Yeah, I get your point. That's why I'm going to have definite plans laid out if I were to let my children take the summer off. Because I don't want them to just spend the time doing nothing useful. :PLawl. You put too little faith in your kids. And you don't even have them yet. XD
Whale, my parents put too much faith in me and I ended up wasting a ton of time as a result. So I don't want to be that way with my own kids. ;)

May the 4th be with you, by the way. ;)
Thanks! I said that to the family we visited yesterday, and not very many of them understood it. =( Even when I said it was Star Wars day!
Hiruko Kagetane
You'll send them over to my house so that we can run around in the backyard with lightsabers, read Spider-Man comics, and discuss the reasons people have always loved heroes. ;)Yes, of course... That sounds like a totally redeeming way to spend the summer. =P Seriously, tho, if I ever feel the need to educate my kids on comic book and superhero culture, you will be the first person I take them to. ;)
It is! It's best to know the reasons you enjoy things and how they relate to your beliefs from an early age. Most of my childhood, I didn't think about any of the things I liked. I just knew that I liked them, and that they weren't bad. I really believe that I could have grown in maturity a lot if I'd had someone to help me understand why I like what I like, how it doesn't contradict my own convictions, etc. :)
Hiruko Kagetane
Just because I'd want them to be diligent during the summer doesn't l mean I don't have faith in them. :P Which is weird, cause I obviously don't have children. :PYeah, I get your point. They'll obviously be doing Bible Bee over the summer. Wouldn't that make them diligent enough? XD

Very true. Except I'd probably be more towards the side of why some of those things do contradict my family's convictions about redeeming time, living for Christ, etc. Not that it's always wrong to enjoy the things, but that it's not right to obsess over them or spend too much time on them. So, yeah, I definitely see the merit in having those discussions early on. =)

I drew upon the Force to give me the insight into the meeting; however, I lost much strength that day, and the issues discussed have faded from my memory.
