Oh, and as of yesterday, our Locals has 17 families and 58 contestants signed up so far!! :D
2 Corinthians 5:17
I should ask our host again, but I know, so far, we have 5 families, with 12 contestants (ours has the most with 5 xP ). (5 Seniors, 3 Juniors, 4 Primaries.)
Happy Holly
Thanks! I agree with you, summers immersed in Scripture are beautiful!

Hi! I am in the Senior division and have never qualified. I would really love to go to Nationals, but it's up to the Lord's will! Thanks for sharing what you are doing with John 1-6 for now!
Happy Holly
Thanks for sharing that! I'm already starting to memorize it, so now I'll get into some deeper stuff.
Happy Holly
Yep, finally decided to be on Memverse! Thanks for sharing what you are doing! It seems getting familiar with the book is the best thing to do for now! :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes! How many years do you have left? :) I have participated since 2011, and qualified for the first time last year =)
Matthew Minica
Awesome. xD Yeah, pretty much! Mr. Upton told me that they are making an effort to make this year's BB tests as similar as possible to previous years. He was even looking at last year's questions on his laptop today. =P So hopefully we won't have to completely re-learn how to study for Bible Bee! x)
Happy Holly
I have one year left! Sniff But I can say that doing the Bible Bee, along with the Sword Studies has been the best life changing thing for me! Did you enjoy Nationals last year? :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Ah, so we're the same age! This is my last year too. =( Oh, I totally agree with you! The Lord has used BB as a tool to draw me closer to him. Nationals was AAAA-MAYYYYY-ZINNNNNG! :D :D
2 Corinthians 5:17
Did anyone go the webinar this afternoon? Any news or info?
Bella M.
Oh, I completely forgot about the webinar!!! :(
2 Corinthians 5:17
Aww, sorry! =( I just decided to skip this one - but it probably was the one that had the "big news"…Lol xD
Bella M.
What big news? I haven't been attending the webinars the past few times, although I should :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
Lol, no big news that I know of…I just know if I decide not to do something, that's the day something happens. XD jk
Bella M.
Oh, lol, I understand what you're saying now XD
2 Corinthians 5:17
Hehe… x)
Matthew Minica
I'm pretty sure Holly told me her last year is 2016… I could be completely mistaken though. :P
Happy Holly
Yes, that is true. That's what I meant when I said I have one year left. I guess I should have counted this year was well as next year! :)
Matthew Minica
I thought as much. :) Rachel is about a year older than you. :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
Lol. xP

I have a question: Does anyone think that the miracle described in John 4:43-54 is parallel to Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10, or are they different? Why?
Charge901
Difficult question! I personally think that the John passage is not a parallel to the Matthew and Luke passages, simply because the nobleman in John 4:43-54 begs and implores Jesus to come to his house and heal his son, while in the other two passages, the centurion/nobleman feels himself unworthy that Jesus should come under his roof to heal his servant and asks that Jesus heal him right there, showing his faith. There just seems to be too many discrepancies for them to be the same incident.

Does BB use ESV07 or ESV?
Ian R.2
ESV now. They used to use ESV07. :)
Emma
Ok, thanks. :)
Esther Grace
ESV now. They used to use ESV07. :)
They changed? When was that? Were they not able to use ESV07 any longer because there was a new version? ^I don't use ESV but I'm curious^

Has anyone else taken the ClassMarker sample test yet? It's hilarious! It's also a little too easy :P.

The BB written test will be online this year on ClassMarker.com
2 Corinthians 5:17
How do y'all help your younger siblings study? What do you think is most important for the little ones to work on, if they want to qualify? I have a 7 (going to be 8) year old sister, and she reallyyy wants to qualify. ^_^ Any ideas? I've been having her read at least one chapter from 1-6 each day, memorizing a few key verses, and last night I showed her how to outline, so she wrote down all the people from John 2. XD She's be doing the SG and memory verses next week, of course. :)

It happened a couple years ago. I remember it because I had to switch versions on my one account a couple times. :P

Huh. I didn't know that.

The fact that she wants to study helps a lot. Primaries often tend to have wonderful brains for memorizing, so encourage her to memorize anything that you can without over-loading her. Remember that she is little and will still want to play, so don't pressure her to study too much, or then she will decide that she doesn't like it. Having small prizes also helps little people to stay motivated. Of course, the prizes are not the goal, but are just helpful. One thing that I did last year for Nationals to help the boys was making cross word puzzles. I would make it with places in Nahum, Hebrew words, and other things. I also play a Greek matching game with all my BB siblings that helps a LOT. I'll probably do a post on my blog sometime soon about that. Also, just talk about what you've been learning, and she'll probably remember. My siblings and I often talk about what we've been learning during chores.
Because she's a Primary, she won't need to study as hard as a Senior to qualify. Believe it or not, Thomas didn't finish his SS last year and he qualified (but only by one question). I don't think that that's the norm, but it does occasionally happen :). But she should still be pretty familiar with the SG and know the memory passages word-for-word.
I'll be cheering for her! It is so wonderful that she wants to study God's Word!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Thanks, Anna! :) I have been encouraging her, but not pressuring her to study, and she spent a couple hours today reading and making a list of people from John! x) What kind of prizes did you give them? Tonight I did a quiz game with the 12, 10, and 7 year old on John :) They liked that.

How do you find it, and do I have to make an account on there to take it?

It's on the classmarker.com website. The link to the practice test is +https://www.classmarker.com/online-test/start/?quiz=fnx4e11c1f24bc57+

Aaaaand… the BBSG is up!!! :D
Emma
Only 41 verses for Locals, approx. 30% of Nats verses are up. There's overlap in the age group's passages. The BBSG looks pretty good, on first glance through. It uses the "PRAY" model. :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
It's upppppp!!!!!!!! :D
goes to look at it
Emma: how many verses are for Nats, do you know?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Ohhh good….they released all of the locals verses at once!!!! =D
I know a lot of them though, from Nats and studying these first 3 weeks. xD xP Lol
Emma
I know, more than half of them are from John! :) And for the nats verses, some of the smaller passages fit inside the bigger passages! :P
Everett C.
Wow, the study guide looks hard. Good thing I memorized John 1-6 :P
K
Did anyone notice that the Nationals verses overlap passages? They have us memorizing a long passage, and then small parts of that passage again! That's kind of strange!
Also, has anyone done the study for Week 1, Day 1? If so, do you think that when they kept telling us to cross-reference Genesis 1:1-5 they meant John 1:1-5? I was kind of confused.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes, I did notice that, and it seems kinda weird. :P (about the nats verses)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Oh, I also counted up the amount of verses that they've released for Nationals so far, and if that is 30%, then us Seniors will have approximately 950 verses. How can they do that to us?!?!?!?! xP
