I graduate next May. You're a year ahead of me. XD

Lol let's call it a half a year. This fall I have the PSAT, a bunch of CLEPs, probably the SAT and maybe redoing the ACT. I can't do those tests once I'm officially graduated so we're postponing the official graduation until after those are done.

I think I remember hearing somewhere that programming languages count for language requirements.

Why don't you come to the front?
Because I'm not so sure it's safe yet.

I don't think there are any more pillows.

Ah, okay. I think Hebrew is a really interesting language (from the little bit I know, haha)- the words seem to have deeper, fuller meanings than English words. You can communicate a broader range of ideas with one word. I might be totally wrong on that though. :)

Well, Hebrew words often combine prepositions and pronouns with nouns and verbs, so a Hebrew word often needs to be translated as several English words.

Okay. That makes sense. How much Hebrew do you know? Could you read parts of the Bible now?

Oh wow! :D That's a lot. What are you CLEPing?

All the maths (Geometry, prealgebra, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, etc) and I think maybe physics. Not sure exactly which ones though.

I can read Isaiah 42:8a: "I am the LORD" (which is only two words in Hebrew). Beyond that, I can't do too much on my own yet.

Greek's the same way.

As someone who dislikes math, all those CLEPs sound frightening. :P I'm assuming you like math, since you like computer programming? ;)

Well, that's a start (and more than I can do)! :)

It's not too hard. I use a program similar to Memverse to review my vocabulary.

I love math. That is, most math. Math that makes sense (i.e. not Common Core math).
And there is some computer programming that doesn't require math, but it is very analytical like math is, so probably yes.

No lol I just typed in the max.

You also used 'foo' and 'bar.' Who made that up? Those two word drive me crazy.

Not sure who made those up. Where did "lorem ipsum" etc etc come from?

I learned English! Other than that, I learned some Polish because I was born in Poland.
It's called Mnemosyne. It uses the Super Memo algorithm just like Memverse.

At least those words sound professional and sophisticated.

I haven't understood anything else you guys said about programming, but I recognized "lorem ipsum." Yay for Weebly sites! XD

Joshua, that's neat that you were born in Poland! How long did you live there?

Math makes the word turn round! Well, technically it's the other way around. The world turns round, so people made up math to explain it. Still, "Math makes the world turn round" sounds good.

Don't take calculus. You will then relapse into dreading math before you learn what a new world calculus opens up.

"foo" and "bar" take up less space than "lorem" and "ipsum" which is always a key thing to keep in mind when programming. So to programmers, "foo bar" is a lot more professional than "lorem ipsum".

I lived there for about eight year before moving to America. My parents were missionaries there. Actually, my father is on a missionary trip there right now

Why not use 'x' and 'y'? That's a lot shorter and it looks much more professional.

Zach, don't worry. I have absolutely no intentions whatsoever of taking calculus. :P

Joshua, that's really cool! I know some Word of Life missionaries there, so it's kinda neat.

Because X and Y are not words, and sometimes words need to be used for demonstration. And there's only so many letters in the alphabet.

Okay, 'x' and 'y' are used for coordinate systems, but what about 'a' and 'b'? The fact that there are so many letters just means that you have a lot more options than just 'foo' and 'bar'.

May I further point out that 'foo' and 'bar' are not words? Well, 'bar' is a word, but 'foo' isn't!

In programming there are a lot of words used that are not "real" words.

So then why are you complaining that 'a' and 'b' are not words? They are brief and simple, and that's all that matters. Oh, and also they don't sound silly.
