Poems about the Bible Bee
Started by Sarah B.M27
OK, but…I still wish we had a few more people at least within a few hours of us who did BB (especially Nationals). Of course, Ryan Sinni is only 30 minutes away, but he's a Bible Bee graduate, and will probably only be in the area until he graduates from college.
And I should start/continue working on my poem sometime soon, just need to get a few more things crossed off my To-Do list before then :).

A Riddle of Contestants Famous, Not-so-famous, and Notorious (not really)
Over and over, this girl has made history.
How she's won thrice is a mystery.
With a smile so cute and a girl so sweet,
16th place is hard to beat.
As the youngest winner of the Oratory Award,
What time into Scripture this girl must have poured!
For him, the test is never pie,
Yet he always ranks super high. ^1^
As the first of the three great Junior F.s,
She's a Bible Bee classic, and nothing less.
A loather of sunshine and self-control, ^2^
With her poems around, it's never dull.
He knows the importance of the way you say "the",
He's the 2015 champ of the Bible Bee!
Now as you read the lines below,
Take care, lest you your knowledge show.
For the Minicas alone may safely admit
That they know the Game Show secrets a bit.
And if you tell us who won,
You will have spoilt all the fun.
Now to the winner: We wish you the best
As you embark on the greatest quest
Of serving the Lord in ev'ry way,
And seeking Jesus day by day.
Go forth, and serve the Lord with zeal,
And try to discern what is His will.
Congratulations! We are so happy for you!
Now go and glorify God in all that you do!
^Notes^
^1. According to a friend, this contestant says that the test is always hard. However, he usually ranks in the top five.^
^2. It may be necessary to know a bit of Bible Bee terminology for this one. In 2012, Mrs. McMahan played some sort of game with the contestants similar to the traditional hand-waving that many of you are familiar with. In the game, the contestants were to wave their hands when Mrs. McMahan said "sunshine" and clap them together when she said "self-control". Thus, the person in the rhyme does not literally hate sunshine and self-control, but rather waving both their hands. And I have now made the answer very obvious.^

This is sort of a riddle. Each paragraph is a different contestant. Feel free to "blockquote" this, and answer it. I am painfully (or not painfully :)) aware of the fact that the rhythm is very bad in some places, but if I changed it too much, it would change the meaning of everything. I may end up editing this (probably not, though) or adding more people to it. Enjoy! Oh, and if you don't understand the joke behind some of them, let me know, and I'll explain :).
2 Corinthians 5:17
Are these contestants from last year? I think I know some of them… xD
2 Corinthians 5:17
Over and over, this girl has made history.
How she's won thrice is a mystery. Olivia Davis!
With a smile so cute and a girl so sweet,
16th place is hard to beat. Not quite sure…is this Delie from 2012? x)
As the youngest winner of the Oratory Award,
What time into Scripture this girl must have poured! Meredith Montgomery!
For him, the test is never pie,
Yet he always ranks super high. Not sure… :P
As the first of the three great Junior F.s,
She's a Bible Bee classic, and nothing less. I'm going with Rionna Flynn x)
A loather of sunshine and self-control,
With her poems around, it's never dull. Margaret Eddy!
He knows the importance of the way you say "the",
He's the 2015 champ of the Bible Bee! Daniel Fierer, for sure!
M27
Yes, they were all contestants last year. However, you might not be able to figure out who they are just from last year (for example, the "first of the three great Junior F.s" was not a Junior last year).
M27
Over and over, this girl has made history. This young lady deserves a cheer,
She's been to Semi-Finals every single year.
Of contestant families, this is one of the proudest,
For when their kids come up they always cheer the loudest.
The first contestant ever to receive a top award,
She's also been more recently ascending the scoreboard.
A love song, a Pharaoh, and finding a spouse,
These three young men have brought down the house.
One's been on stage once, the other's been twice.
But if you don't look closely you'll think it's one thrice.
Standing on stage with our friend Anna's brother,
One is twice as tall as the other.
Although it wasn't part of the plan,
He gave a hug to Mr. McMahan.
It's taken a while, and that doesn't seem fair.
But these Senior Semi-Finalists were the first sibling pair!
2 Corinthians 5:17
-Brittney S.? ;D
- Hmm…
- Hmmm…
-Bontrager boys??
-Martin twins! xD
-Not sure…
-Jacob Harris? xD
-Matthew and Courtney?

I went ahead and answered before I saw what others had said. I'm pretty sure that I got some wrong, but I guessed anyway :).
Matthew Minica
@everyone who answered: #1, 3, 5, 6, and 8 are correct.
Emily and Anna are correct on #4. If anyone doesn't understand I'll try to explain. :)
Rachel has the answer I had in mind on #7, but I don't remember about Daniel…
@anna - good guesses on #2. The ones I had in mind were the Bontragers. xD
Matthew Minica
Oh, and BTW, you misspelled my name and a couple others. ;P
Margaret Eddy
A loather of sunshine and self-control, With her poems around, it's never dull.
thinks someone could write a whole poem on this person and not even scratch the surface of their notoriousness
And, by the way, I really do like rain much better than sunshine.
2 Corinthians 5:17
A top award for what? I'm a bit confused…sorry =\
Emily H
Courtney was the first person every to receive a top Bible Bee award. ;D I only knew that because that's what it said in their family's photo album. :P
Matthew Minica
xD xD
M27
Oh, and BTW, you misspelled my name and a couple others. ;P
Oops! Just be glad I didn't spell it matter…I accidentally did earlier! :) I'm not going to worry about figuring out if I spelled weird last names wrong :).

No, you didn't. You spelled three first names wrong. ;P

I like rain better than sunshine, too! Maybe you should write a poem about yourself! :)

OK. I misspelled Matthew, Elissa, and what else?
Matthew Minica
That specific Phillip has two "L"s. It's confusing, I know. My brother Philip has only one. No big deal. ;)
M27
OK. My uncle and cousin are both Philip (and it's John's middle name), so it's pretty enforced into my head :).
M27

On second thought, you really should write a poem about why you so utterly detest waving your hands in the air :). I find it both amusing and fun.
M27
Oh, and it might be good if I clarified that when I said "notorious" in my title I had no particular contestant in mind :).
M27
Two more Bible Bee riddles ^and I may continue to think up more :)^
Nervously, he hides his face.
For he does not know
What his bro will place.
When she qualifies, she always cries
(You may very well wonder why).
M27
With a smile so cute and a girl so sweet, 16th place is hard to beat.
Since no one has answered this one yet, I will. This is Emily F, 16th place in the Primary division at Nationals this year. She was only seven years old, so congratulations and great job, Emily!

She might, but she's not who I had in mind :).
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yourself? x)
M27
Haha! Yes! How did you know? :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Well, I figured you didn't know who all cried when they qualified… xD
I remember when I found out last year that I had made it, I was in ecstasies of pure delight and shock. :D I didn't exactly cry, but my eyes did get watery xP hopes to relive that moment again this year xD
M27
Both times I just had to cry. It was only for a few seconds, but I just screamed, let out my breath, and then cried. And of course everyone laughed at me (but I don't mind) :). I kind of thought I hadn't made it this year because they sent our emails in a weird order (Joy, Delie, Thomas, Samuel, Anna), and I thought they would have sent it by age division. Oh, and then I cried again when I found out that I was 17th :). ^And I doubt that very many care to hear my BB stories, but sometimes I just have to tell them, anyway :)^
And I think you may mean relive, rather than relieve :).
2 Corinthians 5:17
Oops, yes. XD
I don't blame you for crying!!!! :D
Hannah*
Not only does a vowel begin her last name
But she's the only first place winner who can make that claim.
Matthew Minica
Kari Erickson. :)
