Hello Rosie! How are you doing? Just wondering what you have been reading in the Psalm recently. I read Psalm 90 today, and was so encouraged by it! I was especially encouraged with verse 16 - "Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children." Praying that the Lord would work mightily in my life! He can do far greater things than we could ever imagine! And verse 14 of that Psalm is a good one to pray over…

Two days ago, when I read Psalm 90, verse 14 really stood out to me, and I've found myself praying it ever since. I read Psalm 91 yesterday, and absolutely loved verses 14-16. I found myself challenged and invigorated - is my love set upon the Lord? Is all my satisfaction in Him, or am I letting other things creep in as well? I think the Lord is really trying to get my attention; because He has been bringing up all of these things that go back to being satisfied in Him and abiding in Him, and not seeking love in other things. He's been using verses in the Psalms - verses I never paid much attention to before - the Bright Lights lesson today, various songs/hymns that we've been singing or I've been listening to lately, etc. I believe He's trying to show me that I've been shifting my focus, and that is why I have felt empty often times recently. Anyway…trying to avoid rambling. It has just really been on my mind this week and hitting me pretty hard. Any thoughts on this? ^I don't want to be the only one rambling!^

Thank you for sharing what the Lord has been showing you from His Word. And yes! It is so neat that we're reading in the same place at the same time! I read Psalm 92-93 today. So good. =] I love Psalm 92:4 - "Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty!" And it so challenged me in my prayer life, about praying for lost family relatives. The Lord is mighty, and can change lives! I've really been praying a lot for some relatives of ours that don't know the Lord, and just reading this verse and being reminded that the Lord is mighty to save it really encouraged me to keep praying for them!

Mmhmm. It is extremely invigorating! Also loved Psalm 92:12-13 - "The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God." What a promise! We flourish in this life, like no other person can, because we have Christ! And because we are "in the courts of our God"! It really challenged me to keep pressing on in this life, keeping my eyes fixed on Christ!

That is so true - what you were saying about Psalm 93:4 - how the Lord can change lives and how we must pray with that mindset! On the topic of prayer…The pastor who preached last Sunday (off of Romans 12:12 - which talks about continuing in prayer) was challenging us to pray with persistence and perseverance, as men like Elijah (James 5:17-18) and George Mueller, and many others did; to not give up after time or to lose our urgency, but to continue on earnestly and steadfastly. I've been very convicted about that this week, and been invigorated by it.

A couple of days ago, I read Psalm 100; and verse 4 really stood out to me when it talks about being thankful to the Lord and blessing His name. And I was just pondering…do I tend to be a thankful person? Am I always being filled with gratitude, looking at all of the blessings around me? Do I find myself often blessing His name? And I found myself guilty of not regularly thanking Him for all He does for us - and for me. Thanksgiving is an important part of prayer, and I believe I've been neglecting it…it has been a conviction and motivation this week, for sure.

Once again, thank you for praying for me!! I am so grateful…and I've definitely felt them, through all the ups and downs of this week. :) Keeping you in my prayers as well!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on prayer - very good to read though and think on. I was actually reading Psalm 4 this morning, and came across the end of verse 3 that says - "the LORD hears when I call to him. " And I was thinking how that should be such motivation to any Christian to keep praying! I mean, really… often something that discourages me in my prayer life is thinking that God isn't hearing or answering, but the Lord has promised that He always hears us! No matter what we're praying, when we're praying, etc. the Lord always hears our prayers! What an encouraging Truth.

Wow. So convicting. I know that I don't spend enough time in prayer, or even when I'm not praying, thanking the Lord for His goodness to me. He has blessed me beyond comprehension… am I taking the time to be grateful for it?

I love the beginning Psalms. I started over in the Psalms (though, I'm still reading later in them, 114 & 115 this morning) and am trying to read 1 a day and really just study it out and pray over it. It has been such a blessing! And I've received so much joy in doing so! Especially Psalm 3, but I'll wait till we talk next, to tell you about it. ;) Reminds me of Psalm 4:7 - "You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound." I really, truthfully, can say that verse along with the author of it. The joy that the Lord has given me when I really am diligent about seeking Him has been so great. And even thought the world things that they receive the most joy when their possessions/money abound, it really only does when we know Christ. Must agree with Jim Elliot when he said - "Oh, the fullness, pleasure, sheer excitement of knowing God on earth!" XD

Nice, so you're the middle child! =) I am the third oldest in my family. I have two older brothers, then five younger brothers, and my little sister is the 9th born. The oldest is 18 and the youngest just turned 1 last month. :)
