…

I think after this year I'll make a Bible Bee Preparedness (…) checklist, or something like that, so I won't forget those things. (I probably will anyway, though.)
One of the things I would have liked to do this year is go over the Senior Sword Study, just for the extra information, which would probably be helpful, even on the Junior test. But next year I won't have to worry about that… It's almost scary.

God's Maiden of Virtue

Haha, I made something like that after the mock Bee…it was only after that that I really got into my studying mode. :P
I know! Last year, there was some Greek word from the Senior SS on the test and I had to make an educated guess. I was not happy. Yeah, no kidding…

(Hey, what? I think more Greek words are cool! :P ) I think the only word they left out in our Sword Studies this year is zâʽaq, meaning to cry out. Might be good to know.

I usually check the Parent Guidebook for stuff like that. It shows what they think are the key verses, and also chapter titles. But of course, I check after I complete my own Sword Study. nods

I'm a 3rd time Senior…so that should tell you my age :P I think you're a last time Junior, correct?
For the Junior one, I did the whole test in 40 minutes. Pretty fast, I guess. Anyway, I got 183/200. What about you?

This is my last year as a Junior, yes. The test took me thirty minutes, and while I didn't keep exact count, I think I missed about a third of the questions. For the reasons already given. :)
I need to leave now, sorry…
