I don't believe that really. It think it's just something clever someone figured out by just folding a dollar…

I tried doing the butterfly, but I think I must have messed up because I hit a road block. :/ I will try it again today if I have time. :)

I have never actually made that particular model before, but that step is just saying to open it up until it looks like the next picture. that is, unfold the bottom part, while leaving the top part in place.

by the way, step 10 is going to be a squash fold.

Okay… so now I'm at 10-11. Um… very confused. Squash fold?

Here is a couple of tips. White arrows mean Push. essentially. second. … well I only have one. but a squash fold. Fold just the top layer in half. the top should poof out. then you have to squash (hence the name squash fold) the top part down to make a triangle. (look at next step)

PS. be forewarned, step 14 will be a bit tricky

Okay, I watched a youtube video on the squash fold so i know how… but I can't figure out how it aplys to the piece of paper I'm holding.

you should have to fold the top layer from the right to the left. just focousing on the edge. the bottom. will poof out. just let it do this. then squash down the bottom. You can always watch a you tube video on Michael Lafose butterfly. there are several different variations, but the squash fold will be similar on all of them.
