2013 Locals!!!

Hi Hannah!!! I know!! I haven't been on here in basically forever! :P Locals was WAY harder than I ever expected. I know I was in a new age group and everything, but it was SO hard. :) What did you think?? How did Daniel do?? Did you do the final challenge thing?

YES! LOCALS WAS WAY HARDER!!!!!!! I thought that they should not have made it that hard but I can't change anything :P! Some of the questions were re-worded which REALLY confused me!!!!!! He got first place in seniors!!!!!!! No we did not do the final challenge round :(!!!!! I kinda wish we did :P! Did you?

Oh wow, that's great!!! You probably said that somewhere already, but I didn't remember :) Yeah, the reworded questions were super confusing. But, maybe they're trying to make it harder so the scores won't be so close like they were last year, or something. We did sort of a final challenge round, but with all the kids who wanted to do it instead of the top five. I kind of like it, then I kind of don't too. :) Someone this year had the idea to do awards for the final challenge thing and the morning scores, so that's what we did :) It was pretty cool :)

Or maybe we'll have the same spread… just lower.

I didn't do nearly as well as I hoped. I had the swordstudy and most of the cross references pretty much memorized, and then --if the written did ask questions about stuff that I knew-- it was so vague and reworded that I couldn't recognize it!

Well, it kind of changes every year, but previously, it seems to be that 800s qualified, and the top 700s. For Jrs and Srs at least. I think Prs were in the 600s

I think the cutoff will be WAY lower though this year with the harder written test!

I don't know what I liked best. Since we have to drive so far to locals, I only ever see the people there once a year, so it was really awesome getting to see them again. I loved the oral round this year also.

Oh yeah, this year when we finished the written test, one of the judges who has judges almost every year, she said, "Okay everyone, when I count to three, shout 'Praise God! The written test is over!'" =D That was SO much fun, we were all screaming that so loud then everyone started clapping =D

Same here :)! Last year they picked all the short ones but this year they picked all the long ones :)! I liked that :)!

Lol! Me too! I was just so thankful I finished it! I was sure I wouldn't finish. It was fun. Really, really fun =D That was probably one of my favoritest things of the day :)

Hey I haven't been on here very much since I got back from locals, so I haven't read everyones comments, do you know if most people finished the written test in time? I finished with about five minutes to spare, but I felt like I guessed on a lot of the test, The wording of some of the questions really made it hard. It's amazing how you can study hard all summer, and still feel clueless on the test:(

I think the general feeling was that the test was really, really hard and confusing and most people either finished with only a few minutes left, or had to bubble in the same letter because they were running out of time.

It was mostly the ones that were all general and reworded (which was like all of them).

That happened at our bee also! A lot of the Juniors were like "The time ran out at question 130" or "I did better! I got to 150!" WOW..Just wow! JK :)! How was the feeling at your bee about the oral round?

@Hannah, wow, yeah…. Well, everyone I talked to who knew their verses well thought that orals went well, and such. I actually didn't talk to them much about it!! I can't believe that!!! It was just like "were you able to finish your test" and "did you finish your verses"… :P

Don't forget about me!! Like Christian, if I can say this without sounding arrogant or prideful, I'm thinking that I'm likely going to Nationals.

BTW, you know, @Emily, (and Bethany, and Margaret, and pretty much everyone), I'm guessing that there's a lot of Seniors around the country right now who are thinking they've done horrible. Probably not too many are sure of themselves right now (I'm not even completely sure of myself). Leave it in the Lord's hands, of course, but you shouldn't give up on Nats quite yet, especially if you studied hard during the summer.

Um, I'm okay. Ok, not really. Super overtired and bummed out. lol. Just from all the stress, and the super-early morning, and plus I studied really hard and did terrible on the test. So yeah :) Test was terrible, but I think orals was perfect, and I placed first in Juniors, so at least I did kind of ok :) I don't know if I'll make it to Nats or not, but if I do, I'll place pretty badly probably.

Yeah, the test was so crazy, I thought it would be a LOT different. That's great you placed first though!!! Congrats!! :)
