Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting...

Do any of you read the awseome blog Attic24? This year, Lucy is asking her readers to crochet mandala wheels for a stunning display at Yarndale, a festival of all things wooly, that she helps organize in her hometown of Skipton, England.
Last year I sent in six triangles to be included in a magnificent display of bunting (there were nearly 600 triangles!). This year I am looking forward to sending her my one mandala for the wall display she is planning. I would love for some of you girls to join me! You can read her instructions here: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2014/05/mandalas-for-yarndale.html
And look at the beautiful mandalas that she has received so far here: http://www.pinterest.com/yarndale/mandala-wheels/
Hope some of you might give mandalas a try. They're so much fun, and VERY addictive! I've made three so far to use as decorations for one of our bathrooms. I'm going to try to design my own pattern for the one I send to Lucy for Yarndale =)

Oh, that looks like so much fun! I wish I coul do it, but not this year… I have more important projects to work on. :)
Emmy
Okay :)

So, today, I walked into Michaels to get some yarn for a project of mine, and walked out with thirty skeins of pompom yarn…
It was a yarn that I use in my scarves, and they were clearance-ing it, so I got a bunch.
Jessica Rankin
Been there, done that. :-)
We're fond of sales.
Emmy
Haha, fun :) It's always kinda funny when you're piling a ton of yarn onto a tiny Michael's cashier counter xD

Some other places where you can get yarn, patterns, and stuff.
Patternworks and Interweave
I'm not sure what all Paradise Fibers has. :-)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Oh, thanks!
Jessica Rankin
Mom just told me that right now Knittingdaily is offering seven free infinity scarf patterns that you can download for free. :-)

Grandma gave us two really nice sewing machines!!!!!!
Now, I need to launch my business well, so that I have money for materials…
Emmy
Cool! I hope it goes well :D
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Yeah, I hope I don't break these ones. XD
Emmy
Hehe =P Yeah, I don't even really know how to use a sewing machine, so that's why I just stick to crochet! xD
Courtney M.
Oh, you should learn! It's really not that hard! ^That is, when they work properly. :P^
I got my two patterns - one Romantic Era blouse, and one Romantic Era dress. Right now I am making a practice blouse from an old sheet. xD
Emmy
Haha, yeah, I'd like to sometime :)
Cool! I'm sure that will be fun! =)

Does anyone know about remaking a shirt? My Bible Bee one is too big- the sleeves are down to my elbows, and the sides are at least eight inches to wide on either side.
Courtney M.
I don't. :P Couldn't you just order another one? That would be easier.
Actually, I might guess - if you deepen the seams on the sides, that should help, and if you hem the sleeves longer, that would help too. Does that make any sense in terms of sewing?
Emmy
My mandala made it to England!! :D
And my sister's is here:
=D =D
Courtney M.
I might need to try that too…mine is really big on me.
Courtney M.
No, I'd like it. :)
On Wednesday I got 10 yards of white broadcloth for petticoats, and also the materials (fabric, lace, buttons) for my Romantic Era blouse!
Emmy
Do any of you mind if I put up knitting or crocheting patterns I came up with?
Of course not. That's what this topic is for! =)
Courtney M.
When I go on my fancy date with my dad. ;) I'll probably wear it to church sometimes, although I probably won't want to put on all that fabric very often. xP
Emmy
Oooooh, fun! Yarn sales are awesome!!!! :D
Emmy
Isn't this just the cutest little frivolous crochet ever?!?! ^Okay, maybe not quite the cutest…^
I'm so gonna make some of those!! =D And I love that blog in general, too ;)
Emmy
Haha, yeah! Me too! :D They can be used to decorate cards/envelopes, made into brooches, or, probably my favorite, be turned into fridge magnets by glueing a magnet to the back. I can't wait to get started making them!! =D
Emmy
:D What colors are you using? =)
Emmy
:D What colors are you using? =)I'm starting with Kelly Green. :)
Pretty! =)
Emmy
Are you making one? :)
Well, I'm going to, but I haven't had the chance to get started yet :P I really want to start it soon though— hopefully this afternoon, but it might have to wait till later this week… I'm excited about making them, though!!
Also, I'm super duper looking forward to making a Bower Bird using the incredible tutorial from Attic24:
http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2014/07/the-bower-bird-has-landed.html
My sis and I are going to each make one (to start ;D), but we have to order the safety eyes and flexi hoop before we can start. Meanwhile, I'll be hooking up some cute little stamps and working on my ripple blanket :)
Emmy
Yeah, I know what you mean :P I have plenty of yarn and stuffing, but we don't have the hoops, so my dad just ordered some for us on Amazon. They actually didn't have any 7" ones, so we had to get ones that are 10". We are just going to make bigger birds and more decorations ;) We don't have safety eyes either, so we're going to try to find them at a craft store (I'm hoping Michael's has them; they should…). =)
Emmy
I made a stamp, but it didn't turn so much like a stamp as just a cute little peace of crochet :) I didn't have the right yarn, so I used a thicker yarn with a smaller hook, and then I just used embroidery floss for a flower. It turned out okay, but since I'm not much of an embroiderer, it isn't all that great. It's still pretty sweet though, I think ;) I don't think I'll make any more until I get some 2 ply yarn though— it was kind of hard using the thicker yarn. Plus, my edging is kind of eh…
Emmy
Yeah, it's a tricky part =/

All the easier to stamp onto hugs. Just sayin'.

Nope! Haven't learned how to knit, and don't have the time to learn how to do the crocheted one. xP

I knitted a set of baby clothes for my little sib! :D

I was wondering, do those have a religious significance? The name seems suggestive of such a thing…

Just so you know, mandalas are a Buddhist thing.

Those Bible Bee shirts never fit right anyways :P lol

Last year we asked for a medium youth and instead we got a medium adult size! The shirt still ( and will probably forever) fits me!

I'm making Lucy's train hat from Narnia for Christa's birthday. If anyone was wondering, I found out that it is crocheted in a puff stitch.
Abigail Rose
does anyone know how to crochet a hat like Links?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Mom: Dani, did you leave a knitting needle at the birth clinic?
Me: Well, I thought I was missing a crochet hook…
Apparently I drip needles and hooks. facewrist

I finished Mum's sweater and my kuspuk within days of each other! Yay! Now I'm ready for Nats!
^Well, actually….^
Emmy
Right now I am working on autumn decorations (still!), and also a coastal-inspired granny square blanket for my brother :)
What are you all crocheting/knitting?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
So one of Daddy's friends had two looms sitting in his trailer and gave them to Daddy, who then gave them to us for Christmas. Great, right? All was wonderful until I went online and found out that it was a knitting machine…
Emmy
Haha! Well, I'm sure it would be interesting to learn how to use a knitting machine :)
