Yay!!! What does everyone think about it? I have mixed feelings. Selfishly, I love starting in less than a week. I finished school yesterday, so this is great timing. On the other hand, I think that it gives an advantage to those who have been to Nationals before (and they already have some).

But then you could say the same about those that qualified for the first time last year…having a disadvantage to those who had made it for the past several years…which is true in a sense…I kinda felt that way last year, buuut…everyone has to start somewhere! ;) But I know what you're saying. :)

Did he say that on the webinar? I don't think they've updated the website yet. :)

EDIT: Are they going to release the study materials as well, or just the book?

Just the book. I think they announced it at the host webinar.

@anna - How does it give previous qualifiers an advantage?

Well, if you already know how to study on your own from studying for Nationals, it seems like it would make it easier for you to study for the first few weeks than it would be if you had never qualified. I know that if they had done this in 2012 (the first year that I did BB) I would not have studied much at all (if any) until we got the materials.

I think National qualifiers already have a slight advantage, but this change doesn't necessarily give them an advantage. Also, I guess the same thing could be said about any contest… If you've done it before you have an advantage over someone who hasn't. The idea behind this change was so that those who are away during June 22 - August 8 would be able to still study earlier, thus making everything fairer, and that we would study on our own without the study guide.

I really do hope to volunteer next year, but I don't know if that will work yet. I'm just trying to enjoy all this excitement as a contestant for the last time, right now :) :(

What did the email say? We didn't get it (we're not doing Bible Bee, but I'm interested anyway).

It just said that on June 1 the book would be released, June 1 is the last day for refunds, and on June 22 the BBSG will be released.
