So I was just wondering... How many of you are memorizing the 'early release national passages'?
I don't have time to do as many as I would like, but I'll be trying to do the ones that are in John just because they're very familiar already. :)
Cow
Haha thanks, Keirstin! It's my little Chihuahua dog named Cookie Dough XD yeah I've made it before :) do you want to make it this year?
Cow
Somewhere in Austin, I think. We haven't gone to any of the meetings though lol. We're super-uninvolved this year. We went on vacation for the first three weeks of studying and now I'm cramming XD so is there no appendix to Junior and Senior week 5?
Matthew Minica
Okay! Oh wow, that's gotta be tough. :P Hope you can catch up in these next two weeks. xD I'm guessing they didn't publish a Jr/Sr Week 5 appendix because it's just the Jesus, Testify and Believe worksheets, which are already out.
Cow
Ok, that makes sense. How is your studying going? Btw, is there a Memverse locals practice test this year? Cause I've been out of the internet circle of knowledge for awhile. XD
Matthew Minica
Pretty good. Could be better. I'm hoping to start Week 5 today. :) What I really need to do most is review.
There's a practice test in the works - hope to publish the full version on Monday or Tuesday before Test Day!
Cow
Ok, cool! Thanks! :) Haha, same with me. Catch up and then put everything in to Quizlet so I can beat it into my brain XD
Keirstin

Cute! ( IS JELOUS) I haves dog who is part chihuahua part beagle ( a Cheagle) who isn't half as cute! I have a little hope in the back of my mind that I will make it, but I had to remind myself that it isn't about nationals, but about getting closer to the word of God! I actually missed three weeks of the study guide because my dad wasn't aware there was one so I'm trying to get caught up on that. So yeah, I would like to make it to nationals but we'll see! With God all things are possible!

Hi, everyone!
As many of you know, I have a blog (sweeterthanhoneyblog.blogspot.com) where I share tips and encourage people in memorizing and studying Scripture, especially Bible Bee-ers. I had been planning to do a post with tips from contestants, but the problem is that only one person has commented on that post, so I'd prefer not to do a post with just one tip. So if you have a tip, would you mind commenting at http://sweeterthanhoneyblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/share-your-tips.html
Thank you very much!

I just commented, Anna! :)

Lol well all doggies are cute in some way or another ;) and Cheagle…that is an ADORABLE name for a dog breed. It sounds so…cute. XD Yeah, totally know what you mean! The Bible study has been amazing this year, and I feel like I know so much more about God and Jesus and that I'm so much closer to God. That's what matters most :)
M27
Thank you so much, Bella! :)

I just submitted one too :)

Thanks, Everett!

Guys! The Bibles we brought don't have footnotes/cross references for Hebrews 1:11 or 12 with the reference to the OT quote (SR SG pg26). Do your Bibles say Psalm 102:26-27?
Emma
Yes, but mine says 25-27. :)
Emily H
Okay, thanks so much!!!
Btw, your diligence in pressing on even though you're in the middle of moving and having trouble with the SG and everything is inspiring! Keep on!

Pardon my not understanding, but what is the Bible Bee? Is it something like the Spelling Bee?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Hi Chelsea! Great question! :)
In short, the Bible Bee is an annual Bible study and scripture memory competition for young people ages 7-18.
In more detail, there are two levels: the local level, and National level. During the months of April-June, families can register their children to participate in one of three age divisions: Primary (7-10), Junior (11-14), or Senior (15-18). The studying/preparing for the competition begins on June 1st, where the children are assigned a book or passage of the Bible to study in-depth (this year, we are studying the Gospel of John, chapters 1-6), and verses to memorize (we have approx 40 verses to commit to memory this summer.) After a period of time (this year we had 9 weeks to study), all the contestants will take an online multiple choice test on the knowledge they learned. The top 120 scoring contestants from each division will be invited to compete at the National Competition, which, this year, will be held in San Antonio, TX. Those contestants who accept will be assigned more verses to memorize depending on their division (anywhere from 400-750 verses, thereabouts), and another book/passage to study. The Lord graciously allowed me to go to the Nationals last year, and I can say it is an *amazing* experience. :) At the Nationals the contestants are tested again, from which the winners are produced. The 1st place Senior winner brings home $100,000! :)
It's a wonderful program, and I have grown closer to the Lord through the study of the Scriptures. If you're within the age to participate, I'd totally say go for it next year!! :D
You can go to www.biblebee.org for more information :) Hopefully I answered your question!
Emma
In short, you say, before you write this whole long paragraph. :P ^I know, you did your best.^
Emma
Thanks so much for the encouragement, Emily! hugs
2 Corinthians 5:17
Lol! XD Well, I didn't know it was going to be that long. xD Honestly, it's hard to condense it! ;)
Emma
I know, I know…. That was a pretty good summary anyway. :)
mysteryperson
Sounds interesting! I might try that next year! I might be able to meet people at Nationals, as I live Texas. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Exciting! You would really enjoy it. :D Maybe you can attend Nationals in November, since you live in TX. :) (Anyone can attend). May I ask how old you are?

I just turned 17. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Okay! =D So next year would be your last possible year to compete. ;)

I second what Emily said! It is such an encouragement to see your endurance and love for the Word of God!
Emma
Aw, you guys are great! x) Thanks so much, Anna!

Just wanted to let y'all know that I just wrote a blog post about my journey with the Bible Bee this year and also gave some testing tips for next week. ;) If you'd like to see it, you can see it on my blog: www.Jesusisworthitall.weebly.com :)

Thanks, Rachel! ;)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Did anyone go to the webinar yesterday? I totally forgot about it. Anything important we need to know?

Here are some verses that are an encouragement to me in light of tomorrow:
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:4-7)
"This God – His way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him." (Psalm 18:30)
"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock." (Isaiah 26:3-4)
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5)
All verse taken from the English Standard Version.
Keirstin
Thanks Anna! This a great encouragement! ;)

I was wondering, is there a rule that you have to say locals verses to someone to "prove" you memorized them, if so do you have to say them to a non-family member? Or do you just memorize them, and take the test without saying them to anyone?
Emma
Ok, I'm on Week 4, day 4. I need to work on my verses more and say them to someone. What should I do with the rest of the afternoon/what I have of tomorrow?
Cory(being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel)
@Hannah, you have to recite six of your verses to two unrelated adults. There is a sheet on the family documents of your BB dashboard that tells you the verses to recite. You have to put yes I recited in a box when putting in info before the test. Hope this helps.
Cory(being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel)
@emma, you have as many passes as you need when reciting verses, so listen to Zach :P.
2 Corinthians 5:17
If you want to have a chance to qualify for nationals, you must attempt to recite the 6 selected passages (posted on your BB family dashboard) to 2 unrelated adults (like neighbors, friends, and I think grandparents are allowed). If you do not complete this, you can still take the test, but you can't qualify.

I don't see any verses on the website… where would they be?
Emma
They're on the family dashboard under Family resources. The file is called 6 Recitation Scriptures.
