Is this thing separate from the National Bible Bee?? The finals format and prizes are the same…
Ian R.2
I don't think so. You should read the schedule and the How it works part. :)
Emma
It looks really cool! I think I'm going to audition for it!
Everett C.
I did :) I honestly don't understand it. It's only for those who didn't make regular semi-finals…
Emma
It is separate, but it uses the same materials… I also saw that if you win it, you have to compete in the BB at the next age division, just like the regular competition.
EDIT: I think that it's by the same people, but it is a different competition.

I'm sticking with "regular" Bible Bee :P
Emma
Well, you pretty much have a spot in semis with your name on it… :P
Everett C.
Thanks a lot :P

They say they're looking for personality in the players…well, we have this personality, and this one, and this one , and ^this one^ , best of all, we play. Which makes us a players.
Emma
Out of however many years you've done BB, how many have you at least made it to semis?

Well, I was going to do it in 2009, but it was way too hard so I did the Mini Bee (the easy version which led into the Timothy track). I've made it the past three years, so 3/4.
Emma
Wow…. Good for you! Keep the streak going! ; D
Courtney M.

So the way I think it works is that you audition, then they choose 24 contestants based on personality, I guess. The only prerequisite is that you have made it to Nationals. The preliminaries will take place at Nationals in Orlando, but I guess it will be after we find out about Semis, which will disqualify anyone who made it to Semis from further competition. I don't know exactly how they'll do it, if they'll invite others to compete, or what. Or if we won't find out till Nationals who was picked. Then the Semi-final and Final challenge rounds will be held in December, in San Antonio, Texas. Apparently it will be pretty similar to the actual Bible Bee, but it'll be like a game show, and it'll be on TV! xD

The website says those chosen for the NBBGS will be announced in the Opening Ceremony at the same time Semi-Finalists are announced.
It will be kind of similar, but there will only be 24 contestants in Semi-Finals coming to San Antonio… hopes we know some of them
Emma
You know, if you live there, you could maybe get tickets to go see it.

The real question is: how much personality do they want?

hmm.
oh yes
indeed
^isn't that the question of the day?^
Margaret Eddy
You should have an argument with yourself over what your favorite verse is, if you audition. Or why you like the Bible Bee.
Do we like the Bible Bee?
^in theory^

excellent! thanks for the idea!
Emma
If you did that you could definitely be picked for personality! : P
Everett C.
Okay, thanks!

Yeah, and we just might! xD
Emma
I wonder how much they are. The tickets to see the prelims are $2, but if you have a family member in it you can get in free.
Courtney M.
What will the prelims be like?
Matthew Minica
It will be similar to National Finals, but with only four contestants in each show. There is a sample Game Show format here: http://nationalbiblebeegameshow.tv/schedule.html
I don't quite get they way they do each contestant differently though… xP
Courtney M.
Huh. Interesting. Wow…I will hardly believe it if I actually make it to prelims!
Emma
I like how they made it so that you can choose the difficulty of the question.
Matthew Minica
Ahh, I hate choices… :P
Everett C.
That's cool. I think I would go for the hardest ones XD
Courtney M.
But which one should you choose? xP
Matthew Minica
That's cool. I think I would go for the hardest ones XD
I probably would too… but it would be really hard to decide xP
Everett C.

Yeah, it would. What's the worst they could do? Ask you the Hebrew word for "the"?
Emily H
LOL xP
2 Corinthians 5:17
Alright…..How do you narrow down your choices for key words? In Nahum 1 I pulled out 45 or so x)
Emily H
Haha! Do the ones that are repeated, are essential to the meaning of the book (ie. Jonah would not be the same if you took out "repent" or "turn"). I think the Jr SS had a list of things to look for while finding key words.
Everett C.
It's pretty tough. Just do your best… There's a few recurring themes, but not too many words that stand out. Just hope that they don't ask them on the test :P
Courtney M.
Oh, I've got 68. xP Including Greek.
Everett C.
I've got 45 for the whole book XD
Courtney M.
Haha! xP Well, if you would put your list on the Key Words page, I would appreciate it. Opinions help me. :P I don't want to miss anything…but I'm not studying all of them in detail. Last year for Ephesians I think I had 350+!
Everett C.
I might do it later. I always revise it a bunch of times.
Emma
I don't know… I guess it would depend on the circumstances. ; ) Tough choice, though!
Courtney M.
That works.
Everett C.
Looks like the Primary division's test is 200 questions.

Have you posted your Hebrew/Greek words on Quizlet, Everett? I am working on a set there myself. I have like 18 Hebrew words on the first 9 verses. Not because all of them are necessarily key words, but because Bible Bee often tests on words that most of us don't consider to be key words.
His Servant
Did anyone else have trouble getting their photo up on the Bible Bee site? Do you have to wait for a bit to show up, or what? I tried putting mine up, but it doesn't show.
Emma
You do have to wait a day or two.
His Servant
My dad told me he got an e-mail that this is our last day to put up pics if we want them in the BB program book. Does that mean mine won't be in it?
Emma
I don't know… My mom said that why they take a while to get put up is probably because they look at them first, so I think you'll be fine.
Emily H
This is what the email said about the pictures:
Each year for Nationals, we put together a commemorative program for the National Competition which includes photos of all of the competitors. These photos are drawn from the “Me and the Bee” submissions that each family may post through their Family Control Panel. If you wish to have your contestant’s photo included in the 2014 Program, it must be uploaded to “Me and the Bee” no later than September 21st. To encourage full participation, we will hold a drawing from all of the contestants who have posted complete “Me and the Bee” profiles by September 21st, and the winners will receive meal tickets to the Del Tackett Luncheon for the whole family!
